TheSuperNerd: Akpom has done well enough to get a good premier league team or any good team from anybody the top five leagues to sign him up. That said, against Coventry in the playoff finals, I will be rooting for Luton because we have a potential centre back option - Osho in their ranks. 3 Likes |

TheSuperNerd: Fred Onyedinma is not a benchwarmer , although I haven't talked about Fred Onyedinma for some three years plus or more. Your prejudice has made you become befuddled and duplicitous with your denigration of Fred Onyedinma who is way better than Midfield maestro Nwakali. Who will soon be relegated to another level of oblivion. Fred Onyedinma had been injured for long periods this season and had only just started coming back . But he is a game changer and crucial player for Luton. Gabriel Osho has played 28 games and Fred Onyedinma 18 , but only been benched 5 times this season and was unavailable to play for 27 games due to injury. That's not a benchwarmer. 1 Like

TheSuperNerd: I'm not interested in the other two since they are neither midfielders nor Centre backs. I only have my eyes on the centre back, Gabby Osho, and he is the reason I want the team to succeed 2 Likes |

lovewins:Beyond that Tobi 's case was different, from her secondary school days in Ogun State she was a prodigy the state government and federal government played a key role in her sport scholarship to Texas. At that level it makes the thought about a nationality switch complicated. And that should be how the sport ministry should capture young chaps who excel in sports from secondary school, they should support them and grant them scholarships to the USA to facilitate their development. Many Jamaicans and Caribbean athletes are on scholarship in the USA too. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by lovewins: 11:08am On May 18, 2023 |
M7even: I spoke a bit more about Tobi in a later post, but your assertion doesn't quite capture it. The government didn't discover Tobi, the story of her discovery is public knowledge. Government's role primarily is the platform provided for her to compete at the National Sports festival and the All African games. It was clips of those events her coach saw on YouTube and brought her to UTEP. Government had nothing to do with it. It wasn't until recently when the current Minister of Sports launched the "Adopt an Athlete" initiative that the Ogun state governor adopted Tobi. She was already out of the University then and had gone pro. The closest to government support the Athletes receive is training grants which most have to even hustle for and very few get. Outside that there's little or no governmental support for athletes. It's why you'll see Tobi do a run around when asked in interviews about government support. |

*Yawns* π₯±π₯±π₯± Lying and twisting as usual to save the face of his under average Joes. Fred has played 17 Championship games. Started only 6. Subbed in 11 times and been totally benched 6 times without coming on at all. Came from the bench in the first leg of the Semis playoff and got BENCHED for the 2nd leg. That's a total of 18 games with 13 from the bench. In the FA Cup, he came from the bench in 1 out of 2 games. A grand total of 20 games with 14 from the bench Fred is not a starter. He is either coming from the bench or not coming on at all. He is a Benchwarmer, injury or not. E.O.D. komekn: 3 Likes 1 Share |

M7even: Truth is, Nigeria is just too poor to adequately finance and sponsor athletes. It cost between $50k- $200k to train an athlete for the Olympics. It's why the UK athlete is primarily funded by the National Lottery. Nigeria can also go in that direction for our sports. I saw a figure yesterday on twitter that Nigerians spend 1.3 Billion naira daily on betting. A fraction of that money should be taxed and devoted solely to sports and youth development. It will solve to a large extent the funding problem with our sports. Another thing we should do is primarily discovering talents and positioning them for scholarships in the US to get trained. The US obviously have the best training facilities and like you rightly mentioned, even Jamaica takes advantage of this. We are beginning to do that lately anyway. Majority of our top athletes now are currently in a US university and compete yearly in the NCAA. All our Top sprinters (male and female) are in US universities. We just need to dig out potentials, the US will develop them for us while we seek to get out house in order. 2 Likes 1 Share |

komekn: Kelechi Nwakali - 35 games played. 29 starts. Came off the bench 6 times. Benched without sub-in ONCE. Fred Onyedinma - 20 games played. 6 starts. Came off the bench 14 times. Benched without sub-in SIX TIMES. At least now we both know that the lie you cooked in the post above actually was truth when the right candidate that suits the narrative was found. Fred is that guy. π€π»ππ 10 Likes 1 Share

typicalgamer:Facts Messi will be the lone diff. If he catches those City defenders alone, he will dribble them and still have time and space to think of dribbling Ederson and end up on the touchline and pass to an onrushing Villa or Pedro to tap in. Even if twas the MSN, it would still be Messi making the difference between both teams. I also doubt the Barca backline can cause Haaland issues. Pique can't stop Haaland. Na foul las las. 2 Likes |
