Lol no, people are poking hole in it, because it makes absolutely zero sense.

I’ve stayed in Cameroon before so I have an idea what I’m talking about, how can you compare Yaoundé with Nairobi.

In what magical universe?

Cameroon having that population with higher spending will have been translated into reality, there’s no such reality.

Man. I like your boldness. Intelligence doesn't care who you are. Intelligence's core value is facts. Facts will set you free. I know THE KING OF WUSSES, AKA OBABOON WILL SOON CALL YOU OUT! Call sh*t when you see it. Leave the massaging of @sses to weaklings and kids.

To the point, logically speaking, that thing doesn't make even a bit!

Let's try logic:

How many millionaires are in Ghana or Cameroon as compared to Nigeria or Kenya? Those are the minority rich to the end of that spectrum.

How many people are In Nigeria? Or Kenya and how is the economic development between the two? Let's try PER CAPITA or PPP. Ghana or Cameron might be ahead in percentage but by Numbers? HELL NO.

I just checked WB data - although there max income generated in there system is $6.78 per day _ and their data is outdated as well. Like for Kenya; they documented the data 8yrs ago! What's the point here?
91% of Nigerians live below $6.78 means per day. That means; 9% left are 20 million there about. _ meaning, those who live above the means of $6.78 per day _ THE UPPER MIDDLE CLASS. Are 20Million _ 5times + of what he posted/ although with a $3 difference which still partly covered with the stats for dollar millionaires.
In Kenya; 86% can't afford that! That means 14% of the entire population lives above $6.78 means_ which is around 7.5 million.
Ghana on the other hand; only 7.4million live above that means, which is cool considering their paltry economy.

We can factor in many nitty gritties, like real estate ; lifestyle; City states and whatnot. Cameroon and Ghana can't match Nigeria or Kenya in that regard.

Coming to those in this category <$10. The pointers above should ring volume.

Unless he's just inflating the ego with that tiny substrata of the entire maltifaced index; which is understood.

The world bank data in use is 2020 and 2021.. Now stop crying that it's outdated when all indicators shows that things have gotten worse in Kenya.

Let me even bring this back

jl115:
Shot
@$5.50 a day

SA: 56.9%
Ghana: 55.1%
Kenya: 86.6%

At >$10 only 4% of Kenyans can afford that, this explains why the Kenya market is flooded with cheap plastic stuff from China. It also explains why real estate in Kenya is mostly unoccupied while in Ghana they are fully occupied and why the Ghanaian real estate market offers fantastic options and opportunity especially in the multi family units than Kenya.
Two institutions AfDB and WB can't all be wrong

The size of the Kenyan middle class is 7.5 million using your current population figure of 56 million and that of Ghana is 14.4 million.
As you can see, in absolute figures Ghana beat you as well.

For a middle income country, $5.5 is the lower middle income band and $10 is the upper middle income band. $2.3 - $5 is the floating band.

Kenya has a larger floating band than Ghana

Income stats for Kenya is outdated 2015. Stop rumbling.
This is the verdict of the World Bank in a forecast _ after 2015. The only available WB documentation on our Income state!

“kenya's Robust GDP per capita growth since 2005, along with growth in private consumption, saw the share of the population living below the international poverty line fall from 43.9 to 33.4 percent (2015-2019).”
_ Take notes of the DATES!

The Bank in the report capturing Kenya’s economic health reckons that the gap between the rich and poor is unchanged from 2015, but it narrowed between 2005 and 2015.

Again, you didn't get the logic. I gavr you logic with figures, you're literally repeating same baseless gibberish! LIS, you haven't countered the key points in the argument I made!

KEBS has the recent data too.

Data from the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics, shows that 36.1 per cent of Kenyan households are classified as poor with the remaining 63.9 per cent or 30.39 million being non-poor. This means that a third of the non-poor represents 10.02 million, with majority of them being the “floating middle class.”

AFDB data is 10yrs old. Only a mad man will make reference to it.
The African Development Bank (AfDB), in a 2013 report, identified a “floating middle-class” - for whom a simple shock such as job loss or huge medical bill is enough to impoverish them— and put them at close to a third of the country’s middle class population.

I gave you a win in PC; The actual figures. you're NOWHERE in numbers. Also You can't compete with Nigeria in numbers; maybe percentage wise! You can't match Kenya in numbers either. Get the point. Stop the childish show.

Here another Logic. If you can't grasp this then you're outightly an obtuse.

The single heaviest item in the middle class’ shopping basket, according to the national statistician, is hotel boarding followed by airtime, two-bedroom rental house, beer, rent for one bed-room and personal cars.

They also tend to spend a lot on restaurants, bus fare and insurance for their vehicles.
_ Do you think Ghana has more cars than Nigeria or Kenya? Do you think Ghana has more luxurious hotels than Kenya or Nigeria? How many people in Ghana have access to fiber connection or any type of internet?

Don't use @Jl115 as the SI unit for intelligence. He can't be the marking scheme of what we sat here. His remark is debatable.

Hell! Did you just say only 4% of Kenyans live above $10 means? When Niger and Togo are both doing 17%? That makes me question your sanity. You're an ignorant Buffoon.

Yes upper middle income band of Ghana is 79% meaning 21% of Ghanaians fall in the upper middle class consuming >$10. That's 6.7 million people

The upper middle income band for Kenya is 4% which is 1.8 million people or 2.2 million if you use the actual population size of 56 million @>$10.

On the lower middle income band of $5.5, 86.6% of Kenyans fall below it meaning only 13.5 of Kenyans fall above the 5.5 dollars rate.

This give Kenya a small middle class size of 7.4 million and an even tiny upper middle class.

Go and check the World Bank website and see if Kenya rate on the 5.5 dollars mark and see if it's not 86% which means only 13.5% of Kenyans can consume at 5.5 dollars and above.

For a middle income country, the poverty band are calculated like this
$3.65 - poverty
$5.5 - lower middle income
$10 - upper middle income

For upper middle income countries
$6.85- poverty
$10- lower middle income

Listen. WB is using $6.78 for upper-middle income. Upper middle income is the bone of contention.
People living below the $6.78 means in Ghana are 79% of the entire population. Meaning, through simple calculation, those who spent more than $6.78 in Ghana are a paltry 6.7M.

21/100× 32000000 = 6.7M

People living below the $6.78 means in Kenya are 86% of the entire population. Meaning, through simple calculation, those who spent more than $6.78 in Kenya are 7.5M.

14/100× 53000000 = 7.5M except that this data is 8yrs old.

Let me refresh your memory on this conversation from last year November..

Shma2022:

Cut the crap! Try and read why you have typed before sending. Some of the drivel you post is beyond the holding power of a normal human.

Nairobi is a Dream to many Ghanaians -- yes, even your dwarf president who allows in billions of cedis. How about a normal low-class individual like you? A very tiny percentage of Nairobi is slums. Accra is a slum itself...
Yet Kenyans are the one flooding Ghana for greener pastures because they see Accra as their New York and Ghana as their England for education.

86.6% of Kenyans are if we use the new world bank data on what it takes to be considered a middle class person which is based on a spending of 5.65 dollars a day.

To be above middle class, you have to have a spending of 10 dollars and at this rate, 95% of Kenyans are poor
.

You can check same for Ghana and you'll see why your economy hasn't transformed lives..

At those same rates Ghana has 50% of her population in middle class and at upper class, Ghana has 22% of her population.

It is bad for Kenya to only have 13% of her population in the middle class..

Poorly educated

Refer to the world bank data here for 2023, Kenya has improved a bit
https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/poverty-rate-by-country

At $10 only 4.4% of Kenyans are above it

At $5.5 lower middle income band, only 16.19% of Kenyans are above it (equivalent to the entire middle class size in Kenya)
Everyone below the $5.5 mark is poor or floating which is a whooping 83.6% of your population.

Compare that with Ghana's screenshot below for both lower band and upper band. It explains why Kenya is really poor and no serious manufacturing goes there.

The world Bank and AfDB can't all be wrong

Look at Ethiopia, in absolute numbers they are better than Kenya. Kenya is only slightly better than Ethiopia by a less than 1% in percentage point

Give the Napoleon complex a break hobbit. At the end of the day most people would care less about tiny little Ghana. Chihuahuas bark the loudest.

Go and argue with the World Bank and AfDB

Dwarf, I just asked for a WB link. I don't need bladagesh. We only have one WB data_ Dont thrust data from your utopia wonderland. World Bank data is what I gave you. The data you're making reference to, which says upper middle-income population in Ghana is 21%_ equating to 6.7M the link gives Kenya 7.5M. If you only have 21% living above $6.78, do you think if we extend the means by <$4 the figure will still be the same? Considering the huge variance btwn Each income category! You mad or something, dwarf?
AFDB is 10yrs old. The same AFDB says Niger's upper middle income category rate is 17% _ Do you think Niger population in upper middle income group beats Ghana ? forget about Kenya. I know a midget's inferiority complex won't allow her to accept anything _ this sh*t will destroy your sanity!
Can you explain how Nigerias Upper middle income is lower to that of Ghana?

lunatic dwarf

Even in the face of world Bank data and AfDB data you're still peddling nonsense and asking stupid question as if you don't know how to calculate.

Is 50% of Ghana's population 6.7 million? Basically, Kenya entire middle class is the size of Ghana's upper middle class. Go and argue with the World Bank and AfDB or the Kenyan president for making Kenyans that poor.

You're always desperate for Kenya to be in Ghana's ... Which ever data you believe, Ghana is still better than Kenya on all front. So I wonder what you're arguing

Ghana collects these data every 2 years. So I can say for a fact that Ghana is not part of the sub Saharan African mess of no data.

The Ghanaian living standard report is something that Ghana has done well with. 🤣😂
