obembet:cc Dominique Nigerians are their own worst enemies. Don't be surprised even after reading this direct and straightforward narration of the matter, some foolish Nigerians will still believe the guy "took them handicap" or "he is evil and only preyed on their desperation to get to London". Imagine treating a whole human being like a chicken you asked your servant to buy for Christmas and take care of till Christmas day when it will be slaughtered. I'm beginning to believe Nigerians inherently love wicked but rich people. Damn!! 3 Likes |

Anybody can do anything said by a doctor to save his child or love ones in health situation. The doctor must have assured his client that he can get a donor which usually requires money. The money for the donor is different from the money for the doctor's services. Many people do such just that others get caught. But doing the right thing is better and dealing with a single doctor is risky and it is better to deal with a reputable hospital although the doctor may have his hospital. The job of saving lives should not rest on making money only. Greed is dangerous. Sometimes desperate patient can ask you to do illegal things just to get well but not minding what is legal and what is not. Just pray you never get into situations that warrant you to seek for anyhow solution. 1 Like |

stonemasonn:The boy was not even told the money was for his kidney. The doctor probably told him it was for him to get himself ready for the trip to London. Think about it. Why will they look for a random guy selling phone accessories from a barrow if not that they are looking for someone easily dispensable without any hiccups. And some foolish Nigerians in high and low places area supporting and defending Ekweremadu while lambasting the boy for not playing his role to the letter by being that Christmas chicken Ekweremadu bought for his daughter, Sonia. I'm beginning to agree there's something inherently wrong with the psyche of Africans!! 5 Likes 2 Shares |

The prime cause of this is immaturity on Ekweremadu's part. He didn't act like a real man at all, what stops him from making everything transparent from onset. Open dialogue, unbiased documentation process, and fabulous inducement package would have settled this mess. The deed has been done, himself and his accomplices should enjoy the prison concerts. ivolt: It's different when dealing with humans. Offering a part of your body, and by extension, your life, is to be done voluntarily. The UK laws forbids it to be purchased. The moment it was established that Ekweremadu paid for kidney, it becomes a crime. No matter who cheated who, or who was lying. It doesn't matter again. The whole point of the law is that, there are things money should not buy. A human organ is one of those things. If you want a kidney in the UK, find a charity donor. Then if after that, you decide to give them money, that should be seen as a free gesture from you too. Once it's established that it's a transaction, then you're a criminal. 3 Likes |

Houseontherock1:/ Didn't you read the explanation? A donor is at liberty to change his or her mind at any time. Do you know what's "informed consent"? You people cry about quackery in Nigeria and even when shown how things are done in a proper setting, you chose to complain out of your ass instead of educating yourself on the issue. You can donate your own. Apparently, Ekweremadu and Dr. Obeta wanted to pull typical campaign promises on David. The judge gave a sound judgment in simple English devoid of the nonsensical legal jargon and mumbo-jumbo their ignorant counterparts in Nigeria vomit. / 6 Likes |

ivolt: This is what I can do for my driver. Pay him a wage of about N80k month. Give him 2k everyday for transport. Provide him half a bag of rice a month and 5 litres of groundnut oil. He would probably stay in my boys quarters. Warn him not to have more children. If anyone of them is intelligent, I might not mind financing their education if there's an affordable private school or get a lesson teacher. My father was a very generous man. He paid for people's trips to the UK and the US. He once even took a relations 7 year old daughter to the US from our town in Ondo state. This girl could not speak a word of English. Years later, she served as a war medic in Iraq. Now back to the issue at hand. The boy was being exploited and the law states "you can not consent to your own exploitation". If he was adequately compensated, I could feel some pity for the Ekweremadu's but he was promised peanuts and only a fraction of that was paid him and the balance "eaten". To understand me better or things better. I once "supported" baby factories. I felt that it was better to commercialise these "orphanages" and give the kids a bright future than to allow the unwanted babies face poverty. I later realized that life here is involved, and unless sanctions are placed, the kids could be grossly abused. I realized I was actually supporting human trafficking. I don't consider all human trafficking as "trafficking". I could condone some, such as the use of house helps. I feel as long as their employers treat them well, then its okay, The parents deliberately send them out because they could not afford to take care of them and also for the financial reward they gain. If I was Ekweremadu, the boy's welfare would be my primary concern. Nothing less than £20k for the boy. I would also add a monthly maintenance for life and even assist his siblings in their education and business. I am telling you what I would actually do if I had the wealth of the Ekweremadu's. The operation had life long effects and he should have been adequately compensated. It should have been a win-win. Rather, it was a win all- you lose everything. 4 Likes |

There's nothing anyone will tell me to believe that David wasn't aware of why a man he doesn't know from Adam put him on a plane to London. If they wanted to harvest his kidney without his knowledge there are several ways to go about it. There is no young Igbo man no matter how illiterate he is that has not heard of kidney selling. What has happened has happened. Let's just move on. I don't need all these shalaye |
