His statement did not cause any chaos. It is the wickedness in the hearts of petrol marketers that is causing the hardship. Generally Nigerians are wicked and will exploit any opportunity for substantial gains.

Why didn't he wait until that June to make such statement?

That would have been a few weeks, if not hours, for Dangote's Refinery to start refining and distributing, thereby making fuel readily available in the country.

But of course, he mainly wants the GCFR tittle. As such, he doesn't really care about the consequences of what he says or does.

So if fuel subsidy ends by June, will d present high price of fuel stop or continue?

He was merely communicating the status quo, considering that the previous administration’s budget for fuel subsidy was planned and approved to last for only the first half of the year.

“Effectively, this means that by the end of June, the Federal Government will be without funds to continue the subsidy regime, translating to its termination
.

It’s like most obidients are daft and are lacking in comprehension.

Does it now mean dat by d end of June, d high price of fuel will continue or stop? Bcuz am confused

It means by June 31st, subsidy regime will end since Buhari only made provision for it in the national budget till end of that month.

Unless Tinubu forward a supplementary budget to the National Assembly for additional payment for subsidy, it means that’s the end of it.

Fuel subsidy was already removed months ago.

In the 2023 National budget, Subsidy provision ends this June. So there would be a need for a supplementary budget immediately if Subsidy is to extend beyond June. This supplementary budget will have to be presented by a new Executive Government and passed by a new National assembly which doesn't even have a senate leader yet.

Imagine the chaos at the end of June when everyone suddenly realises there's no subsidy for July. Pandemonium everywhere.

So you see, it's best Tinubu says it now so that everyone gets to know what is going on.

So if d subsidy ends in June, will d present high price of fuel stop or continue?

Ok. So if tinubu does not provide budget for d removal of fuel subsidy after June 31st, den it means d high price will still continue?
And If buhari made provision for it till d end of June 31st, den how come d sudden Hike in fuel price?

Confusion everywhere. Nigerians brace yourselves for tough days ahead because we are our own worst enemies. See the speed at which these hopeless marketers and filling stations began hoarding fuel. Before we blame the government, let us look inwards. Nigerians are terrible and greedy.

The problem now is will marketers and filling stations comply? Some are already selling as high as 500/L in Lagos.
They bought for June at the subsidized price but want to make excessive profit by artificially inflating prices. Black people with black heart grin

The blame is the filling station, not the speech, because we have already heard it that subsidy won't be available after June, it's because the man has prepared the speech that's y,he said so.. but not too late..A day is just off.. therefore filling station to sell, and even the president should planned on fuel and explained on how it can be affordable..

Manna quit the bloody sycophancy. It is nauseating, disgusting and irritating. We have had eight years of hardship no thanks to your darling Bubu but your hopeless allegiance to the oppressor has blinded you and your ilk to the fact. Now your new President made a very rash statement that has turned the country upsidedown and you are back again capping dust. Don't quote me again so I don't transfer aggression to you and your ancestors

You get time o cheesy. I've taken a mental note not to read anything from them ever. Don't know why se.un hasn't implemented a feature to block nuisances like those.

🗣️The sudden hike is due to greedy individuals trying to profit off of the inauguration speech. The end of fuel subsidy had been announced when the budget was released several months ago in January!!!!

The free market will decide. I am not one of your false prophets that will lie to you. I am only human, I can’t predict the future! The laws of supply and demand will take over, it’s simple economics. Something your third class philosophy graduate of a candidate knows nothing about.

If this u-turn story is accurate, spare a thought for his supporters who argued yesterday that the immediacy of the subsidy removal was unavoidable.

Now they have to spin the postponement as another evidence of Tinubu's earth-shattering sagacity and wisdom.

I pity his supporters.

Tinubu should be lectured on how to control his speech, this is indeed a damage control and I hope we see some good result

When you get to his advanced age, you won't even be able to remember what you said.

Lecturer the old man to control his speech is nothing but a big waste of time simply because he just cant.

Nigerians are their own problem. They just heard 'gone' and they created the PMS scarcity. Even, if the statement had taken effect now, for how could the hoarding last? Do we now say the thieving subsidy should continue?
