Don’t be deceived , the government knows those doing the subsidy scam, they just won’t go for them.

Otedola was fingered in the subsidy scam probe in 2012 which involved Farouk Lawan. Today Otedola is one of those advising government on proliferation of of oil marketers with briefcase companies.

The bold is whose fault ? Is it the common man’s or government officials’/agencies’?

It is a Nigerian story na. Too many industries are not properly regulated. That's why you have people bottling water from public taps or putting road worthless trailers on the road. It is why we have stations whose tanks start leaking in 3 years. Dpr cannot or will not enforce because so many people in dpr also build stations

So if the government and her agencies have failed in properly regulating subsidy that has been in existence since 70’s when people were not as poor as this, the poor man should go and die in the process of punishing the elite eating the subsidy funds ? 🤷🏼‍♂️

I was referring to the professors solutions. They already exist and several major marketers adopt some form of them. As it is every major marketer can tell you their weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual sales/volumes. This is simply good business practice as you want to identify your most profitable sites or locations, sites with potential, and sites that should be let go. It is also by records and audits you identify losses leakages and fraud.

But adopting these systems in a market where there is little or no regulation is counterintuitive.

Your independent marketers will not invest in these systems

As to your other statement - The unfortunate reality is that we cannot continue then subsidy. We are at the end of the road. No where to kick the can again.

If government makes it a pre-requisite for marketers go invest in the technology , trust me
they would.

See all these things boarders on governments’ willpower to enforce because most of the people involved are cronies of government officials .

The government can repeat the mantra 24/7 , 365 days a year that subsidy favors some few rich men while the the masses suffer …. But we all know going after the subsidy scammers has never been any government’s focus .

We also know that when subsidy is finally removed , the masses who have always suffered will suffer more in the short and long run.

the real problem - imho is that there is no real incerity and everyiones hands is in it

i am sure you can remember farouk lawan, who made a real show of subsidy investigations, only to be collecting dollars from otedola . the whole exercise was just a shakedown and nothing more.

U see ehn, Currently I feel the same way most of the people who protested against subsidy removal in 2012 felt.

I feel the insincerity of government and its agencies in all of this. I feel the same way Tunde Bakare, Femi Falana, late Tunji Braithwaite , Femi kuti, Late Yinka Odumakin, Late Muhammed Fawehinmi and others felt that made them say no. A government telling us removing subsidy is the only way we will survive and experience economic prosperity as a nation is to let go of the only thing that still keeps the common man going. Yet nobody wants to talk about bogus government spending's that have no impact on citizen's lifestyle .

I support the labour congresses bringing the government to its knees and have serious trade-offs brought to the fore at the negotiation table;having the respective arms of government give up something to show we are all in this together

BAD NEWS; Earlier today, I was drafted to assist in the negotiations with my brothers and comrades in the NLC and TUC and to the glory of God, we reached some agreements which have resulted in the suspension of the proposed strike action. We have just ended the meeting at exactly 10:40pm. Here’s a copy of the agreement and some light-hearted moment after signing the agreement.

The way una dey spin news here dey funny.

What El Rufai said was about Kaduna State and has nothing to do with Tinubu picking a muslim as his vice.

In the run up to 2019 election, El Rufai ditched his Christian deputy claiming Southern Kaduna were never going to vote for him irrespective of what he does for them. El Rufai ran a Muslim Muslim ticket in 2019 and won, in the last election, It was another muslim muslim ticket with the same deputy as 2019 and still won.

Obviously El rufai was feeling cooky as Muslim muslim ticket has won back to back election in Kaduna.

How you guys translate that to Tinubu is what I'm still trying to understand.

NB: I dont agree with the rubbish El rufai spilled at the Southern Kaduna folks

I mean even in the video, he clearly said when Sani Uba finish the first 4 years and go for another 4 years, then another one comes in after him before they know it, its 20yrs.

El Rufai already did 4yrs on a muslim muslim ticket
Sani Uba is doing his first 4yrs on a muslim muslim ticket, if he get reelected, that's 12yrs straight with a muslim - muslim ticket ruling Kaduna.

Just look at how they try to make it look as if El rufai was talking about the Presidential election.

We will see a lot of it here...Guys who you think should know better will attempt to twist every narrative just because of politics. The shameful thing here is that if Obi was president, it will bea role reversal. No patriotism from Nigerians at all...

Abeg let's not forget our respective governors, we can't be solely focused on the FG whilst forgetting our respective governors. Hold them on account of their campaign promises.

As you analyse the every move of Tinubu, remember to do same for your stategovernors. Let's expand the focus.

I was disappointed in some guys that tackled me on it earlier.

Till now, none has come up with a different translation to Monerozi's. They will rather ask us to trust a politician, than to look for a responsible Hausa person to help out with translation. 😊

"The key to the success of fuel subsidy removal is the behavioural changes it will lead to.

After adjusting your behaviour, even though the price of petrol has increased, you may end up spending less on petrol and transportation than what you used to spend.

If you can do that, then it means the government has been subsidising unnecessary consumption of petrol.

Many people will park their cars at home and use buses, bikes, and their legs instead.

Many people will apply for jobs closer to where they live, even if they pay a little bit less.

Many parents will choose schools closer to where they live or work, or boarding schools, for their kids.

Many working youths will pool their funds to rent flats closer to where they work.

Many people will stop driving from Lagos to Canaanland in Ota every Sunday for service.

Such behavioural changes will reduce overall fuel consumption and also decongest our roads, possibly increasing productivity because people will spend less time stuck in traffic.

What behavioural changes are you planning to make?" — Seun via Twitter.

I agree with Seun on the points raised in that submission. I already got a solar inverter. With this and my fuel-efficient generator, I've drastically cut down on my fuel consumption as a remote worker.

The 40 liters of petrol I bought on the inauguration day last week at the old price will last about 20 days.

E still dey do me one kind when I'll have to shell out 10k to get less than 20 liters of fuel. Na to continue to devise ways to reduce my fuel consumption drastically.

Getting another laptop might help.

By the way , the people doing remote working are not even up to 5% of the entire working population.
