WHAT I KNOW ABOUT GBENGA ADEBOYE

The indomie generation may not know him
cos he died in 2003. I was in SS2 that year.
I grew up listening to his programs, shows and albums. Born in 1959, from Ode-Omu, Osun State.
He came into limelight in the 1980s when stand-up comedy was not popular in Nigeria. His own style is a combination of all. Sitcom, stand-up comedy, making it as skits, radio/TV shows etc. To me, he's more talented than Ali Baba or any AY or Basketmouth of present time. In fact, Ali Baba learned from him.
Before his death in 2003, he was the don of Nigerian comedy. Very fluent in various languages & can interpret any role/voice. His character Itu Baba Ita is legendary. What of Lasisi Abeshupinle (the one who share land with the devil)?
He discovered many artists and gave them opportunity to excel. Amongst them is Fathia (Williams) Balogun. She alongside Toyin Asewo to re Mecca, Sewa Cocker & others were video vixens in his gross selling album American Exposure.
Salome Eketunde (Titi), Kayode Olaseinde (Ajirebi), Gogogbo, Goroso, Dejo, Baba Suwe and many others are regular as his backup comedians.
What type of advert are you doing that Gbenga Adeboye won't perfect, what kind of movie are you making, anything good in the entertainment industry has a touch of Gbenga Adeboye? He can act as a Pastor, Alfa, Herbalist etc. No wonder he's called Alhaji Pastor Oluwo.
A complete & talented broadcaster fluent in diverse languages & tonation.
Alongside Gbenga Adewusi his boss on friend, they produced and promoted many artistes that are big names in today's Yoruba Nollywood. Before he died in 2003, he was very celebrated as a master orator.
His legacies lives on, 20 years after.
