BIOMETRICS:

An applicant with valid biometrics on file can voluntarily re-enroll their biometrics within the 10-year period if they wish to receive a visa or permit that covers a longer period.

For example, a person who wants to apply for a new visa and who last enrolled their biometric information 8 years ago could receive only a 2-year visa. To receive a 10-year visa, they would have to voluntarily re-enroll their biometric information (and pay the associated fee).

If applicants wish to re-enrol their biometrics, they must inform IRCC, when submitting an online application, or the VAC agent, when submitting an in-person application.

Good Evening Guys. Please I need advice. I was nominated for a conference by my organisation a federal government agency to attend in Canada with the corresponding agency there . The issue we have is the conference was announced late and due to bureaucracy we also got approval late and the event is holding first week of June. We have all the documents and all but is it possible in anyway to get a visa between now and the first week of June if one applies this week ?

For conferences that are announced like 2 to 3 months before the date, is there a way to get the visa within the time range for future purposes cos the timelines I am seeing on this thread is quite long. Thank you.

Well, I would suggest you applied first, you never can tell... There is no particular pattern they follow in approving VISAs...I applied September 2022 for a 2022 December conference but till date I'm still waiting for my PPR... though could join the one coming few months ahead...... So just apply and be hopeful... You could be lucky cos I've seen the one approved within one month here....

Thank you. Most times we often don't hope for Canada conferences due to their visa wahala. There's no option for fast track and the waiting times are always too long. We will apply and I believe . Thank you.

Thank you
Emmafe:

1. Use new portal.
2. Kids don’t do biometrics n medical isn’t required for visitor’s visa application. Every other thing is done online.

Thank you
fummms:
you can use the new portal https://portal-portail.apps.cic.gc.ca/signin?lang=en
I believe biometrics starts at age 14, but if your kids need to do biometrics IRCC will inform you.

I would love to take my leave from work and visit Canada. My Canadian cousin has kindly offered to host me during my stay and will provide me with a letter of invitation. However, I am concerned because my passport will expire in approximately 10 months, and I am hoping to travel in July 2023.

Inquiries:

1. Can I still apply for a visa, or should I consider other options?
2. Will my passport's expiration date have an impact on my visa application?
3. Even though my cousin has offered to support me during my stay in the country, will I still need to provide my own bank statement? Additionally, my company is willing to act as my sponsor; should I include their sponsorship information in my application?

Pls I will appreciate help on this issue.

After waiting for long since I did my application last year July, I decided to renew my passport so as not to have delay when im asked to send in my passport whenever.

However I did a name change when renewing cos my passport was the last of all my official documents to not have my current name. I have all the affidavits and all.

So now I've been approved for visa (May 2023, have visa no in my tracker with expiry date), so I'm waiting for PPR. But the issue is that the name (surname and middle name) I applied with is now different from what's on my new passport.

What am I to do?

P.S: noticed comments stating it's not possible to renew passport with more than 6 months validity without declaring it missing or something like that. You can - but with everything in Nigeria it is designed to stress tf out of you. As usual you need to know someone inside that can run it. After all common renewal or first time application get wahala, talk more of the one with change of name plus >6 months validity. Mine was to expire Aug 2024. Renewed April 2023. Yeah, more than 1yr interval.

Pls need help with the above issue. Thanks
