Let's not compare cooking gas and petrol abeg. Cooking gas has several alternatives such that before it became popular, it wasn't an essential commodity. If cooking gas supply stops today, life will still go on, though it may be difficult to return to the old cooking 'fuels'. Now petrol! Petrol practically has no alternative, as it drives up to 95% commuter vehicles in Nigeria. How many diesel cars/buses, eV's do we have in Nigeria. Also our rail system isn't functional. Maybe improved planning to reduce frequency of traveling would reduce consumption, but not significantly. Finally the presence of union isn't good for buyers. In cities like Ibadan, trecking is not even an option, if you try am , your body go hear am. Therefore the demand/supply plot for petrol would almost be a flat line. |
