nineville: Check the eligibility requirement of the job you are interested in. Some jobs are open to everyone, some are restricted to UK Nationals while some are reserved for BC (not dual citizens) typically jobs in defence or intelligence/counter terrorism. There’s no one size cap fit all. 2 Likes |

Does anyone know how to or has anyone joined the British Army on here? Just curious cos I see Nigerians joining the US army but I barely see Nigerians in the British Army or Navy |

Peerielass: It's ridiculous. I have reduced my comments here. Zahra keeps quoting me to explain how dependants are benefitting off the system. The same dependants they claim come in without fees and have to work so hard to pay up. Working hard = Paying heavy taxes. Someone mentions his Salary and everyone goes crazy. People are quite bitter about other Nigerians coming in My advice is: Cry all you want, as long as it's legal, Nigerians will come in. When the UK stops admitting them, they will stop coming in. This thread doesn't support illegal stuff and every dependant entry to this Country is legal and approved by the Home Office. They thought long and hard before implementing the immigration policy that is letting students in(quite poor though). Australia, Canada, Germany, Poland are their competitors in this "supermarket of global talents". On the Salaries, people earn well and I'm excited when I see people open up about their income. We all agree the average Salary here is really low compared to cost of living or income in US for instance and we immigrants can strive to get those high-paying roles if we have the skills (and many of us actually do). If you're in or around London, go for those £50k+ roles, there are so many of them. A good example is Business Analyst, the entry barrier is so low and you can earn well! I will try to keep giving my long epistles of advice as I think I owe it to the thread. I learnt a lot in my first few months. 23 Likes 1 Share |

Hi Everyone, I wonder what jobs a disabled gentleman (a physical disability so is not very mobile as uses crutches)might be able to do? He is a Medical Lab Scientist in Nigeria so quite bright but has recently relocated on a dependants visa. I see we have a 3rd thread. Long may our thread survive. ( He needs uk experience before practising lab medicine here but wants to be productive in the meantime) |

hyzich:ICAN bro. You should convert if that’s what they want. My employer doesn’t really care, what is even funny is that during background checks, the company they used did not ask for one single proof of my qualification, not even my university degree. |

Can I drive a car that is not insured under my name? My uncle has two cars and he suggested that I start driving his other car, which raised questions about insurance. Also, I chose a contract SIM and provided my sort code and account number, but I haven't seen any direct debit set up on my account. Do I need to manually set up the direct debit? Please Advice my people. |

yomisley:your name needs to be on the insurance, and DD doesn't happen immediately, there is a specific date they debit you, usually after a month or they round it up so you can start being debit first week of every month. 1 Like |

The argument for and/or against student visa, dependent visa, Home Office, immigration etc has become stale and boring. Whatever side of the divide you're on, don't worry, you win. If you think you're making sense by buttressing your points any further, you're not making sense again. 3 Likes |

Learnt they've temporarily suspended such recruitment for now. The Army and Airforce team were on campus recently when they mentioned that. Awon werey ...now the trick they all use is tell you that you have to be in the country for at least 3 years hustla: |

Newbie123: I think this is very straightforward. Of course, where you can, always check eligibility first. If it doesn't permit you to put your overseas address and insists you put 2 years residency, then it means that the eligibility criteria is "minimum 2 years in the UK". If you insist on getting a credit card, try others, there are so many of them. My Bank still tells me I'm ineligible for Credit card, last I checked but I have 2 Credit Cards from other providers. As for your score being 968, that's very very high! With a score that high, you don't have to chase after credit cards. 1 Like |

Hello everyone. Pls help my friend, he's been a victim of dependent visa in the UK. He met the said wife few years ago and they developed genuine relationship leading to marriage. Unknown to him the lady only stayed in the relationship and pretended to be in love because she knew of his plans to travel abroad one day. Her parents supported her in all of these and deceived the guy and his family with marriage, he found out the truth few months after they arrived here. He's been devastated and depressed a lot of times. He spent 80% of the money to get them here. Aunty has ran away from home and changed number, she blocked him everywhere and keeps uploading nice pictures online. Has anyone been in this situation or knows someone that has been? How can he get justice pls. He has all evidence that relationship was genuine. I will be in the comments |

UnconventionalT: If this is real, this is very cruel. I think he should just start chasing his own sponsorship as soon as possible so he's no longer dependent on her. He can seek his justice best when he has his personal visa. 4 Likes |

After Jan 2024, Assuming I’m on PSW dependent partner visa and I switch to student visa to pursue a masters degree. What happens to my family (wife and kids) who are here with me? Does the rule mean they would have to return to Nigeria? |
