Quitting Good Job For Australia Study Visa by SundayphilipNic: 10:53am On May 04, 2023
Greetings ladies and gentlemen.

Please I'm in a serious confused state. it gives me sleepless night. I have Admission to study Msc in Engineering Technology and Management. my visa has been granted since fabruary this year. i was supposed to start my program the same fabruary but due to the fact that the visa was granted a bit late, i had to differ the admission to july intake. That same fabruary i got a job here in Nigeria. the benefit attached to the job are as follow:
Salary is 540k Net.
HMO for me and my family.
28 days work, 14 day time off.
yearly Renewal of my contract bonus is x2 of my Salary.
No pension.
it's a contract job that can last for minimum of 3years.
Now my confusion is quiting this job to start afresh in Australia on a study visa. Please Gurus in the house. do you think am taking a good decision in this my Australia journey? Does quitting my job for my study worth it.
NOTE i have booked my flight to depart First week of june. Should i go for my tuition fee and ticket refund and continue with this new job?

Moreso, my job experience is in quality control welding inspector, Bsc in Agricultural Engineering and Msc in Engineering Technology and Management. can i get PR with this my different fields.

Better go for the Australian study visa. The job is a contract job and can end anytime. You have more opportunities in Australia.

I have the best advice for you.

Go for your tuition fee and ticket refund and suffer in Nigeria. You will enjoy driving on potholed roads, walking amidst filth and litter that are almost everywhere in Nigeria, and raising your kids in a country like Nigeria. Nigeria has vast oil deposits but citizens constantly suffer from power outages. A country where those in power prefer to import generators rather than use the country's resources, such as the oil from the Niger Delta, to fix the electricity outage problem.

Please stay in Nigeria and be a patriotic citizen. Those in power hold dual citizenship and have better passports, and enroll their kids in schools in first-world countries. I promise, you will make it in Nigeria if you don't put yourself first.

People don wise or what? I was expecting the anti-japa people to spill hate or the “abroad is all about Tax” people
Maybe dem never see this post 😹😹
If i were you i will leave without blinking twice
You have an opportunity in Australia and again you are also leaving an opportunity for another jobless nigeria who would take over your role here. Btw if the 3yrs contract expires what will be your next move
Wil you regret not traveling then? Or you would have save up and find a way out.
The decision is upto you tho
But if i was you i would japa without thinking twice

I am not a welder. I'm into Quality Control welding Inspection. we make sure welding is done according to procedure and specification. we check Quality of the welding Referencing international codes and standards.

If I were you in the current Nigeria, I'd keep the job for now, find a way to get in touch with the school and put the admission on hold.

I'd also see if I can get in touch with the embassy and defer or cancel the visa with the hope of having it renewed at a later date.

I would like to explore the new job for now and save as much as I could and then travel with good financial strength later.

The school can always wait. If you abandon that job and travel now to start afresh in an entirely new environment with little or not enough cash, you'll regret it.

Please don't stay, kindly go to Australia and continue your masters. Nobody can say what will happen in the next three years and I am certain you will make more than that money while studying.

Dear Poster.

In 2016 I left a well paying job (more than 500k a month, HMO, single, 10 days leave off, travel for events and conferences available) to Australia and I totally regretted it.

Scratch that, who am I kidding, it was one of the best decisions of my life.

I was on student visa but within 2 months I got a well paying job in my field, and the jobs I have gotten since then have gotten better and better.

Congrats on your new contract job, but I don't know if in this current economy, if 500k plus can be referred to as a well paying job especially if you have a family.

My advice, go to Australia, if possible keep your new job and see if you can work remotely from Australia. I don't know the nature of the new job, just saying.

Or, can you take a leave of absence from the job, travel to Australia and see if you like it?

I love Australia because:

1. You can easily get a job, within or outside your field. I am talking in a matter of weeks especially if you work hard at searching

2. AU jobs are well paying. This 500k you are considering as a well paying job, will become a joke to you in a few months in AU. Currently black market rate, 500k is just about 1k aud.

3. If you work hard, you can easily pay your fees and live comfortably.

4. Regarding PR, we have seen in recent times that AU PR process has eased up a little bit, and there are rumors that it may even become easier. Don't bother too much about AU pr for now. Sha enter there first.

Having said all this, relocating to AU is not for everyone. But if you sincerely want it. Go for it. remember why you applied for Visa in the first place.

Above all, whatever God you believe in, if you belive in any, pray and ask for Direction, and God will direct you.

Send me a PM and we can talk more about wonderful AU.

All the best whatever you decide.

My sincere advise to you is that if you decide to take the study route it will be tough very tough at the beginning because money will be leaving your pocket so much due to you not having a fully funded scholarship. The interesting option you have is that you can push your studies to a further date while you work in Nigeria make more money. This decision is all yours.... Just choose the best that will give you more advantage. Forget all the japa talk from inexperienced folks here!
