atheistandproud: I think they're at the stage where they're leveraging on their already established market share to get away with the same thing they grew their market share fighting against. Now a good midrange Xiaomi phone is routinely priced higher than a good midrange Samsung phone man and it's not like you'll get the same support or better specs. Na them sabi o. 6 Likes |

TypicallyBrunt: Leverage fire. You're right. The A54 is cheaper than the RN12 Pro+ 5G. I've always told the people who bother to listen to me, not carry brand matter for head like Transsion bots. If a brand doesn't serve your best interest, you move. Wallet loyalty over brand loyalty. 30 Likes 3 Shares |

TypicallyBrunt: It's not only "Xiaomi, even Oppo and Vivo phones are crazily expensive much more than Samsung phones of similar spécifications, more customer support and the sleek Samsung design. I was at a store last week thinking of getting a Redmi, Vivo or Oppo. The three now have something in common. They sell their old phones for cheaper amounts (to dispose them off) while the new ones are overpriced. Meanwhile, Samsung reduces the prices of many midrange phones to make them popular in the market aside from the new features they introduce to their phones all the time. If those guys don't change, soon the market will be against them. I never thought Samsung would perform so well in the midrange market but currently, their doing very well. 3 Likes |

I thought I was the only one that noticed how expensive these phones have become. Techno and infinix are also quite expensive these days with nothing special. An average Nigerian now has to save up to buy a midrange phone. How would a midrange transsion phone be as expensive as a laptop? 9 Likes 1 Share |

I budget 100k to buy new phone by the end of this month but after checking phone prices on jumia and physical stores I weak like over ripped dodo. Even the so called budget devices are over priced, imagine spark 10 pro with Helio g88 processor selling for over 130k, even the newly released Redmi note 12 4g is over 130k for the base version I know say the price go double before the year ends. Android phones are becoming too expensive for my liking, if only they offer the same superior hardware and consistent software experience like apple e for make sense. 5 Likes |

atheistandproud:On jumia the base version is selling for 123k, some seller's are even selling higher than that. |

I've been a fan of Xiaomi since 2017 especially with the Redmi note 4 series even when they didn't have an office in Nigeria. We were getting these phones cos of value for money, these days their phones are pricey especially for the midrange phones. 5 Likes |

True the software update is slow and always sending out bugs because their software teams now have a lot of phones to update. Instead of getting a mid range phone with over #140k, It's better to a get a flagship device of at least 3-4 years back and enjoy value for money. 10 Likes 1 Share |

atheistandproud:They usually turn their phones upside down when reading your post obviously. You preach freedom by making sure people actually understand "what makes up a smartphone", what you should look for at a particular price range and making sure not to forget that Naira keeps crashing everyday. Transsion people will never learn. I've started testing the waters with one small Google Pixel like that. 2 Likes |
