If you have a son and due to western cultural influence, he identifies as a dog 🐕 and starts barking and doing dog things, what will you do

This is strawmanship which has nothing to do with my point.

It's synonymous to asking if someone identifies as a stone, what will I say?

Well, I would like to hear further from that person and understand how his thought processes works and why he would ever want that but most importantly, I would recognize that it is his RIGHT to do so.

Na wetin I hate pass be this. I have long dreads and pierced ears. I've worked in corporate UK for nearly 14 years now. It's only in Nigeria that I will dress the way I dress and be calculating how to sort the cops because Im wearing my hair down, in a tshirt and shorts, cargos or ripped jeans and trainers, instead of buba, sokoto and pam slippers...

It's why if I don't have access to police escort when im out there, I'm pamming in an international chain Hotel on the island within spitting distance of the venues I need to visit.

Ain't nobody got time to deal with those mofos.

Baba na so naija be. The society itself is judgemental , even ur close door neighbor will think u smoke weed cos u have dreadlocks . Na those kind people dey join police dey profile people up and down .

When i was in Lagos, i used to dress low-key and avoid flashy rides. I’d hop Danfo when there was Uber money if I’m visiting some routes where police are known to harass.

Lagos is even better. The harassment in Port Harcourt is worse. Most stress-free places in Nigeria in terms of harassment are your cosmopolitan northern cities. Never been stopped in Kaduna, Kano, Abuja or Jos.

Even Germany no get that kind rail. Munich to Berlin is 5 hours with the fastest train and 2 hours by air.

Calabar to Zamfara in 5 hours will be an extraordinary feat. I’d pay all the tax they ask if we are guaranteed such infrastructure.

Yeah, it's an exaggeration, obviously.
But you get the point. Obiano was arguing against taxes and I'm saying his point should be about efficiency of the use of the taxes.

It's not necessarily a police thing though, I guess it's the way we've been conditioned. I don't know if it has to do with religion.

If I see you with dreads and piercings on a lonely road at night, my first instinct is to run as fast as my legs can carry me cheesy

grin grin grin. Labour Party is a party of "disobedients".

Someone that a court suspended is standing up to say he is the chairman of the party because INEC only recognised the faction Obi belongs to.

By rule of law, Abure is not the chairman of LP because he remained suspended.

Na Apapa we know abeg grin grin grin.

Confused party

A001, I will like to know your personal opinion on this.

These are 2 lesbian nigerian women, getting married in the US, yet inculcating aspects of their African tradition in their marriage and also religion despite both traditions publicly negating the same sex practices.

How do you view something like this?
Are they right in inculcating their tradition ina same sex marriage which their tradition doesn't recognize and do you think their tradition be altered to recognize this?

This is the thin line where liberalism clashes directly with conservatism. Something you seem to battle with in a way, you want things to change progressively but you still advocate for our ancient conservatism.

How do you interpret this?
I've addressed this issue here before. Cultures should be dynamic. They should evolve and change with the times.

I don't have any issues with LGBTQ+ people. Homosexuality is purely natural, and there's nothing wrong with it, even though I'm straight.

It's completely fine to observe certain African traditions as a gay/lesbian person. The important thing is to select and observe the good aspects of the traditions and shun the bad ones.

Traditions should change with the times, and it's high time Africans stopped condemning LGBTQ+ people and irreligious folks.
Cultures and traditions that don't change and grow with the times die out in the long run.

Homosexuality didn't even just begin in Africa in modern times. Some African cultures used to practice it before the advent of Christianity and Islam, two religions that have killed millions of gay and lesbian people in history, especially Christianity.

Homosexuality and same-sex marriage should be the least problems for Africans. I believe we've more serious issues such as corruption, poor leadership, poverty, epileptic power supply, low literacy level, religious extremism in need of our attention.

Homosexuality isn't an issue at all.

2 weekends ago after the American mall shooting, Some people here were saying how Nigeria is safer for gun deaths because people didnt own guns. That's just 40 Nigerians killed in Plateau alone by herdsmen in the last 24 to 48hrs

A001, do you think these people wont rather have guns to defend themselves instead of being lined up like chickens to be shot for sport

https://www.nairaland.com/7691567/suspected-fulani-herdsmen-kill-40
The solution is to address the root causes of these clashes. But adopting the US gun laws that are largely ineffective will only turn a bad situation to a severe one.
