In as much as I fault any form of fuel subsidy removal due to d hardship it will brings but I THINK Dangote refinery will have an impact as a result of no "landing cost" and several other miscellaneous involved...

If a litre of fuel is sold for #500, d ripple effect would be devastating in this current situation we are in.

Yes but Dangote refinery never begin full operations.

I bolded the part I was responding to. You claimed " if Tinubu actually removed Fuel Subsidy without" . He didn't remove it. Buhari did.

However he and any other top presidential candidate was/claimed to remove it
I'm not in the mood for all this needless back-and-forth, oga. Removing the subsidy now will be catastrophic.

Your are mixing everything and missing the point....removal of subsidy right now is multiplying the masses hardship by 3...

I didn't miss it up. I bolded the part that I was responding to. Tinubu can't do anything about it. It has already been passed and money collected by previous government for the removal. The timing is bad but it has nothing to do with Tinubu.

It has even been discussed here that Buhari should have allowed the incoming president to do the removal. Buhari did it as a clear "fvck u" to any winner of the election

Fine we discussed this here pages back. What can Tinubu do? The government has collected money from World Bank(not sure if it is them). The budget didn't make any allowance for it. Will you approve Tinubu borrowing before the end of June to fund Subsidy for the rest of 2023 fiscal year

So segment d removal till it commences......

The problem here is people are yet to realise that our lives/everyday activities as a Nigerian is handcuffed by the almighty fuel

I don't know why some people don't have a simple understanding of issues. Even if fuel goes for 450 - 500 naira per litre at this moment, there will be social unrest, chaos, and riots.

Exactly what I feel too. At least that time the marketers would not be bearing landing costs and other associated cost that will be passed down to the final consumers when subsidy is removed .

That way if we are supposed to be buying like 750 per liter , we will be paying like 450 instead ( since the cost of freight from the refineries in foreign countries and clearing won’t be considered with Dangote working close to us )
Damn bro. This removal was too hasty. Even me go feel am die cos I know how much I burn on petrol daily.

Tinubu really want to start receiving early curses from oppositions and his street warriors alike, cos not everybody understands the reasons for the removal.

This man ought to have waited until grounds are level to avoid the negative impact it will have on the lives of the people now.

E go red

I'm not in the mood for this discussion, oga. All I'm concerned about now is to verify the news and start preparing for the tough times ahead.

I understand the logic why subsidy has to go but managing the fall out is what has always bothered me. Can Tinubu afford to have his economy getting shutdown by labour strikes for weeks? Plus it's hypocritical to have resisted and attacked Jonathan for the same removal you now want to implement.

A001:

Don't get your hopes up about the incoming BAT government, bro. If it's actually true BAT has removed the petrol subsidy without even giving Nigerians some time to prepare for the tough times ahead, then people will wish Buhari was still the president as woeful as the outgoing administration is.

I hope it's not true BAT will remove the subsidy in this manner even after NUPENG warned him not to take that step hurriedly.

Words have always been easy to say action is where the difficulty lies. Let's see how he will succeed where OBJ, Yar Adua, GEJ and PMB failed.

Until the courts say otherwise I wish President Tinubu aka Baba Seyi all the best. His success will be our success so I wish him great health and wisdom.

Amen.

Congratulations to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu

It is time to revive the economic realities of Nigerians after the shambolic 8 years of failure led by Buhari.

Asiwaju, like you rightly said, “no one should pity you, that has been my position to all the presidential candidates because you all know the rot that has been left behind. The failures of Buhari would not be used to excuse yours.

I wish Asiwaju well during his tenure, it is my hope he embraces every region and pursue balanced development across the Nation. It is time to work, the time is now, the clock has started!

Let me assure you that I will drag whatever is left of you if you fail Nigerians because Nigerians deserve a reprieve from bad leadership.

Ire oooooo!

Accountability...Tinubu will be held accountable and as you rightly said, excuses won't cut it.

No. Theres subsidy payment in the budget till June.

Tinubu is owning the fuel subsidy with his full chest, nobody is going to blame Buhari for the fallout.
Till June of?

It was obvious fuel subsidy was an APC thing, that's why when you guys were shouting that Buhari was laying bombs down for Tinubu it was laughable.

Tinubu reaffirming subsidy removal is good for optics.

Infact what is Nigeria without affordable fuel

We can survive with corruption and many other vices...Removing what the average man enjoys as a Nigerian is death to him/her in disguise

The funny thing is most people won’t understand the effect until coming days when transport costs will go high up, cost of powering households go up, productions costs go up and general costs of running businesses go up in the absence of stable electricity .

I’m interested in what labour leaders will do about the matter sha .
Well they did collect that 800 million USD loan abi, that's what the party told Nigerians they'd use to assuage the effects of the subsidy removal.

Coming days would sure be tough, but I like that he's starting his government this way, by making the tough decisions early, let's see how they manage the fallout.
