He can apply from the UK, but applying from Nigeria is the best for obvious reasons. How long he has been in the UK and the duration of his status is vital if he wants to apply from the UK.
One of the common mistakes that students from the UK make is going for a similar program that they studied in the UK. So, ensure that the intended program complements his recent education in the UK. If the proposed program is the same or below the level of the program he studied in the UK, discuss the course component that is lacking and how the program relates to his career path.

You can apply with him, but applying alone is better so he can use you as an additional tie.

Our situations are somewhat alike. Both my spouse and I are currently on work visas in the U.K. My spouse has submitted an application to study Nursing in Canada (Jan 2024 intake) since March this year, but we haven't received any feedback yet. It has been 10 weeks since the application was submitted, and my spouse applied independently.

On another note, I have been in contact with a woman I met on Nairaland, whose spouse is on a study visa here in the U.K. Unfortunately, her study permit application was denied because her U.K. dependent visa was set to expire within six months, and home ties.

I would recommend that your spouse applies from Nigeria if possible, but there is no harm in trying to apply from the U.K.

I'm a newbie here though I have been going through the page

My spouse is currently in UK on student Visa. He will be done with study by December 2023. He applied to a school in Canada and got admitted for January intake but want to defy to May 2024.

1. Can he apply for his study visa over there in UK or do he need to come back to Nigeria to apply?

2. Do we need to apply for my SWOP or it better to apply when he gets his visa. I'm in Nigeria. Note that he has a job, land property and age parent as home tire

Our primary concern is if he can apply in UK

I don't know if there is anyone that have applied from UK and got his/her study visa

Our situations are somewhat alike. Your wife’s friend is right but you need to weigh your options. Being that she has only OND, she may have little limitations in terms of schools and all, but I understand you guys may not generate much income if she is the dependent. You have an upper hand with the degree you have, and you could apply for a 2 year pgde or graduate cert. course in your discipline (cheaper), and she would be the dependent, if she can work sha. If you eventually find a school that takes only OND (I’m assuming you’re not going through an agent), then by all means, apply and be the dependent. Just make sure you are applying for a post graduate course because if you apply for an undergraduate course, she would not be able to go with any dependent.

The study gap is not an issue per se. It can be written for you. Not even a big deal. Your SOP would also help back it up.

To answer your last question, you have enough home ties.

Please note that I am an agent, and this advice is coming from the experience I have, having secured admission for hundreds of applicants. Good luck.
The bolded is not true...from my own personal experience..with the following reasons: I am currently on open work permit in canada while wife is studying undergraduate program in canada i have Bsc already..

For your own good, use
11,000 cad for living expenses
3,000 cad Miscellaneous is ok
First dependant: 4,000 cad
Miscellaneous: 2,000
Second dependant: 3000 cad
Miscellaneous use: 2,000 cad
Third dependant: 3,000 cad
Miscellaneous: 2,000 cad
Tuition: 18,478 cad = 55,000 cad = 18.9m or thereabouts won’t be bad
Make sure to have excess in ur account for return tickets (at least to show them u have enough to return back to your home country)

@BAMZ555,
Please, I run over the calculation, I realized that the total figure should be CAD 48,478.
I want to ask whether this amount will be fine on the statement of account for family of 4. Using 345 exchange rate, about #16+ on statement

Well lucky you. I have a partnering body over there and they do not advise that. I have never had to process it for people. I would put it into consideration henceforth. Thanks so much for the correction.

Hello everyone,

I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for the immense knowledge and information I have gained from this forum. As a way of giving back to this wonderful community, I am offering my assistance to those who are new students heading to (MTL) for the first time, as well as those who have questions about Concordia.

To ensure clear communication, please articulate your questions and send them via email. I will do my best to provide the guidance and support you need. While I am more than happy to provide guidance and support, I must emphasize that I am not an immigration agent. It is important to remember that Canada is a vast country with different rules and regulations that may vary by region. Therefore, my answers will be most suitable for individuals who are heading to MTL or are in the process of applying to Concordia.

Thank you for the opportunity to give back to this community

I rounded it up to 55k because of ur purported return tickets. U don’t plan to have exact amount in account.
See anything is possible with individuals, what I have is just a guide. And yes d calculation is for family of 4

I was offered admission into Trent University Ontario, Peterborough, Canada for a PG Program.
I'm about to apply for my Visa for the September intake, once my visa is approved, i plan to take like 3 to 5 months to learn a skill i can use to survive out there.
I can see that there are a lot of people who has lots of experience abroad.
Someone should suggest a skill i can learn that make me decent amount of wages over there. At least 20 to 25 CAD per hour.

Also, if there is anyone who has live in Canada, I'll appreciate any word of advice

Is anyone among us processing PGD for September intake 2023, Trent University Canada??

Hope you are looking at your calendar? You don't have to wait for your Visa to be approved as you don't know when the Visa will be approved. So better start now

Hello Chief,

Sorry to butt in but I’ve seen your post quite a few times and I’m sorry about your experience but I’ll like to share mine to encourage you + the steps I took.

I’m in the UK and I applied for a Canadian student visa on 3rd April. Somehow, I got granted a visiting visa I had applied for since February of 2020 (just before Covid lockdown) later that April (last month). I got a correspondence letter for my study visa in the same April and everything went silent.

I sent my passport for the visit visa stamp and on the day I got it back (last week), I sent a mail to the London office politely asking why they granted the visit visa instead of the student visa. In 30 mins, the office replied with an apology and a PPR notification.

I’ve sent my passport back to them.

All I’m saying is, you should send a message to the London office - if you haven’t already.

You did not say anything about your career path, If it’s in Tech you have to study hard and get one of those certifications like Comptia security +, CCNA etc. Very very important. If you don’t know programming start looking into python. But certifications >>

Follow the example to add hypens to your UCL.

I know that after the first two numbers, there is a hyphen and then another and a hyphen then the rest of the numbers.
