I hate being around people.I don't trust people and find it difficult keeping friends.I enjoy being alone.Am a very sensitive person so I accurately feel when accepted or rejected by any one even when they don't say it

The only solution is to expose yourself more often to social situations.

You can make it a goal to collect at least 3 phone numbers of strangers every time you go out.

Don't always hope to be approached. Be the first to say hello. Cause most people are also anxious when meeting new people.

Remember, everyone think they are the centre of the universe, and they are often wondering what people think of them.

The more you practice talking to strangers, the more confident you become.

Keyword: Practice.

For me, I imagine that the next person is just as socially awkward and scared as I am, and this helps me to approach from a mindset of understanding.

There are a lot of conversation starters. Do they have a tattoo, a piercing, a dog, a car? Show genuine interest to know them as people love talking about themselves.

You don't always have to talk. Listen. Mirror their behaviour, and try to call them by name once or twice.

People loves hearing their name. At the end the stranger would be like "Damn, this guy is so cool!"

We keep quiet and avoid interactions especially in groups not that we do not have what to say, know how to say it or know when to say it but because we know from little experience that we most often times have contradicting views to the norms of the groups and we conclude... positively...that our contributions would be misconstrued.
And most times when we manage to try to contribute, we find out that we are right.
So we've grown into bottling up our views unless when the situation strongly demands.

We no longer trouble ourselves with socialization because it saves us psychological stress.

This is common among Realists and/or Atheists.
