I was still seeing a Yoruba movie on African magic yesterday and was making jokes with my spouse about how the guyā€™s accent usually makes English words sound funny when he acts in movies . I was still saying most of them usually have love child that is in their 20ā€™s already but u will think they are in their 30ā€™s based on roles they play in movies .

Thereā€™s this Chrysler 300 the guy always uses in movies when he acts as yahoo boy /armed robber/ritualist.

RIP to him.

This is why I mostly use my birthdays for reflections and not useless celebrations.
Yes, life is really transient. A person is here now, the next minute, they're gone.

I don't celebrate birthdays also.

During one's sojourn on Earth, which is relatively short for us (modern humans or homo sapiens), it's important to use one's time well for essential activities and with the right people (family and friends) before one experiences that OOBE, a journey of no return.

Dying is a process that involves OOBE, and that's why Yorubas call death irinajo aremabo (a journey of no return).

Having OOBE is like dying, when your soul (consciousness) floats as a ray of light over your body and you watch your body lying on the floor.

When a Muslim cleric was describing his near-death experience (NDE) during a Ramadan lecture, I recalled my own experience when I had an OOBE for the first time as a teen.

It felt like dying then and was very terrifying. But I've had it many times now over the years.

Seeing how his wife ran back inside the car when she tried to intervene, I don't think it was a gimmick. This is who he is. Just unfortunate to have been caught on tape. I'll be surprised if he doesn't land regular slaps on the wife's face when they are alone at home.

I hear the penalty is a three year jail term with no option of fine. If that will make a hero out of him, no wahala. Make e go the jail first.

Notable black people including Martin Luther King Jr, Barrack Obama, Mandela, Oprah Winfrey, and lots of others are celebrated annually during the Black History Month.

Many of such popular people referred to as blacks are brown-skinned. Yet, they're still generally called blacks showing the term "black people" is generally used to describe dark-skinned people and brown-skinned people.

Thus, it's more correct to call the ancient Egyptians black people. Anything else from this is false or doctored history.

Most Africans don't think critically and check things in detail before accepting them as the truth. Thus, they know little about African history.

That's why in this part of the world, most don't know that all Christians and Muslims are pagans once you pray to Olorun, Chineke/Chukwu, Ohmorihi, and other pagan gods worshipped in Africa before its contact with the Europeans and Arabs that brought Christianity and Islam.

All these gods are pagan gods completely different from Allah or Yahweh/Jehovah. However, each of the gods claims the title of God Almighty just like Buhari, Obama, JFK, and other leaders has/had the title of president at one time or the other.

Obama isn't the same person as Buhari, just like Allah isn't the same as Olorun or Chukwu (pagan gods).

I laugh whenever I see a cleric bearing Chukwuemeka calling traditional worshippers pagans, yet the root or base of his own name is Chukwu, a pagan god. Unknown to him, he's a pagan as well due to his name and the fact that he prays in Chukwu's name.

But he's so ignorant that he thinks Chukwu is the same as Jehovah because both claim the title of God Almighty and also because the cunning European missionaries told him Chukwu is the same as Jehovah in their syncretic approach to rewrite his history.

The ignorant Yoruba would call Esu Satan, which is like calling orange mango simply because they're both fruits.

The average African doesn't know his left from right.
The people south of the Nile are blacks. Ethiopians and Sudanese. How then does anyone imagine that ancient Egyptians or their rulers were blacks. Even the bible historically refer to Egyptian Cushites as blacks.

You are also right when you explained that black does not necessarily mean black, but rather African.

Now about your paganistic view of Christianity and Islam. I think you are partly right and partly wrong. You are right in the sense that those names are references of the titles of the gods of religion. But like you said, they are titles. Chukwu, Olorun, Jehova (perhaps Allah) are titles not names. Now they may refer to the same entity by reason of personal imagination or they may refer to different entities. The title you call your god is subjective and not objective even as the title you call your president. For example, if you are in Nigeria and you say, the president has travelled, we all know that you mean Buhari. So if I say to someone Chi di mma (God is good), he knows who I am referring to based on my own belief. It is not a name ascribed to any particular god.

That's very wrong. They're names. All dieties worshipped in Africa before Islam and Christianity are names.

Anyone can bear a title, but there's only one Olorun in Yorubaland, only one Chukwu in Iboland, only one Ohmorihi in Kogi, and many others.

Those are names, not titles.

Allah is also a name, not a title unless you've written your own Qur'an with an Allah different from the one Muslims worship.

I know cooking is not easy thatā€™s why I donā€™t see the need for cooking for days straight just to break a record that gets broken every now and then.

We have hard copy of Guinness book of records 1996 edition in my house while growing up . Most of the records in that book have long been broken with time and people have even long forgotten some of the people featured in that 1996 edition . Maybe thatā€™s why I donā€™t really see the need for going through all those stress just to enter the book .

As for Kaffy truly breaking the record helped her to attain fame but itā€™s just mostly in the Nigerian entertainment industry . Itā€™s not like she started performing for major big artists all over the world . Same way I see this Hilda own will just make her more popular here . Not like the queen or pope or Biden will invite her to be their personal jollof rice chef after breaking the record

This isn't necessary.

Anything that gives positive validity is nice.
Positive records are a good thing.

One carving out a niche for themselves as the best in anything in the entire world is highly commendable.

As for the "Guinness world records", what they do is absolutely fantastic and immensely invaluable.
Just think about this, there are 8 billion people in the entire world and someone provides a service that marks out those that are very unique and have set records in various endeavors of our humanity and existence.

I don't think you grasp what this girl is about to achieve. Out of 8 billion people in the world, she's about to be known as the only person out of 8 billion to have cooked food the longest. She has carved a niche for herself that will boost her brand and popularity after this, not to mention the positive representation of her people and nation. I tell you, there is absolutely nothing to condemn here.

She should be commended and praised. This kind of things are what makes life beautiful. These kind of feel good moments. Moments to cherish.

Unlike Africans, Greeks have specific names for their gods like Zeus and Odin etc.

So you are wrong in the area.

You're just like the typical African that repeats the same distorted and false history peddled by Europeans and Arabs.

Like the Greeks, Africans also have specific names for their gods.

Olorun, Chukwu, Ohmorihi, Osanobua, and many others are specific names of African gods, just like Zeus, and co are specific names of Greek gods, Allah is a specific name of an Arab god, and Jehovah is a specific name of an Isreali god.

Luna, Ohmorihi, Ojo are specific names of gods in the Kogi culture, who are the ancestors of the Kogi people. Those are names, not titles.

All those entities are the chief gods or big gods of their culture, meaning each claims the title of God, and each culture around the world has its own sets of gods and goddesses, each of which is distinct from the others.

Otem would even tell you your Chukwu is an ET that designed early Ibos, who are the forefathers of present-day Ibos, just like Atum is an ET that designed the black people that had existed in ancient Egypt. All these entities people see as God are simply early beings.

Or gifted beings, who we call Orisa (deity) in Yoruba. Orisa means eni ti ori sa da yato in Yoruba or "a person made special or gifted by his/her head".

That's a deep history, especially if you know the history of African traditional religions well. Based on my findings interacting with different Isese (Yoruba traditional religion) practitioners, Otem's histories have a lot of depth.

Isese practitioners in Yorubaland would say deities like Orunmila, Oduduwa, Sango, Ogun, Osun, Yemoja, and co descended from heaven (the Yoruba word they use is rowa); some like Oduduwa did so with a chain or ewon in Yoruba, according to them.

(See the chain of Oduduwa, one of the ancestors of the Yoruba people in the attached picture.)

All these deities are early Yoruba people. Ignorant African Muslims and Christians would say these deities are demons; some foolish atheists would claim they never existed, that they're fictional entities.

You're a big fool if you think Socrates or Plato existed, and Orunmila or Ogun or Amadioha never existed.

Most Africans, including you, don't know the history of your local deities. But it's essential knowledge every African must know to preserve our histories and cultures.

As far as I'm concerned, Chukwu, Osanobua, goddess Ala, Afa (the same called Ifa in Yoruba), Amadioha, Yoruba deities like Olorun, Orunmila, Oya, Ifa, Osanyin, Sango, Ogun, Osun all are past beings, who are the ancestors of present-day Africans, and the same thing applies to Zeus, Allah, Yahweh in their respective cultures.

It's not a coincidence that many names -- of people, states, cities, and towns -- in the South-West have the names of these local deities as their roots or bases. They're names, not titles.

God is a title, not a name. You've gods of religion like Allah, Jehovah, Olorun, Chukwu, each of which is a distinct entity; also, there are gods of football like Messi, Ronaldo.

The practice of referring to gifted humans as a god or goddess (deifying humans) is an age-long practice.

That people call Olorun or Chukwu a god doesn't mean both entities are the same, just like Messi isn't the same as Ronaldo simply because people call both gods of football.

You're arguing blindly and ignorantly. People that make this your kind of submission also say their ancestors are Adam and Eve, when there's no single evidence for such a silly claim.

I don't know how an African is related to Adam or Eve. That's simply false history.

If you're Ibo, your ancestors are Chukwu, Ala, Amadioha, and co. The ancestors of Ijaw people are Fenibeso, Osanobua, and co. As a Yoruba, my ancestors are Olorun, Obatala, Orunmila, Ifa, Oya, Yemoja, Sango, Osanyin, Ogun, and co.
