Have you ever been kidnapped by bandits or any of the hoodlums?

How did it happen and where were you travelling to? How were you released?

Share so others can learn from your experience. It can also serve as closure and help in your healing process.

Every Nigerian was kidnapped in 2015 by APC, re-kidnapped in 2019 and some (except Obidients) willingly stayed back in the kidnapper's den in 2023

A few years back, after viewing some potential sites to construct a proposed roofing tiles factory in a rural area, I was invited to join the two businessmen I had been showing around for a brief gathering at a local watering hole in a southwest Nigerian town. We took separate cars and met at a favorite restaurant where we shared stories while enjoying pepper soup and some beer, unaware that the two executives and their wives, one German and the other from Peru, were under close surveillance by kidnappers also relaxing nearby at another table in the same restaurant.

Soon it was time to depart and I headed home, not knowing that my two friends and their wives were about to enter the gates of hell not far from where we said our goodbyes and drove off into the gathering dusk. The following morning my phone rang, but instead of hearing the German accent of my good friend, I found myself speaking with an Igbo man. Assuming that the phone belonging to my hunting buddy had either been lost or stolen, I asked how the Igbo man came about the phone that he had used to call me up.

Without further ado, the caller informed me that he was a kidnapper and that the two executives were in his custody. Assuming the call to be bogus, I then phoned other mutual acquaintances who confirmed that the two executives had been waylaid shortly after we parted ways at the restaurant the previous day and that the men were kidnapped while their wives were released with the driver and their brand new SUV. As their vehicle had been driving along a rough section of road at a slow speed, TWO vehicles suddenly sandwiched their SUV and brought it to a stop. Gunmen emerged, grappled the men into a beat-up taxi cab, and spirited them away, while forcing their heads down to prevent them from seeing where they were going.

The captives were held within the town that night in a safe house belonging to the gang before then being driven deep into the forest alongside the Lagos to Ibadan Expressway, where they were held without food for ten days, during which they only drank water, and were regularly beaten before being permitted to speak on the phone with embassy officials who later raised the demanded ransom money. The men were released finally before being picked up by German embassy officials, almost dead from hunger and covered with scars from the brutal beatings they received at the hands of the kidnappers.

I spoke to one of the captives much later, and he described being under 24-hour armed guard by Yoruba members of the kidnap gang who were under strict orders NOT to speak with the captives, lest they be shot dead along with the captives. The "supervisor" of the operation was an Igbo man who periodically showed up to handle the ransom negotiations by phone until the money was delivered to the specified location as a prelude to the captives' release near the expressway just as dawn was breaking. My German hunting buddy never quite recovered fully from the mental and physical trauma of that kidnap ordeal, and he died just over one year later from a heart ailment.

It is truly sobering to contemplate how close I came to being caught up in that horrendous experience, and despite carrying a loaded pump action shotgun in my car when driving around in that area to this day, I still find myself, even after the passage of years, on a knife edge of alertness whenever I see any vehicle in my mirror whose occupants seem to be paying too much attention to me. I would not wish a kidnap ordeal on my worst enemy, and it was that incident that made me realize that kidnap captives are rarely if ever given ANY food at all, which undoubtedly explains why many of them simply die even after ransom has been paid.

Let me share this, it happened between kabba and obajana last year November.

Was around 5pm and I was enroute Lagos for an urgent business meeting. Anyone who knows that route will appreciate the speed breaker dangote constructed and how plentiful police mount check point on the road In almost every 2km. That evening was a little different. Few police road block and all and after a while I noticed cars weren't coming so I took a chill pill while I reduced my speed considerably. Car was a 2016 Accord. At some point I noticed cars were parked up ahead and I noticed folks were outside. Looked more like a police check point or so. But I reduced my speed to like 50 just to double check and about reaching the corner I noticed 2 cars were already attacked na so I use reverse dey go. Gun shot sound no move me as adrenaline don over secrete. I use reverse Waka like 3km with heavy gunshot cars behind me noticed and started thesame, some were trying to make a u-turn. I got the chance and Jesus took the wheels as I used reverse to make a sharp turning and matched down hard in the gas pedal. Oboy I reach obajana come park. Other cars too. No security men was in sight. We waited for like 1hr before a police truck passed and we all followed through. Na so God saved my ass. They ended up kidnapping 4 people and killing one that day.

My kid cousin sister was almost kidnapped in 2008.An old short man dressed like a woman[you will know mere looking at him] gave her sweets and hung a water can around her neck, held her by hand as they walked even covered her head with cap[girls round cap that had a matching dress that year] It was like they were sister due to the fact the man was short. As they were going, they crossed our street was entering another street where a cab was waiting for them.It took the grace of God for my mom who was returning from a church meeting to recognize her niece, she confronted the man.She said the man didn't talk because he acted dumb.My mom started shouting to draw the attention of people within.People gathered, questioned the kidnapper. The guy no talk no shake. He was just walking/moving front with his back turned.Area boys just grab am, removed his womanly clothes, omor, this man no be 80old oh.This man was getting to 100 years.no be lie.My mom just took her niece and headed home.she came home and told us everything

I use this medium to apologize to those Europeans at Wilbros, Michelin tyres, Harliburton, Agip and Chevron cool.

2004 - 2009 in PH was Hellish for Europeans.

We set the pace and gave the idea for would-be future kidnappers in Nigeria from, Osisikankwu to Evans and other miscreants and now Fulani herdsmen.

May we never experience being kidnapped!!

I boarded a bus going to Kano from Ibadan on Wednesday 9th March 2022. we left around noon. We reached Abuja, after the Dikko junction to buy fuel around 3 am. It is normal routine when those buses reach Abuja to buy fuel, they would try to move in convoy, our bus was the one in front and others followed.

We drove like 8 to 10km when we heard a gunshot, the first gunshot hit our driver in the right hand, the second hit the lady beside the driver, and the third gunshot scratched the head of the driver but blood was rushing out from his head.

When we heard that first gunshot, I noticed that the speed of our bus reduce, likewise the second gunshot, after the third gunshot the bus stopped and the driver ran out of the bus, immediately, the passenger beside the door opened the door, everybody ran for his/her safety.

After the third gunshot, the shooting now continues unstoppable, when I rushed out of the bus, I hold my bag and my phone because I used to travel with just a small bag that contain my power bank and only one wrapper. Everywhere was dark and those terrorists surrounded us, one bandit ran after me and he caught me when I fell, he collected my phone and left my bag and shouted at me but the only thing I heard in his language is "mallam" "mallam" because he was speaking Fulani language and I didn't hear the language.

He was leading me to the bush when I noticed that his gun was hung in his left hand while he hold torchlight in his right hand, I just used my hand to drag his right hand that hold me from me and I ran back to the highway, he ran after me before I reached the highway, I fell for the second time and he caught me, I did it for the third time and I fell again and I couldn't stand up again because I have weak already.

After I fell, he wanted to carry me up, when he saw one woman running toward our side, it was dark, the woman didn't see us because the guy wearing a black shirt and trousers and I also wore black cloth too, the bandit just left me and ran to the woman, he kidnapped her and before he came back I have struggled to stand up and ran away.

During that time, the shooting continued, with no vehicle coming on both side of the road, I struggled to run like 3km before I saw some people from our bus, the lady beside the driver, her hand was condemned with a gunshot, the driver also lie down with the blood all around him, no first aid, no vehicle to carry them to Kaduna because Kaduna still very far to the spot

Some people need to walk down to the military settlement because the military settlement was about 8km from the incident. The army came to confront that bandit but they could not defeat them. When daybreak, we go back to the scene, and we saw 6 to 8 buses that has been attacked by terrorists, I saw my bag beside the bush but no phone.

The army came to us, they helped us stop a bus to carry our driver to Kaduna, we used an army vehicle to towed our bus to their settlement before I traveled back to Kano.

In the bus I entered to Kano, I met one northern man inside the bus that said 3 people were killed inside their bus and they kidnapped some people.

I have more than 5 kidnapped stories to tell but let me reveal only this one.

This is an absolutely terrifying account you have shared here. No amount of money could ever induce me to visit any part of Northern Nigeria for the balance of my life. You are extremely lucky to be alive. The Fulani kidnappers are in a league of their own in terms of callousness, cruelty and the willingness to kill for the sheer pleasure of shedding blood.

I would share this that happened to my uncle last year.

He's based in Lagos but works with Julius Berger in Abuja. He has one 2000 benz c220 that he uses for travels. On that fateful day, he left Abuja and headed for Lagos. Somewhere in Kogi, some gunmen just appeared before him while he was on high speed. He was on about 160-180kmh that day when they opened fire on him. He didn't bother to slow down. The first bullet landed in the bonnet and bounced up drawing a crack on the wind screen, the second hit the rim, the third hit the side of the car and another on the bumper. After driving away. He stopped to inspect his car, used him join the broken part of the wheel together and continued till he got to Mowe in Ogun state.

That experience birthed my love for benz. The way he maneuvered and the bullet that couldn't penetrate the car body because it has double layer of iron.
