My brother got married at a local government in Ibadan in 2013 and would like to go ahead with the Canadian student visa application . He was given a Marriage certificate but when he tried inputting the number on the marriage certificate to the government website last week to check the validity, the number was not in the system. I’m afraid that the Visa officer might face this issue when he submits as well. He’s a little worried for now and would really appreciate any advice or knowledge of this matter please?

Which government website are you talking about here? The Unified local government or federal marriage registries?(ministry of interior)? Even some local government marriage registries are not in their so called Unified local government marriage registries. I had this same confusion when I was processing my visa application too.

The legalisation of statutory marriage is an ongoing issue between the Federal marriage registries and the local government marriage registries. Both claim to be the only authentic one. After going back and forth between the two I opted for the local government marriage registry since it's cheaper and more convenient for me. My friend did the local government one and he is in the USA with his family now. You can Google it and make an informed decision from your deductions.

Please don't worry yourself if marriage certificate number or whatever , who tell you that Nigeria as database for those certificates? Even ordinary birth certificate nothing like that.

Stop worry yourself start working on other things, even UK that carry A1 for documents verified they don't bother about Nigeria marriage certificate

Hi people of God, I need clarification, I applied for Mpower to find my tuition fee even though I've not applied to the school, I just saw Mpower went through their website and realized Trent University is part of the school they support, I've not submitted my application to Trent University because their tuition deposit is 2500 CAD (non refundable) thats kind of risky to me.. after registering with Mpower I got the attached mail? I want to ask

How has used Mpower financing here before?

1. Are they going to pay the full school fee ( tuition deposit inclusive)
this depends on the amount you requested for. They may give you the amount you requested for or a little less. No, they will not pay for your tuition deposit.
Note that you first have to apply to school, then get your LOA, use that LOA to apply for loan, Trent tuition deposit most be paid within 2 weeks of acceptance of admission. Mpower doesn't disburse any money to school until you have enrolled at the school. That means you can be approved for a loan however you need to get visa and enroll before the loan is disbursed for you.

2. Does this mail mean I'm actually qualified to be financed? Or there are still more processes to follow?
You still need to provide some documents for your loan to be approved. But it's not as tedious as visa documents.

3. What IRCC's take on getting this kind of fund, will they honor it and will it increase ones chance of getting visa or not?
IRCC honors student loans, I don't know about it "increasing your chance" of getting visa. I know some people on this thread that got visa with mpower loan for Trent university.

4. What do you advise? to go ahead and applied to the school or not it's just for me to pay the application fee but when I saw the non refundable tuition deposit of 2500 CAD I paused.
Lol. It's your choice. Nothing good comes easy. I'm sure if it was that easy, many people would choose this option of not "having any money" and applying for student loan.

Thanks in advance

He shouldn't stress himself. He should just submit the wedding certificate He has along with wedding and family pictures if he has kids.

Please, if I want to state that my parent gave me a house to start an NGO when I return from Canada, would it be OK if my mum writes a letter and sign alone or how else can I prove that?

I sent my passport to Abuja on Monday, it was received yesterday at 9:42 am. Meanwhile, I did biometrics in Lagos, paid the transmission fee, printed the evidence of payment, and also One Way Courier evidence payment too.

My question is, how long will it take to get my passport back?

What was the reason for the visa refusal? I did not apply for GCMS, and I got the visa on the second application.

I am not saying you should not apply for it, it is good. But there are people here that will interpret the reasons for your visa refusal based on the letter given to you on that paper.

Please delete the letter. Then use marker to erase your names, UCI and application no before attaching it. Those info shouldn’t be posted in public domain like this.

I think gcms can only be requested by people in Canada or Canadian citizens/PR. Its just $5.

Maybe that's why you couldn't process it. My thoughts though

No .. anyone can request for it .. I requested for mine twice for free on ATIP https://atip-aiprp.apps.gc.ca/atip/welcome.do
Follow all the instructions and processes . Choose cbsa gcms instead of ircc gcms cos cbsa delivers note in less dan 30days
Can u see dat foreign nationals outside Canada can request but it’s privacy act only

Hello house… Please is anyone going to Thompson Rivers University this September? Or is there anyone who is already schooling there? My study visa has just been approved and I’ll like to connect with someone already there or who is going there so that I can make some enquiries. Thanks
