With this news everywhere about UK banning int'l students from bringing in their family.

Advocates of "come first bring your family later", I'll like to hear from you

You can only act on legislation, as it pertains to current situations........

If the regulation changes, you act accordingly......

Applicants now have a choice, go elsewhere or bring CBN's vault.........

Laws was made for man, and man got the unique ability to adapt, switch or change.....🤣😛

Good evening people, is it advisable for a family of 4 to relocate with their kids instantly or should they leave the kids back at first and come over to get to know about life here? people talk about school commitments and how both parents can't attend that and also work, dropping of kids at school and picking them also. Is it something that can be managed or do they take their time before the kids come join them

It’s depends if your children can stay on there one but it’s risky as no one can know about a
Child of under 13 staying alone is a crime Id advise you put them back to naija till you balance up especially now that gettin work is very difficult. I pay up to 700quids for child minding and if you don’t earn a lot it might be so hard to keep up with. Unless if the money dy parenting, schooling and working is difficult thing to run simultaneously in the uk. I am just coming up depression omoh e no easy here o

Madam,

Only if you know how grossly underpaid core professionals are In the uk, you wouldn’t be saying this. A pharmacist with 2 kids who took a side gig for 3 months probably to cushion the effect of the cost of living crisis, if she was paid well enough, she might not have considered it in the first place. She was already suspended , why fire her after suspension and the whole issue seems overflogged.

Sad about the ladies situation but let's call it for what it is she was dishonest. Earning from 2 NHS based roles at the same time. How is she going to do two 9-5's at the same time! Total dishonesty.... then she lied calling in sick whilst at the other job If she took a second gig on her days off, she would been able to defend herself as what you do during your time off can be argued.
A lot of pharmacist but NHS employed and Private do extra locum shifts to earn more....being honest is part of being a pharmacist professional.

"How come?" grin

Everyone should just chill o! You're just 3 months here. In fact, what do we all really want a good credit score for? Do you intend to get a Mortgage really soon.

Building a perfect Credit score takes time, even years! One major factor is the age of your account and residence at a particular address. So, please give it time.

Just ensure you're doing the right things: paying your bills on time, etc. It will grow with time. Make it a 2-year project if possible. Within that period, don't rush things like trying to apply for too many credit facilities, it will backfire.
Don't move houses or bank accounts too often,
don't use more than 25% of your credit limits, don't carry a lot of debt,
Set up direct Debits for bills, but ensure your Account never gets overdrawn,
NEVER miss, default or be late on your bills or credit repayments,
Check your records with Experian, Transunion and Equifax regularly to ensure there are no errors.
Mix things up: phone bill, credit card, council tax, overdraft, etc.
Ensure you're on the Electoral Register early
Avoid CCJs, IVAs, etc cos those one can mess you up for 5 years or more.

UK Banks don't use only Credit score like USA, so while Credit score is important, being responsible, earning well, etc are more important factors for getting approved and lower interests.

I actually wanted to write a few lines but I decided to pour it all out. There are probably over 10 points here so do them slowly over the next 12 to 18 months and you should be better off.

The longer you stay and older your accounts, the better for your credit history and score. Keep paying your utilities, taxes using DD though I'm not too certain if Monzo reports it to credit report companies.

I would suggest you review your report to figure out what you are doing right or wrong.

God bless you, poster.

Too many self-righteous people on this thread. So quick to judge and condemn.

The affected poster can walk into other care homes like you rightly said and look for work. Thank God the 20 hours restriction for caregivers to work with other carehomes aside their primary sponsors have been temporarily lifted.

He will find help and favour in Jesus name.

kwakudtraveller:

I think the problem here is a lot of people lack empathy, granted there’s some lesson to be learnt from this but knocking someone when they are already down and still making a case for their comment is beyond me. If the person brought only one month’s rent, shouldn’t it be obvious that that’s the only money the person has. My wife’s friend told her that her Nigerian classmate committed suicide recently in this same UK. Only God knows the struggle this guy must have been going through and the things that he heard.

On this Nairaland, the need to always be right dey off me, a lot of people have some self reflection to do because nobody knows it all .

Anyway, OP should just take an aggressive approach in his search, and walk into care homes and tell them he is looking for work and ask if they are hiring. May God see him through these difficult times. I go drop small prayer for am today.

I have a family of 4, and we all came to the UK together. We were lucky to get an accommodation within one week of arrival last year august, but i guess accommodation is scarce for couple with kids currently. Honestly, it hasn't been easy up till now. One person must stay with the kids while the other works full time. The former only gets to work when the later is off duty. To survive in the UK sufficiently and have savings, you need two fulltime working adults. However, one person might be doing night shifts while the other does day shifts, if the jobs are available. These are the challenges.

If you choose to come without your kids, you will make a lot of money and save massively. This new impending immigration rule will only affect new Msc students' visa applicants.

My advice would be, if you are on tier 2, come without your kids.
If you are yet to apply for student visa, plan to come with your kids.

Cheers

Guys how does ecctis work now?

Can I upload my documents ( transcript, English letter and certificate) myself when applying

OR

The university would have to send the documents to Ecctis themselves.

If you have someone to drop them with then come separately will be my advice. Once you settled it would be easily to get them here.

If you don't have who to drop them for...then family will hussle it together. Might not be easy but God dey

As in, do I need to upload COS to complete ECCTIS application?

Your moniker is quite apt. cheesy

It's your choice, you can come with your kids but know it won't be easy as it may take up 2 months to get Accomodation and a parent has to be with them while the other is either at work or school so it would be tough but leaving them behind has its own cons too so just choose and brace yourself for the tough times ahead many of us here have had to pass through.

In addition, no more switching allowed and more scrutiny on maintenance funds:

The package will also remove the ability for international students to switch out of the student route and into work routes before their studies have been completed "to prevent misuse of the visa system", the government said.

As well as removing this right, there will also be a review of the maintenance requirement for students and dependents and a crackdown on "unscrupulous" education agents "who make use of inappropriate applications to sell immigration, not education".

Applications will be more closely examined as well, so best to avoid any breaches of the rules:

Improved and more targeted enforcement activity
