Lagos belongs to Yorubas; lawmakers will pass new property, business ownership laws favouring only indigenes: Speaker Obasa https://247ureports.com/2023/06/lagos-belongs-to-yorubas-lawmakers-will-pass-new-property-business-ownership-laws-favouring-only-indigenes-speaker-obasa/ - There are plans underway by the Lagos State House of Assembly to make promulgation that will potentially undermine land and property ownership by non-indigenes, especially Igbos in the state, following a declaration by its speaker Mudashiru Obasa to “reverse all the reversible.” Enterprising and industrious, the Igbos, originally from South-East Nigeria, were targets of several vicious verbal and physical attacks by Yoruba politicians and their acolytes. In the last presidential and governorship elections, many Igbos had thrown their weight behind the Labour Party and its poster boy and presidential candidate, Peter Obi. They were blamed for APC and then-candidate Bola Tinubu’s loss in Lagos on February 25. “Lagos is a Yoruba land as against the assertions of some people that it is a no man’s land,” Mr Obasa declared. “Therefore, part of our legislative agenda is to ensure the translation of laws passed by this House to the Yoruba language.” 1 Like |

Afonjanawerey: Lagos will be a future case study of what happens when the government impedes free flow of investment in an economy . Notice that Lagos grew most from 1970 till date and much of the growth came from non indigenes and non yorubas. A recent check on the most profitable companies in Lagos shows that access bank and zenith bank pays more tax than all the first bank. Gtb, fcmb and other banks owned by yorubas . About 3 million business owners, working class igbos , schooling, doing business and working in Lagos contribute nothing less than 60b monthly to Lagos economy vis income tax, expenses and banking transactions etc. A yorubanised Lagos is a dead Lagos 4 Likes 2 Shares |

I love Yorouba leaders, they know how to feed their peoples tribal soul while they go in the back and do their normal bidding. I know many yoroubas who would celebrate at this news but will fail to understand Lagos has made such laws over and over and yet every election they come with their soup chant " Azikiwe said: Lagos is no mans Land" then repeat same headline; " we are making laws to make Lagos a Yoruba property" Check out of last election Obasa said the same thing, even added schools will start singing Anthem in Yorouba. How has that ended ? 1 Like 1 Share |

anungangampu:Those laws are in place and working.Your singsong is always about land and properties. They will now be leased out only for 10,20,30 years and not sold as it is done by some SS states as I heard. If a land is leased to you for #50m for 20 or 30 years,a kind of caveat will be added because of your leaking mouth...kikikikikikikikiki. Nobody loses na. |
Re: Lagos Belongs To Yorubas; Lawmakers Will Pass New Property, Business Ownership L by anungangampu: 2:34pm On Jun 08, 2023 |
Ofemannnu:Who would be crazy enough to buy a property that it's lease won't last 50yrs or buy a property knowing it would be claimed not minding he is a citizen of the country? Omo! Una tribal brain can assume alot. Some of you are even thinking you are doing anyone favours selling lands to them. Hope you know igbos hate their fellows for buying anything in Lagos and this started this election and gradually growing little by little. The Land use, Lawma, Borehole and parking laws made by Ambode, how has that affected an average igbo man? Any law Lagos will make tomorrow will end up in Everyone paying more and more money and getting tasked more and more. It doesn't change anything. |

anungangampu:If you cant buy then you rent or better still be an onlooker while those people who need them pay to get them.If you come to Ojota-Ogudu axis,it is already been done but not obligated by law.Now everybody will begin to abide by the law. 1 Like |

anungangampu:Your main singsong is what they are dealing with and it is just to make you good Lagosians. Your song can now be that you rent the land or property for 20,30 even 40 years and no more 99 years. Some states are doing it na. |
Re: Lagos Belongs To Yorubas; Lawmakers Will Pass New Property, Business Ownership L by talk2hb1(m): 2:48pm On Jun 08, 2023 |
I am very sure thé law Will look into land ownership which might include no total ownership of land bought from indigens. So we will be paying royalties on land maybe annually or every decades, back to 16th century where feudalism reigns. 1 Like 1 Share |

goodnessme1:You don't know anything about lagos. Lagos belongs to ijebu, awori, eko people and egun people. These are the different ethnic natives. The law is just to put we indigene first like other state. Disregard sensational headlines, up till now many lagosians don't benefit anything from our homeland. We struggle like we came from elsewhere. Every state wants to be developer for her natives to benefit from, but Lagos developed and we aint benefiting much lol. cc: bigsarah |

tollyboy5: All those tribes you mentioned are Yoruba tribes, so by extension, Lagos belongs to Yoruba people plain and simple Just like Anambra and Enugu belongs to Igbo people without contest from other tribes. |

If proven true, this will be the BEST NEWS -by far - for the economies of Igbo cities, and will even go far to prove that Nigeria is a farce. They have been speaking in all manner of tongues for decades since the end of the civil war, and managed to deceive MANY Igbos into dumping massive investments ( MONEY really) into their region. Now they are gradually coming out of the wood works to do what they've always wanted to do. This will pull one more block down the farce of one nationhood. Even the constitution has already been thoroughly trashed and set aside by a rogue INEC. This is the type of a fight I love, honestly. When all is said and done, each nation will pursue its SEPARATE destiny NATURALLY and ORGANICALLY without the usual lies and deceit. |
