I agree with you. What the Ukrainian soliders have is will power which was also what Biafrian soldiers had. When there are weapons in willing hands, they don't go down easy. This was how Vietnam was also able to keep the Americans at bay during Vietnam war.

Afghan soldiers on the other hand fled the Taliban despite the sophisticated weapons they Afghan soldiers possessed - all because they had no will to fight.

From my little understanding of this war and war in general, it's safe to say Putin is baiting USA and NATO...

He can as well end the war tomorrow if he wishes, he's only extending it as long as possible to bait NATO into a direct involvement and give them the impression of a weak Russian army that can't even defeat Ukraine.

Ukraine is just unfortunate enough to be the bait in a much bigger scheme.

The aim of usa in Ukraine is to wreck Russia economy. Putin has foolishly brought dangerous nato weapons to his country border. The truth is Russia cannot overspend US and allies over Ukraine war. Russia cannot subdue Ukraine through conventional war. Nuke? China doesn't want it to be used. Tactical nuke? There may be tactical bombing of Russia key infrastructure or city as well which may lead to serious escalation. Poland military is ready for war.
Seriously speaking Russia stands no chance if ww3 or major war breaks out.
