For the updates, check the network provider that it was locked to before. If it's AT&T, you won't get updates. Verizon and Sprint, yes you'll get it.

I'm about to buy either a Verizon branded unlocked s22 plus brand new and an ex T-Mobile used s22 plus

Which is better in your opinion and will I get updates?

Verizon will get updates, and can be unlocked eventually. Go for that one.

Yes, it will show Verizon on start-up, but don't let that deter you from buying it. You'll get updates on it here in 9ja, compared to the T-Mobile..

If that's the case it comes down to choice now. I'll most likely go for the Verizon then.

Instead of the branding, i think you should be more focused on the software and hardware conditions of the phone .

I use S20+ 5G, Japan version branded with the au network in Japan and it displays galaxy on booting then au for 2 seconds and then back to galaxy

I upgraded it to os 13 the second day i bought it and it has been serving me well since, good battery life, sleek and sharp. It's 12 gig ram and the snapdragon variant

You do have a point. The branding is just my bias and you know as Nigerians in Nigeria money has to be tactically spent.

I appreciate all the advise I've received so far.

As long as the s22 plus battery serves me well. The rest are negligible.
