FG should put in place steady power supply prior to removing subsidy. Don't put the cart before the horse. If it requires Tinubu selling Nigeria to China to have steady power supply let him do it. Thereafter he could remove subsidy and from the proceed of subsidy removal we can repay whatever loan taken to afford steady power supply. 16 Likes |

Until uninterrupted power supply comes, subsidy should stay. Government should stop pushing its responsibilities to the masses. It's not like they already built enough local capabilities to serve us. They just want to pull the plug and allow the masses to adjust. If they want to borrow to pay subsidy, they should. Every country pays subsidy on one item or another. Nigeria own won't be different The Nigeria people will not be the ones providing their; electricity, roads, security, health insurance, and virtually all and anything else 12 Likes

Certain things need to be put in place before subsidy can be removed. Dangote refinery need to start working, since our own refineries have failed us. Power must be improved upon. Electric cars need to be introduced into the Nigeria auto market. Wages to be commensurate to means of livelihood So, you can't remove subsidy to impoverish the innocent masses. 13 Likes 2 Shares |

The ripple effect of fuel subsidy removal will be 5 times more than whatever reason why they want to remove it in the first place. Look at a whole senator talking about salary increase as a palliative for subsidy removal. Salary that has been inadequate for present bills or he thinks they are doing Nigerians a favour? Remove subsidy and NIGERIANS will pay x7 for everything. in an economy where generator is still in heavy usage, Price of production of everything will increase, transportation too. Who & Who will suffer for this? 14 Likes 2 Shares |

michlins: It is generally agreed that the removal of subsidies is a key factor in the success of the U.S. economy. However, the substitution of lower-cost alternatives has sometimes been seen as a more efficient way of doing things. This is not a change in the substance of the rule, but rather a way of saying that the main goal of the rule is no longer to remove subsidies, but to reduce the number of subsidies. 👌 1 Like 1 Share |

People think countries like Qatar, Abu Dhabi and Dubai are a reflection of Islam achieving prosperity — that Islam is the answer. This is wrong. Those countries are stupidly rich. That’s why there’s prosperity for its citizens. Rich is the answer, not religion or some fanatic ideologies. 10 Likes |

Karlifate:Please, at what point was the US subsidy removed? did they remove it at a point where there was no regulation of transportation prices and poor electricity and zero refineries in an economy where the citizens are suffering steady food price inflation? Has the government economic experts come out to tell the citizens how the removal will be of long or short term benefits to the people? 11 Likes 1 Share |

The date will still come, but proper planning needs to go into it. Steps they're taking or have taken: 1. Increase salary for Civil Servants by 40%. See here - https://www.nairaland.com/7662728/fg-begins-payment-40-salary 2. How can they pay this salary increase and still be paying subsidy, quickly they increased VAT on Beer, Plastics, Tokunbo cars etc. See here - https://www.nairaland.com/7672639/fg-introduces-new-taxes-beer 3. FG to pay N5,000 to 10m households for 6 months. See here - https://www.nairaland.com/7656340/subsidy-palliative-fg-pay-n5000 World Bank has advised that there will be chaos when removed and advised against immediate removal without proper steps and implementation already on ground to cushion the effect, and also they gave FG $800m to this effect. See here - https://tribuneonlineng.com/subsidy-fg-gets-800m-from-world-bank-for-palliatives/ Happy New Month. Remember, Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. Heb 13 v 8 3 Likes |

I think this is a naive opinion. You should't borrow to pay subsidy on Gasoline, wherein a significant proportion of it is exported to neighbouring countries. Nigeria has the lowest gas prices in West Africa and we are a smugglers paradise. Soon the borrowing will be impossible without fiscal cut, very steep ones unlike those we have ever seen. michlins: 1 Like |

Karlifate:Did they just wake up and become stupidly rich? We have the same natural resources they have and we even have those they don’t. The only difference is they have visionary leaders who love the people and want the best for them. We can achieve same prosperity on when we start being sincere to ourselves. 1 Like 1 Share |
