It has nothing to do with being shallow minded. For me, I don't joke with my cinematography as regards movies, and we all know there's no way a movie with 80s cinematography would remotely match what we have now.

So for me, once the cinematography is not up to my taste, i loose interest in the movie, no matter how great the plot is.
have you seen the Godfather trilogy?

Searching (2018) : 8.5/10

I saw the trailer of “missing” at the movies in Dec last year, I remember being awestruck at the similarity with “searching” , turns out, it is the same producer, anyways I made a promise to myself to watch it whenever it premieres, but I’ve been busy. Netflix did me a solid by adding it, to their list of movies.

In order to watch “missing”, I decided to rewatch “searching”, and I was reminded why, it was one of the best movies I watched in 2018. I was still impressed with the whole third party view thing, they did with the computers and cameras. I love the storytelling and the slow buildup. Even though I knew “whodunit”, I still liked the unraveling.

Love this movie. Definitely one of my top 50 thrillers.

Time to watch “missing”……..

Missing (2023) : 7/10

It was alright , but not as good as "searching". There were discrepancies with the whole password thing. The plot wasn't just adding up in my brain (bit of an overstretch).

Still will watch a third movie from this producer though....

Calm down bruh.... I don't think anyone was expecting The Little Mermaid to do well in China. Even "Mulan" specially made for them was a massive flop.

Nevertheless, TLM looks to be a box office success no matter what detractors say.

SISU.....6.7/10

I did enjoy the movie but I couldn't help notice the insane plot armor. At a point it felt like they Nazis were trying to keep him alive rather than kill him. They seemed way to incompetent

The Nazis had like 4 clear chances to finish Korpi off but they always took the wrong decisions. Their leader kept giving the worst commands...

Dude literally just killed about 7 of your men...instead of shooting him, you decided to wait for him to finish packing the gold?
Or telling the dogs to get him when you had a clear shot at close range?

Worst was hanging him...someone who has a nickname of being immortal...at least ensure he's dead...
What happened to blowing up his face with lead? Why hang him for half a minute and assume he's dead?

The whole subplot with the women prisoners was cringe too...

Anyway, Korpi was still very badàss but the enemies being so incompetent does affect his image to me. I don't see the John Wick comparison at all

These are two beautifully made biographical movies, A true inspiration for the dream chasers..my personal favourites this year so far, definitely recommended for those who haven't seen them yet💯

MJ himself specifically recommended Viola Davis to Affleck to play his mum and she was incredible

Guy Ritchie's The Covenant .....7.5/10

Premium action movie with all the right ingredients and fight-piece. Jake Gylenhaal is a good actor... I feel he should be bigger than his current trajectory.
Prolly my next best movie from Guy Ritchie's staple after "The Man From U.N.C.L.E."

Funny how most people seem to miss "Homelander" himself. 😎

Have you seen Guy Ritchie's wrath of man?

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL 3 REVIEW

A SATISFYING CONCLUSION TO A SPECTACULAR TRILOGY

GOTG 3 is James Gunn's swan song and final entry in the MCU and as you would expect, it is very good and entertaining movie.

This movie packs a punch with everything you'd expect from a great MCU movie. It has a very good, compelling and emotional story. Great action sequences, beautiful visual effects. Satisfying characters.

Every Guardian in this movie has moments where they get to shine very well, even Kraglin and Cosmo had their moments. Peter Quill was fun to watch. His arc was nice and he got a satisfying send off.

The Russo Brothers really put Gunn in a tight spot when they killed off Gamora and brought back a different version of the character. But James Gunn showed his amazing skill as a writer and tackled that situation head on by introducing a whole new theme of dealing with loss and learning to let go.

Mantis and Nebula were fun to watch in this movie. Drax is also funny. Although the humor in this one is not as good as the previous films but it was okay overall.
Groot was fine and he seems to have evolved into a more efficient member of the team. The way he utilizes his body in this movie was really innovative.

Chukwudi Iwuji as the High Evolutionary is a perfect casting. He brought his A game and delivered a very good performance as the villain.
The High Evolutionary as a villain is well written. He is a sadist, powerful and terrifying. He means business. The movie doesn't just do pointless exposition telling you how evil he is. They actually show him doing extremely evil sh*t. There's a whole action sequence where this guy nukes an entire planet. He's the best villain in the trilogy.

The story is very emotional, so moving. Especially Rocket's backstory. It was painful and soul crushing.
There was a scene where he asked if he could follow his old friends but Lyla said "No, you still have a purpose here".

Everybody in my theatre was silent when that scene played out.

Guardians of the galaxy is mostly funny and lighthearted. But vol 3 gets very dark and gritty. The movie makes a point against animal cruelty by showing some gruesome unorthodox experiments metted out on poor creatures.

But don't worry. The movie is not entirely dark and gritty. The other half of the movie is lighthearted and James Gunn does a great job balancing tonal differences.

Another thing I love this movie is the personal stakes.
The guardians are not trying to stop a world destroying egomaniac. Instead they are in a race against time to save the life of a friend.
This makes for a more heartfelt and compelling story. A much better story than GOTG 1 and 2.

The visuals in this movie is very well done. It's beautiful and watching this movie you can tell that the VFX crew had plenty of time and room to do an excellent job.

The action is spectacular. James Gunn is a great action director.
There's this one take 4 minutes action scene that he did in some kind of hallway with all the guardians. It was so good. I can't wait to see it again.

The one thing I dislike about this movie is the subverted expectations.
The trailers give you the impression that someone is going to die, as a matter of fact James Gunn in one of his interviews implied that not all of the guardians will survive.
Well, now I've seen the movie, I can tell you for a fact that all of them survived even the villain.

There's a new character in this movie. Adam Warlock. I didn't care for him and I thought he stuck out like a sore thumb.

Overall this is a great movie. I think it's tied with GOTG 1 as the best in the trilogy.

Top tier MCU. A diamond in the rough considering the fact that MCU overall is at its weakest right now with a forgettable phase 4 and a phase 5 that started with a crap Antman movie.

GOTG 3 is refreshing. A satisfying movie that reminds us how good the MCU can be.

My rating…. 9/10

Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3
I decided to watch this movie in Filmhouse IMAX for the first time and it was definitely worth it
This could definitely be the best MCU movie after Winter Soldier for me.
The intro of this movie took the number one spot of the best intro after its predecessor GOTG Volume 2
The pacing of the movie is incredible and there was no time I was bored. Nowadays where MCU humor is so bland and unoriginal, the humor mixed with its awesome dialogue just did it for me😌
The only thing that didn't do it for me is the emotions they wanted the audience to feel..... but maybe I just need to rewatch it to fully grab sha
A perfect 9/10
