Congrats man! But why didn't you go to Canada through study visa if at all going through express entry is not possible? Pathway to PR through Canada study visa seems easier and clear.

That 720k for 2 months rent is far cheaper compared to Canada. Housing is not smiling over there.
Congrats ๐ŸŽ‰

Getting student visa in Canada is not as straightforward as the UK. Many get denied. Plus you have to go for a two year course to make it easier to stay behind after study. It's not cheap.

Also, I hear it's extremely difficult to get any kind of job in Canada these days. People stay as long as 6 months without any job whatsoever

grin. I have been at home, meditating. Two ideas don drop already. ......they will never have dropped on me running around Lagos

Trying to find my way home, but it's not easy. The trip I am seeing is not just it. Surulere to berger 3500 and drivers are still rushing it. Best to just give space for now till things make sense. How can fuel jump from 184 to 488 and they won't even be a change in price from driver, even if will give excuse for app coy needing time to work on their app.

UK student route has a high success rate compared to Canada....I can easily migrate from the UK to Canada, than Nigeria to Canada....

If 200k salary is offered to all ehailing drivers today, 99.9% will QUIT! I have been on both SIDE...The type of energy expended..No driver on rental or HP will stay, anyone that will stay would probably owned his car and have other sources of income....Do you see how driver looks or appear physically, when you order a ride, they appear drained, tired, sorrowful!! Anytime I open my app, a driver is looking for bat3 to jumpstart, another one needs wheel spanner. Even my bro that owned few cars on the platform, always looks tired and drained...I spoke to him recently to take things easy and he said for him it's not about just driving alone but do you know the amount of energy he uses to PURSUE his driver for delivery, one wahala after another. Don't let anyone drive you to your death!!!
Add to that the stress created by corrupt and wicked law enforcement, traffic management, road safety and VIO officials .
It's draining

I know that the rejection rate is high but there are lots of testimonies on the study thread.
All you said are true but I would rather choose Canada over UK - that is me.

Student route

School fee (3000 pounds ) 1.8m (through formA)
Ihs and visa (me and wife) 2.2m
POF (proof of fund). 800k

Flight for 2. 640k
Rent for 2 month ( 800 pounds) 720k

Wife is working .....
I am schooling and working 20hrs in a week.

DIY from A-Z ....And I learnt all on Nairaland...UK student section.

Not all rosy at the beginning...but we are settling in and it's better than when we first came In.

Pls eeeeh that POF doesn't seem realistic

The last time I checked the average cost of of migrating to uk is 15Million-20Million

Cos am currently on the Japa process and UK is costing me #15M while Canada is costing me 10-11Million naira

That Canada own sef na one year course wey go give me one year work permit if I want 3years that is I got do two years masters or so and that would be double the money say above 20M for Canada. I still prefer UK cos with that one year Masters in UK I can get two years stay

Please Note: I be Engineering student other courses might be cheaper

Canada their unemployment rate is 5%
UK unemployment is 3.5%

See eeeh the only disadvantage of Uk is the inflation and tax

UK is even closer to Nigeria than Canada

I will jump on it if that 200k salary work isn't far from my resident and it's a Monday to Friday work (9am to 5pm)
If not, I can't sacrifice freedom of ehailing for the 200k job....

Ehailing might have its disadvantages but comparing 200k job to ehailing is a big slap on ehailing....

Hmmn dey play...the FREEDOM you have for how many years now, what have you achieved with it sir? Why freedom is good, you must show result, atleast quarterly...After driving for like 8 hours, what else would you use the freedom for, if not to sleep and REST!
U S president BIDEN was trending riding a bicycle at about 80 years old or thereabout days ago...I read a doctor's comment and he said " being able to do these at that age LARGELY DEPEND on how you used yourself NOW! How conscious are you about your health NOW! Nothing comes easy no doubt, but driving for too long, for many years is not a joke! More like the man that did 5k insurance, mocking those that did comprehensive as waste of money! Tell him to WAIT for that HIT!

All these Salary earners work for Nigeria na trash that's why I resigned. So I have a senior brother who works in one of the top Manufacturing multinational companies in Nigeria . He called earlier today and was crying bitterly . He's their Manufacturing Manager on a net salary of #1Million naira . He has just one kid and a wife. He was lamenting seriously on how much he used to fill his car recently . Omo he was just saying that money he's earning currently doesn't have value again. Some people were saying salary earners would start using their cars to do Uber part time to compliment earnings . How many Salary earners would do that . How many people are earning above 300k in Nigeria today. For him to attain this kind of salary the niqqur has worked for 12 years. Abeg if you are not earning anything above 500k monthly in Nigeria a Uber driver (driving his own car) is better than you Even A business person is better than you cos better business can bring more than that 500k return monthly

Salary work na trash

If they're discouraging you from driving, telling you about stress and your health bla bla but refuse to find you the nice paying jobs, or link you up to the nice jobs where there is no stress and where your health will be 100%, look them in the eye and tell them to fuck_off

Sorry for jumping in. But why Portugal?

They have something called D7 visa. You just need to prove that you have passive investments generating 760 euros a month. That's about 380k. US has something similar but you need 1 million dollars!

For student route, it's cheaper. No crazy POF that Canada and UK request for. No need selling the whole world just because you want to relocate.

They have a clear path to residency. After a two year masters program, they give two years temporary resident permit to get a job. Some are lucky to get three years. Now, here's the catch. You only need to stay 5 years to apply for permanent resident permit.

Portugal has the lowest cost of living in Western Europe. You don't have to use all your earnings to settle bills and there are no shortage of jobs.

The weather is very good and close to what you're used to in Naija unlike the crazy weather in Canada.

The only disadvantage is language but if anyone manages to pick it, it's easier to learn Spanish, French and many other languages.

My focus wasn't about the Guy Bro, you mentioned his case that's why I had to refer to him.

Bros you and I know the truth, most ehailing drivers with families responsibilites are merely surviving, I don't know if you're married and have kids sha.
I know it's easy for you but how many other drivers can? Go to their groups and see how they are lamenting and wailing up and down, it's only those in that telegram group that are doing well but according to one Bros here if you talk wetin dem no like they go remove you immediately
