One thing i can tell for sure is that a large part of the "benefits" are mental/psychological and to really enjoy the whole process, you have to supplement it with other self-improvement activities ( exercise, eating fruits, no smoking, no processed sugar drinks/food, taking out time for yourself to do things you love etc etc)
