.....they should at least allow him to enjoy his meatpie and fanta first, then make a call to his mom; possibly to hint her it has eventually happened.

What happened there is unconstitutional on so many grounds and no agreement or contract trumps the constitutional human right of a citizen… That’s in a sane country.

There is a reason, the government I think put out a legislation banning these guys from sending messages ladened with threats. There is an established system for creditors to collect loan and this isn’t one of them.

....yes, its unconstitutional but I believe they have done their homework well before doing it. This is not the first time I am seeing a clip like that, even thought they were skits.

Home work or assignment is irrelevant to the constitution and just because it happens doesn't legitimatize the action . Many companies run rogue in Nigeria because the citizens don't know the law or lack the resources to pursue their right. A company can define its rules, policies and procedures but if it contravenes with the constitution, it becomes irrelevant.

Easily, what happened there is harassment, unconstitutional arrest, unconstitutional detainment, they restricted his right of movement, kidnap by unknown/ unidentified agents. Where did they take the guy to? Are they empowered by the constitution of the country to make such arrests, even the Nigerian Police came under heavy fire when plain officers visited Portable...

Palmpay should thank their stars they are operating in Nigeria. The Labor law sets aside procedures for creditors to collect loan and this isn't one of them.

The thing dey happen. I have some cousins that went to the UK when they were kids leaving the 1st born who was overage in Naija.

The boy in the UK is now in the financial sector and is always travelling on brief vacations to Prague, Greece, Spain etc while the one that was left in Naija is still on the hustling life. He is not suffering but the difference is clear like 7up.

I know several families where the difference between Japa and stay at home is like night and day. Often the ones who stayed home did it by choice because their families were very OK.

I laughed the other day when I saw two of my childhood friends who both lived on the same Estate chatting on Linkedin about settlements between their companies. One was asking the other to review some rebates due to his company. He is a Vice President and the other is a Global Head of Logistics, both in multinationals. In my mind I was laughing that any Oyinbo viewing this conversation will not know that these niggas are Rumuibekwe boys who have known each other for 30 plus years.

Then I remembered both their brothers back home and the difference in condition. Even though their brothers are not struggling, mehn the difference is clear.

A skit sponsored by Palmpay?

Those guys wore verified Palmpay clothing. Why would Palmpay want to be involved in such dangerous adventure against it's brand?

I doubt this is a skit..If it is a skit, then Palmpay have every right to sue everyone involved in the skit.

Life is sometimes like an expressway with traffic lights. 2 guys will be driving almost next to each other and one of them will beat red light but the red light will catch the other one. That single instant can make a lifetime of difference.

There's no metric you'll use that will put Nigeria among the poorest countries in Africa. No metrics.

With its relatively high GDP and being the largest economy in Africa, Nigeria is neither rich nor poor. It's more correctly called a middle-income country.

If Africa is the poorest continent
And Nigeria is mid in Africa then where does that put us?

E.g if you say in leagues in Europe, Cyprus has the poorest now you are talking about a midtable team in Cyprus. So where will that country rank when considering all leagues in Europe?

The World Bank reports I posted earlier already settled the argument, bro. You don't argue with facts. Do you?

The world's poor or low-income countries and middle-income countries are clearly listed on the World Bank websites. No need for unnecessary back-and-forth or amalonomics on a clear issue.

Na Wikipedia go kill an argument? How low will Nairaland's arguments get? Lols.

The World Bank, one of the key authorities on the subject, no kill argument but na common Wikipedia.

You only use Wikipedia among people of low education levels. Or you quote common Wikipedia in your company's report?

You'll be surprised what palmpay has carefully hidden in fine print.

Something along the lines of "You are waiving your rights to institute legal action against palmpay or any of its associates."

I just wonder what they will do after arresting him. I don't think there's any law that prescribes jail term for a debtor.

Debt collection is a civil matter, not criminal. Legally, even the Nigerian Police have no right to be involved in loan agreement issue between 2 parties because it is a civil matter that is adjudicated primarily by the court. The problem is, Nigerians don't know the law and how to protect their rights.

There is a process for loan collection as established by the law. There are due diligent steps that must be taken by creditors to recover their loan even before they approach the court. Palmpay infringed on a lot of that guy's rights with their unconstitutional actions. Also, no written agreement overrides a citizens constitutional human rights, absolutely none, it is universally accepted! This is why I say many Nigerian companies are taking advantage of people/ workers with ridiculous actions.

If this was the US, lawyers for don dey blow up this guy phone with calls and texts because this is an easy case!
