I like the word "for now". The price quoted by NNPC is of course a hike if Bonny Crude is at 80 USD / barrel and their transaction rate is @N463 or there about. A litre's end price should be at #390 max, that is, after importation. Now, if Dangote refinery has not shared it's products to the market, we will keep watching ,. Coz I can't imagine hungry Nigerians now ignorantly paying subsidies for lavish expenditures of our executives. If price doesn't go down gradually after Dongote starts producing, then we have a more serious issue and we will tackle it aggressively. 1 Like |

You guys should sort out and straighten out all issues with the Presidency for the sake of peace and smooth transition of this long-overdue process of Subsidy Removal! Let's not repeat the stupid actions of the current Nigerian President, his predecessor, and their gang of hypocrites leading the nation right now... They are part of the forces that put the nation in this mess they are struggling to clean up! 1 Like |

The FG effect from January 2923 pays civil servants pervuliar Allowances. This is 40% of their monthly pay. The Labour union won't tell Nigerians this. This 40% pervuliar allowances is to assist civil servants due to the subsidy removal cope with transportation. Labour union cannot embark on strike as civil servants were all paid upto April 2023. It is the state civil servants that I cannot tell for sure if they are paid pervuliar allowances. The states governors must do everything to embrace this pervuliar allowances to assist their civil servants. |

Cloudflare: 23million Nigerians (over 99% of voters) voted for fuel subsidy removal. If you voted for PDP, APC, NNPP or LP, you voted for subsidy removal. They all had immediate subsidy removal in their manifestos. If you are complaining maybe you voted for a party that was lying about removing subsidy. 4 Likes |

SoNature:You guys talk about Palliatives, I don't understand the type of palliative you want them to give the people. You mean like the rubbish they gave the citizens during Lockdown era. Bread, Indomie, 1kg rice etc. What you should be talking about is increasing Minimum wage and giving private companies tax incentives on the condition of Increasing Employee Salaries. Giving grants to Small and Medium scale businesses to cushion the effect of the increased Pump price. 7 Likes |

SoNature:Many Nigerians are under an illusion that there is subsidy money So they keep talking of The money The money People do not get it Even if government wants to pay subsidy IT CANNOT It doesn't have the money It is owing Nearly 3 trillion so the only way for subsidy is to borrow. There is a limit to that Subsidy will stop and THE MONEY you are referring to does not exist There is no such money. It was budgeted till June 30 They could not find the money A long time ago we had room to stop it and divert the money That time has passed We are now at the point when the landlord has come to throw out property. AGAIN there is no money. Buhari has bankrupted the country 4 Likes |

How can any reasonable person support subsidy at this time. LABOUR should push for increment in minimum wages to at least 50k and that a win win. Remaining money should be diverted to power and making sure our refineries are working within a very short time. Subsidy must go… No pain no Gain 1 Like 1 Share |

There is no need for the NLC and TUC to go on strike on the issue of removal of fuel subsidy. I have always been in support of the removal of fuel subsidy as no serious government pumps billions of dollars into a wasteful project like fuel subsidy payment. Nigerians will adapt. As we all know , adaptation is the basic characteristics of human beings, alongside growth , reproduction, nutrition, etc.😎 We move ! 1 Like |

True ! A Peter Obi of the Labour Party would have removed fuel subsidy if he had been the one that was sworn in on May 29. Fuel subsidy removal was in Peter Obi and Ahmed-Datti's manifesto. casualobserver: 1 Like |

SoNature: You guys don't get it. NNPC cash flow cannot support subsidy payments. If a family cannot afford three square meals they go to 001 or 010 or something like that. They don't go and keep borrowing to eat three square meals because it will dig them into a deeper hole. If you force NNPC to cough out money from its reserves for instance, then it will can only buy less fuel than it used to = scarcity. What does scarcity mean? Black market prices. So Government will be spending money on subsidy and yet prices are still black market prices because it can't meet demand. We've been here before na. Private companies should shave their margins and provide verifiable palliatives which the government can offset with tax rebates. Those who work in government can be given palliative. Private sector especially organised private sector should sort themselves out 1 Like |
