The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has rejected the new pump price of petrol fixed by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL).

Daily Trust reports that the oil firm has directed its outlets nationwide to sell fuel between N480 and N570 per litre.

Garba Deen Muhammad, Chief Corporate Communications Officer, NNPC Ltd, had said the price adjustment was made in line with “market realities”.

But NLC President, Comrade Joe Ajaero, who briefed journalists at Labour House, Abuja, on Wednesday, said the congress would not accept that.

He added that the fixing of price is not what government could do unilaterally.

If only the money gotten from subsidy removal will be used judiciously and not stolen, people will endure
it will be stolen or used to fund the luxurious lifestyle of POLITICANS... I'm sure of that...it's a shame Nigerians will be the ones to always pay the price of suffering

Let's face it, the NLC wanted their party to win. The leadership of the trade union endorsed the Labour Party during this year's general elections.

It is painful when groups try to stall genuine and pertinent economic plans because they're not in power. It is counterproductive to play politics when its time for governance. Tinubu himself and most members of the APC countered Jonathan when he started the process of removing fuel subsidy many years ago.

However, the NLC and its sister organisation, the Labour Party, will fail to stop the removal of fuel subsidy and will fail to win elections in 2027 😂

Your Buhari was minister of petroleum for 8 years, spent billons of naira on Ph. Warri and Kaduna refinery to produce zero petrol. APC has finished Nigeria.

Is it because of Buhari that NLC wants to sabotage Tinubus government? Or because of what Buhari did, governance should end.

Where was NLC during Fuel Scarcity?

Where were dey during the Naira Scarcity?

With the present set of politician headed by BAT nothing good will come out from the subsidy money than re-looting. Our institution gives room for looters to steal

Rubbish!
They should go sit their a rses down somewhere.
The fuel price increase is unjustifiable,ill-timed and insensitive, but any adult in Nigeria who has witnessed the series of fuel price increases and the attendant strike by the NLC right from the days of Oshiomhole, will know the strike has never achieved anything other than postponing the evil day.
Why?Everytime the NLC strikes forcing goverment to reduce the pump price, transport cost, cost of goods and services that were increased due to the original price increase, never go down to the status quo before the increase. So at the end the strike action and slight reduction in the increase don't achieve nothing.
Another reason why the strike is uncalled for is that with this astronomical increase, innovative ideas on how to manage fuel bought for vehicular and other uses will quickly crop up.
Alternative means of transport and ways of working, for eg,walking at home, online delivery of goods and services, will also crop up.
Even in the long run, maybe 6months or so,the pump price will also reduce to some extent, maybe 400.Though still high, but the number of fuel stations that will see a drastic reduction in fuel being bought, will also force marketers to find ways to attract customers and no one loves anything better than getting a service or product cheaper elsewhere.
Tinubu has done his worse,as expected of a senile, overly excited man,but let's show the well choreographed, never dying spirit of the Nigerian.
Anyone that isn't a thief, politician or criminal into kidnapping, rituals or Yahoo that survived 8 years of Buhari,I believe can survive whatever ill-conceived ideas Tinubu has.
NLC strike is uncalled for, unjustified and will only set back innovation, ideas and inventiveness the subsidy withdrawal will bring.
Someone is already seeking fuel economy ideas.
For eg,if u are used to running your gen throughout the night, you would need to reduce that.At work places, instead of using AC throughout office hours, fans may need to be used, same with AC running constantly in cars.

Are you not smart to know that all was politics? Did APC use NLC?Do you expect the opposition parties to support all government policies? NLC should not allow the loser party -LP to use them to fight the government. Let LP do the criticism themselves. That's the beauty of democracy instead of using NLC which may backfire.

So any filling station can fix whatever price they want to? Even if it's 1k per litre? You need mental evaluation
