Just wanted to make an additional point that is rarely made in this forum:

There are at least 3 battery technologies commonly used in cars

1. standard wet flooded battery - if you buy a reputable brand like Bosch, it can guarantee you at least 30,000 engine starts

2. enhanced flooded battery - if you buy a reputable brand like Bosch, it can guarantee you at least 85,000 engine starts

3. AGM battery - if you buy a reputable brand like Bosch, it can guarantee you at least 60,000 engine starts

If your car came with 1, you can upgrade to 2 or 3.

If your car came with 2, you can upgrade to 3

If your car came with either 2 or 3, don't even consider downgrading to 1

Even if your car does not have start stop technology, you are better off upgrading to 2 or 3.

More expensive? Yes, but better use of funds and longer intervals between breakdowns due to bad battery

Poster made a wise choice with respect to the battery he purchased

Better make it F not E!

By the way there is another battery technology, lithium, lasts 10 years but I think you have to self import as no one has it for sale for cars in Nigeria and that is why I did not talk about it.

Heat is lithium's kryptonite. A few reviews I've seen won't let me put this in an engine bay. It's good for campers or RTVs as the source of power for utilities not powered by the engine.

Oh thanks. Does this apply to LiFePO4 batteries as well?

My understanding based on what I read is that LiFePO4 batteries are much safer than lithium and not at risk of thermal runaway.

I am actually bothered about Chinese lithium batteries ever since I read that amazon refuses to sell/ship devices that have large Chinese lithium batteries

Particularly all those Chinese imitation hover boards. Seems they are a MAJOR fire risk.

Gloriousgbola, did you drop a link?

If you did consider pasting as picture next time to avoid the wrath of the gods.

That's what I do to avoid the hammer.

Love to hear from you

That said, if you have one of those cars e.g. BMW that have their battery in the trunk, it would be a nice upgrade.

I guess the issue then is the proximity to the source of heat, the engine.

Yea true.
