Warri, filled with youths who are ready to fight at any given opportunity. That city was my home for just 2 and half years. Was working peacefully one day, when i was told that rioting boys had shattered my windshield. I had friends who used to run and abandon their cars on the road when the madness starts. i witnessed these boys fight and loot shoprite that year. wow! was so glad when i finally relocated from there. Warri, not a place to raise a family!
ur useless place was good enough then what were u doing in warri?

mu2sa2:
Food for thought. Even formidable empires, city states and kingdoms have collapsed in the past as a result of wars and insecurity. Look at Ukraine, a thriving, prosperous country being systematically reduced to rubble. Russia itself will eventually face catastrophic economic decline, no thanks to biting sanctions by the West. That's why ipob/esn/ugm must not be allowed to overrun the SE. The violence those criminals are perpetrating would eventually create the Warri scenario in cities and communities across the SE if allowed to continue. Those who criticise Buhari because of the capture of Nnamdi Kanu, the mastermind of the violence consuming the SE, forget that Kanu is a British citizen and as we have seen had and, even now, has japa plans to flee alaigbo to the safety of Britain where his wife, children and girlfriends live.
Sorry, but there's way more crisis in some others parts of the country than SE . Using SE as yardstick is hypocrisy and an attempt to create fictional war where there's none . You also said buhari arrested NK and those asking him to release him are wrong? I need to ask if you knew anything at all about the issue of sit at home which seems to be the only "security challenges" the SE is witnessing. The sit at home is a civil disobedience for the continual detention of NK after the Nigeria court has dismissed all the charges against him. Without bianess , would you say the civil disobedience is creating chaos or the refusal of buhari to obey the court order?

Itsekiri, Urhobo & Ijaw leaders & youths started fighting each other. The bloody fight started around 1999 and lasted for years till 2003/2004.
(that's why we your igbo cousins have the capital so we can protect our state during trying times..)

We have a plan, we don't spill our personals online like other states. We have our own army and not amotekun..You dont want TO PROVOKE our military militants TO CHECKMATE THE NIGERIAN ARMY.

All oil companies that drill in Delta state will relocate their head offices to Ibusa,Warri,Ughelli and Agbor. OTHERWISE THEY WOULD HAVE TO LOOK FOR OIL IN LAGOS. JUST WATCH, WE ARE COMING FOR THEM SOON.

Our governor is acting a fool, when we kick all corrupt ediots in the state assembly collecting kickbacks from the oil company,we will pass a bill banning them from drilling here without their head offices here. If Zamfara can keep gold,we sure can keep oil..

It's closer than you think.

If the western nations wanna be stupid, I'm sure china and other countries will jump at the offer.

Lagos will stand anyday anytime because its located in the most peaceful region in Nigeria. So Lagosians will forever carrying their shoulders to anyone. No one is disturbing the international companies, foreigners are living freely without the fear of being kidnapped or killed.

Reference:

I hope Lagosians are reading. This is the end product of 'our land' syndrome. Eventually it will be yours....alone. Under democracy other states have advanced in leaps and bounds. And when they attain the threshold of infrastructural development there will be migration.

Warri people don't behave properly anywhere in the world. Before I read this today I have always been asking myself why dem dey always fill with wayo. I remember discussing this with a friend who once worked for one of the oil companies there sometimes back. They always have this entitlement, bossy, selfish and deceitful way of life.

I understand there is something called stereotype. But theirs is something else, if any of them try to behave normally, promiscuity will be the negative part....Just watch them

I think their problem boils down to this history.
northbird:
Blame it on the corrupt youth and community leaders. A company comes to your locality, brings all expertise and tech to set up shop and do business.
The next thing, youths gather and strangle the business all in the name of settlement, warri indigenes deserve the kind of economy they have right now. I have never seen such a level of crass entitlement before.
These same people will travel out to advanced countries and behave properly...

That's why most Multinational companies will always prefer southwest states to any other region in Nigeria.

James Ibori vs Bola Ahmed Tinubu

When Econet came to Nigeria, they met with the political class to help them facilitate their operation lisence and Set-up

They met James Ibori who insisted on collecting millions of dollars as bribe

They met Bola Ahmed Tinubu who invested Lagos revenue in their company helping them setup and making profits in billions for Lagos State

When ExxonMobil wanted to build an headquarters, Bola Ahmed Tinubu quickly made available land in Lekki and as the company treasurer he ensured the building was constructed in Lagos

Sometimes it takes strong leadership like that of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Jagaban of Borgu GCFR to control wayward youths and engage them like they did with MC Oluomo and his goons in Lagos

.

You are presenting myths as facts and to be honest a very deep web of lies and deceit.

It’s really sad. Days Warri was the Engineering and a technical hub of all petroleum and Petrochemical companies. I doubt those years will ever return, cos those companies won’t return.

It’s just the bitter truth.

Are you blind to see I wrote as the company treasurer

Tinubu was the Treasurer In the 80s before becoming senator in 1992

I schooled in Warri (FGC) at its peak. Before the decline. It is so sad to see how it has deteriorated. There is a great lesson to be learnt here.

The unfortunate thing is that the youths are yet to learn there lessons. I use to work for one of the telecom operators there. The Deve demands was a major challenge. You can not do business in peace.

Warri has went the way of sapele. The last time I was there, hmmm....it was an eyesore. I shell of its former self

The most annoying thing is the "deve" and the agitation of the youths

People who do not want to work hard but want to live large because a company is in your locality

They were quick to say to those companies if you are not paying deve, leave!!. Now they have left. Who is suffering the brunt

Like what someone said, one man's loss it another's gain.

It would take a miracle for warri to get back to its former glory

Unfortunately successive delta government has not been pulling their weight in development in warri.

Warri has gone ( not went) ......Thanks 💪

True! Though I wasn't there when it all happened. But this case of local tax is still in going on. I stayed in warri for four years and I saw what I've never seen in any major towns. What other people termed development and will be happy about is what warri people will demand money before it can ever take place. I pity people who will move their company to warri with this their community tax problem. That person should jist find enough extra cash before he does that.
Where in warri?

The lesson people have not learnt is that, causing unrest will only harm their own very environment.

Paste and present governors will still keep looting, Abuja is safe and government officials keep getting richer.

If people are manipulated to destroy the little they have, they should also be able to bare the brunt.

Who is doing who!

Please, educate me on how lagos is towing that part?

You single out an ethnic group for continuous xenophobic hate speech, prevention of voting, attacks on their businesses, etc.

The day the Igbos, the ethnic group with the largest pool of capital doing business in Lagos, decide that enough is enough, that will be the end of Lagos as a commercial hub.

It had happened somewhere in the north that I know of, where Igbos were asked to leave by the locals. The traditional ruler of that area, a wise man, called the Igbos and asked them to close their shops for a week so the town could get a feel of life without the commercial activities of the Igbos. It did not take 4 days and the locals realized that they had nowhere to buy goods or get services like electricals, plumbing and basic stuff done.

China controls 50% of global manufacturing. When COVID hit, the global supply chain was hit. Two years later, the world's supply chain has not recovered.

Sapele is very similar. In the 90s we had eternit, flour mill, ATP, BATA, mayflower, power generating company, a mini seaport, cinema at Olympia, athletic club with a standard golf course and several others. But today, none of that exist. The only company there is seplat(and there are indications that the intend to move operational base away). Insecurity had increase because of no job, na everyday dem dey kidnap person. All the beautiful estate built in those days done cast, infact, sapele na dead zone now.

I felt sorry for shoprite that day cos they were just a few months old in the city then. I never liked that place. The funny thing was that, despite all the violence i witnessed in warri during my short stay there, people used to tell me that the violence has even calmed down. That what i was witnessing was small compared to how hot the place used to be.
