OK, I got a previous email say they would send another email to confirm and secure the spot given few days to the commencement which is 24th April. Have received such confirmation?
I just got a congratulatory email

Did anyone notice the Software Engineering mail says 15 Months and not 12? And that in-person classes are also mandatory to attend. What could the extra three months be for?

When applying, I noticed the mention of them trying out a different hybrid approach (online and in-person) for the April batch but I assumed that will only be for the other programmes as they always insisted SE is online-only. Well, it's not like I have a problem with attending live classes but 3 extra months are quite long and disturbing.

They should please leave SE as online, I am not residing in Lagos anymore.

Yeah, I just saw that now
I don't really know what to do, i don't reside in Lagos, moreover, extra 3months!
Is it gonna get any better at all by deferring?

So was I, missed the mail initially but I've confirmed enrollment and hub also. I guess we wait for further instructions, the mail did mention something about in person at my selected hub on the 6th of May.

Yea, 3 months is a lot and the thing bothering me is what it will be used for exactly, since I saw something like the first three months being used for soft-skills training. I won't say it's their fault as when applying for the batch, they clearly mentioned it being 15 months and also using an experimental hybrid-approach (physical + online). But I had assumed the '15' months was an error and that SE will be excluded from their hybrid experiment. Notwithstanding, I signed up to dive straight into learning programming and not a whole 3 months of learning workplace jargon/soft skills!

Anyway, maybe you could try contacting them to see if they can move you to the one starting on the 22nd. That one is just the regular 12 months online-only programme, I guess.

I got into the cloud computing program, I received a mail asking me to confirm my participation and there is an option to select a hub. I don't know if i should pick the hub at lekki phase 1 or the one at ogba. Does anyone have an idea of what these hubs are like?
Re: My Software Engineering Journey In ALX Africa by avalon7(m): 6:16pm On Apr 26, 2023
And what's this shit about developing core soft skills and mindsets in “ALX Foundations" for a whole 3 months. That's a huge waste of time. Hope they are not trying to get people to do some free work 😕

Why dont you pick the one closest to you.

You will be expected to go there 1 - 3 times a week for a year plus.

Proximity is important so you dont get tired.

Hi guys, I started my Alx SE journey in march this year, cohort 14. Although I’m in a WhatsApp group, it’s not all that interactive. Can anyone share me a group link pls

Normally, this is what I write in my diary section but I need opinions.

Who knows... It might be helpful to others.

So my stack is Frontend Development and My learning has been more focused on that aspect.

I'm still doing ALX Program for those who are curious but I learn Frontend Development aside while building Projects.

I thought of documenting how I built my projects.

Take for instance, If I decide to build a movie website, I will write the codes I used and explain them. I know it won't be easy but writing is my fort.

What do you think? It could also help others

I dropped a dm
