South Africa collapsing continues-> Railway.

Bright Simons.
That a country's capacity to run railway services tracks its overall modernisation trend is clear in South Africa. Dealing with the effects of apartheid & 1-party rule has slowed down modernisation as a devt path. Predictably, railway use has collapsed in tandem.

From 52 million trips to now 1 million trips

That's due to the fact South Africa add a million cars every two years to it's road.

Again when it comes to Africa countries investing in other Africa countries - Kenya is second to South Africa.

It more the failure of Transnet just like Eskom. Prepare for more of this now - road cannot handle all that traffic without heavy investment. The rail was saving your roads.

Dangote refinery was supposed to be completed in 2019 - now we in 2023 - and has overshoot the cost - by 10B dollars.
I am not sure what excitement is about - Dangote will rip Nigeria apart.
And in terms of forex impact - Zero impact - Dangote will take your crude oil that was be exported - add value by refinery.
So you'll have less forex from export of crude - and you'll save from importing from India and rest.

And where you problems begin - Dangote like to sell more expensive than if you had imported from efficient refiners.

You are obviously deluded and don't know what you are talking about, you will never gain much from exporting primary product. There will be no incentive to drive oil production, only giant foreign company and corrupt government entity that can bare the cost will be involved, and they will export the crude with no value added.

There is basically no benefit to our crude being exported, because the FX earned from exportation is further spent in importing the processed and refined oil back into the country and then scarce dollar will still be spent on subsidy to the oil marketers.

Nigeria is now going to have an entire value chain built around oil industry, this will be an inclusive growth, and that's exactly what we need. Nigeria greatest commodity will now be traded in Naira, if you want to buy it, you will need to go and source for naira, and even if we continue with fuel subsidy, it will also be paid for in Naira.

Ghana is really giving you Kenyans sleepless nights.

No matter how hard ZOO Kenya tries, it will still not catch up with Ghana.
Kenya is too backward and undeveloped to catch up. Kenyans even make it harder for that country to get out of the mess it has created.
I wonder where you guys get drinking water from when only 16% of you guys are supplied.

This is what Kenya has to catch up to on the real estate front.

How is Nigeria now when it produced it own cement versus when it imported.

Are you buying cement at almost twice kenya.

Use your brain Dangoteland slave.

Displaying madness again.

The price of a 40kg bag of cement in kenya = $12

The price of 40kg bag of cement in Nigeria = $8

Typical West African behaviour. This are the current rates for a 50 kg bag.

Simba Cement Prices
Simba 32.5R cement – Sh605 per bag.
Rhino cement – Sh615 per bag.

Bamburi Cement prices:
Bamburi Fundi cement – Sh600 per bag.
Bamburi Tembo cement – Sh615 per bag.
Bamburi Nguvu cement – Sh680 per bag.

E.A Portland Cement prices:
Blue Triangle cement – Sh605 per bag.
Green Triangle cement – Sh600 per bag.

Others:
Savannah Cement – Sh600 per bag.
Nyumba Cement – Sh620 per bag.
Rai Cement – Sh600 per bag.

You lose 300K barrel in forex.
You gain 300K of refined fuel.
Zero sum game.
Now Nigeria economy and people will pay off Dangote 25B dollars.
And the man is vampire.

If it was gov owned refinery maybe you will celebrate

But knowing Dangote - I pity you smiley

Dumb fellow.

The economic activity from refining 300k of crude in Nigeria > Exporting 300k of crude by shell.

Government have no business in operating a refinery, Refinery operation is not a social project or infrastructure, it's best to leave it in private hand. Stop thinking like dumb communist.

Nigeria government owns a 20% stake in the refinery, that's enough.

5 dollars per 50kg bag...around 600shs at retail price - 450 shs at wholesale.
10 dollars in Nigeria for similar bag - more than 4000 naira at retail.

Those are facts easily to check.

Dangote is kiling your economy and you're here celebrating.

Nigeria will only benefit in forex term once they EXCEED their OPEC quotas.
Right now they cannot even meet OPEC quotas.

Thanks to vandalism, under investment and stealing of crude.

Nigeria OPEC limits are more than 2 million barrels a day.

Now they are luckly to do 1.3-1.5m.

We cannot lose what we did not have, stop thinking with your anus.

The FX we gain by EXPORTING crude oil is spent by IMPORTING petroleum.
Re: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by Shaytun: 1:48pm On May 09, 2023
rvp20182:
It depends. If you were exceeding your OPEC quotas - definitely refining would be profitable.
For now all the refining profit - will go to Dangote - as he is choking in debt - and need to repay 26b dollars.

So Nigeria need to race towards overproduction of crude oil - so the excess beyond OPEC quotas - can be directed to Dangote.

Oil has not much future in the next two decades.

You don't even know how OPEC quotas work, what an idiot.

The Quotas deal with Production not export, will OPEC tell you who you should sell your crude too?

What concerns OPEC if you sell your Production quotas to India or Dangote, what OPEC is concern about is to ensure price and supply stability in the global oil market

Better roads are being constructed wink

Transnet had been opening new routes every year since 2018

With a bullet train from Johannesburg to durban top of existing rail line.

The moment you stop borrowing to pay salaries, you can come and will discuss roads and rail.... Kenya can't pay salaries but you here masquerading about roads and rail.

Salaries first, kenya can't pay salaries. Let that sink in
