You see why you were told not to dive in with both legs @ N3+ yesterday? wink cheesy cool

TRANSCORP will still do well though. ...it will eventually break that 3.12 resistance level and create a new 52W high.
As I said before; a lot of things will play in favour of the sector it belongs, irrespective of who becomes the next president.

For those engaging it for swing trade, a cautious approach is advised. ...otherwise you can relax if you're a long term investor.

It remains a mid to long term play!

It is well

I totally do not agree with you my dear, cause since I joined this forum, no one has ever accurately predicted the date of upward and downward movement of this market. Many have tried it in time past but failed, even Oracle thought the market would have burnt down by now. @currentprice is doing a good work here but OGG is doing better. @currentprice used to breeze into this forum and out once in a blue moon, whereas OGG is always here incouraging us. Could you imagine that I'm already more than 10% up on LIVESTOCK, coutesy of OGG effort. One thing is certain if you must survive in this market, ... always invest with longterm consciousness. Cause most times, the best performing companies don't even move up at the expected time. So, while investing, have like 5yrs target, however, if you make it in 2 months, just thank God.

Please do not quote me if this is not your thing, and it is not mandatory to reply to every post.

I noticed an interesting relationship between Zenith Bank and UBA. They are very correlated, meaning that they tend to move together over a sufficient amount of time. In fact, their correlation is about 0.87, measured from 2021 to date. If we put these together, we get the equation U = 2.66 + 0.22*Z, where U is the UBA price and Z is the Zenith Bank price.

U = 2.66 + 0.22Z is a model describing the linear relationship of UBA and Zenith Bank.
Though it's not my thing, but I must quote you grin
This is really lovely.
The more I learn investing the more I realise different styles actually work. Keep up the good work

@ Sir veecovee thanks for looking out for me.
...I really do appreciate it.
But pls let's forget about the matter of who is or isn't better. ...I'd rather we don't delve into that.

@curremtprice is doing well. ...including many others here like @paemaewumi, @Oracle, @mcy56, @thesilentone, @ositadinma, @Agba, @bullbearmkt, @Mpeace etc.
...even you! yes you are also doing well in contributing to the forum in your own little way.

I don't take pride in anything. Even in everything, I believe am still a learner. wink cheesy cool

We are all here to learn and help each other forge a united front with the sole aim of growing our collective investments/net worth.

Here are some stocks, their fair values, and their divergence from fair value (VPD). I used 2022 reports as my source. PE was as of yesterday. You can see that I sorted them in order of rising PE.

First, I want to take the time to point out that this is not a recommendation, but simply an observation from my tinkering. It is not for everyone, but rather for a few like-minded tinkerers.

I attached a scatter plot of UBA vs Zenith Bank, which shows how the prices align neatly. I then ran linear regression, which you can see as the red line. Linear regression means fitting a straight line to data when there is suspicion that the data has a linear relationship.

The linear regression line, like any straight line equation, has a slope and an intercept. If we put these together, we get the equation U = 2.66 + 0.22*Z, where U is the UBA price and Z is the Zenith Bank price.

U = 2.66 + 0.22Z is a model describing the linear relationship of UBA and Zenith Bank.

Because the line was fitted, if you impute Z, U will vary from the actual UBA price. This is where we can benefit from the equation. Eventually, either the UBA price will come down to meet the estimated value or Z will go up to match the estimate. How do I know this is true? Below is another plot showing the UBA price minus U over time. You can see that the UBA price is always within +0.75 Naira to -0.75 Naira of U Naira.

This suggests that the linear regression model is a good fit for the data. We can use this model to make predictions about the future prices of UBA and Zenith Bank. For example, if we know the current price of Zenith Bank, we can use the model to predict the future price of UBA and and the other way round .
Great use of data!
For completeness you may want to add model performance parameters. I am not sure though how useful this is practically

I feel and like this VPD thing and must have been using it intuitively in stock selection without knowing that I was using the concept. On your picture was the VPD calculated based on your estimated fair value PE dividend by current market PE ?

You are right, Sir. As it is, there is not much use for it, except when there is a considerable deviation of either stock or both from their normal relation. In this case, one can sell one and buy the other, which is a form of arbitrage. This is assuming that the agent that caused the correlation is still in play.

Thanks, even simpler than the PE route I was imagining as both have the same denominator of EPS. It's a concept of high value accretive stance if I pick up @OGG's finance vocabulary grin

The way GTCO is flying. Looks like some FPI's are already sneaking back. Till I find time to look up if their holdings have been updated on morning star. They seem to like GTCO and the 2022 FY and 2023Q1 suggest GTCO has turned around from the low quarterly earnings I & perhaps some others were worried about.

GTCO gained a further N1.05 today to close at N 26.15 While Zenith gained only N0.65 and closed at N25.15
