That's the crazy thing about this Tinubu. He is already strategizing for 2027. No politician in the history of Nigeria plans ahead like this guy. He knows if he can have Rivers, Delta, and Oyo, then 2027 election will be a walkover.

My brother, u like politicians o, u dont like them o, it doesnt stop u from hearing the sound of generator sets in Nigeria every nights.

Like I always say, the average black man cares and worships his slave masters more than his own life.
I do laugh when people say that they are peppering Obi supporters, but na all of us dey suffer the fuel matter.
The point is if u are not among the political elites, u arent among the security staff elites, u arent super rich with some level of authority, u are simply a sufferhead.
I have seen on my fb lots of people who were doing pepper body, they are now lamenting just the way Obi supporters were lamenting.
These politicians no send u. Their kids are living ur dream life grin

Some of us just wanted a political system where anyone no mattter ur lack of connection can win. A politcal system that elections are purely out of manual collations and manipulations. Once we get that, we can begin to have a Nigeria with stable electricity at least.

I remember one guy who fought me so hard on social media. He is now lamenting heavily, I replied one of his posts on fb and reminded him that, u see, I am a software developer and I work for clients abroad from here, I earn in $$, I have full solar running in my flat, I dont use fuel at home, I only need fuel for my car and I work from home. This means that I simply drive out only when I want to have fun, chill and see em ladies. I said, unlike u, u are now suffering the fuel matter, the heat, the queue, etc.
At the end, I said, u see why some of us wanted a Nigeria where elections are won purely based on proper electoral system, not this one they were using pen and biro to add and subtract numbers, INEC staff intentionally not coming to their locations on time, results collated manually around mid night grin
No, we want an electoral system purely based electronical means where we can see live and instantly, a direct candidate participation to elimiate dirty political primaries, etc. If Nigeria works where we all have electricity without solar or generator, we all go enjoy am.
He lamented of long fuel queue. I said this is how every negative policies affects the common man, if u have no strong resources or u earn poorly in naira, u are finished. He became humble.
So, no matter who u mock, I hope u are among the ruling class, or ruling elites or very rich. Make e no be sey na small small change u dey see o

CBN devalued naira from 461.6 to 631... meaning one dollar equals 631.

I will give you the simplest example that even those with fish brains can understand.

It is already a known fact that nigeria imports more than 70% of what she consumes.

Imagine an importer who imports 100 units of an item for 10,000 dollars. That means the importer pays 4,616,000 naira (461.6*10,000=4,616,000) for 100 units of that item.

With devaluation of the naira to 631, that same importer will pay 6,310,000 (631*10,000=6,310,000) to import the same 100 units of that item.

And you expect the importer to sell at the old price ?

The bottom line is that the importer will pay more naira for a dollar, and the final consumer will pay more naira to purchase that item from the importer. Don't forget that salaries still remain the same, even the so-called minimum wage cannot full my fuel thank.

These are some of the items nigeria imports:

Steel

Textile

Plastics

Cereal

Glass

Metal

Fertilizer

Cotton

Silk

Cork

Sugar

Wheat

Woven fabric

Motorcycle

Copper

Electronics

Nickel

Petroleum

Iron

Some of you have been blinded by religion, ethnicity and tribe so I don't expect my analysis to make sense to your already dead sentimental brain

I've also come to realize that apart from been blinded by religion and ethnicity, majority of them are actually 'children.'

Immediately we take away power from those ruling class, we have solved lot of our political problems. The current system simply means, loot enough money, use the money to buy power back. This doesnt fix anything. But if we had sent a strong message by pushing away the strong ruling class, even Obi would be scared to mess up because he knows that he would be thrown out by the same people who elected him.

If we must get Nigeria to work, we must fix our electoral system so that those manual collation of results would stop, people wont need to bribe their ways to power, na that time u go see magic.
Europe got fixed becus the people of Europe dont take nonsense from their ruling class and the ruling class knows that a mess up, they would be sent out of office. The true democracy starts when the policians start to be scared of the masses.

Your analysis is perfect but it fell short of something.
That official rate is an imaginary rate that is only available for a very few elites.

Most importers currently buy dollars at more than 700 naira.

If the CBN allows the Naira to float, it means importer's have no need to go and buy forex in black market because CBN wouldn't be selling at official rates to elites who then will sell to the black market.

Also it will encourage private players to bring in their dollars and officially change in bank as they would make money

Devaluing the naira will only TEMPORARILY make more dollars available because it's a good deal to sell dollar to CBN for 630 (something u bought for 470)
it doesn't make sense still and wouldn't make dollar available to cbn. Who would sell to cbn when you can sell to the black market at a better rate? Besides, what positive impact would it have on our economy?

at your first point, the black market wouldn't have been an option to importers in the first place if the dollars were available at cbn. To your other point, even with the devaluation, black market still trades at a higher rate in exchange for naira. I really do not see how this would make private players release their dols to cbn. In anyway you want to analyze it, it is catastrophic to the economy
