What can $5,000 buy in Nigeria?
As at the time of writing this, a dollar is equivalent to #760 in the black market.

That means $5000 will be exchanged for 3.8million naira.

The following are what you could get for that kind of money.

1. A 5 or 4 years degree in a public university. Mine cost about 1.5million naira, upkeep and rent inclusive. And I got #15,000 reimbursement from the government as payment for industrial training.

2. A Car. Maybe not the best of the best. But you would get a fairly used Nigerian car for something within that range. I bought a Toyota Matrix 2005 for 1.950million in 2016.

3. A piece of Land. Depending on your preferred state. You would get a decent two plot of land with that amount. You might need extra to cater for legal documents though.

4. You could get married with that amount. People get married on lesser budget.

5. Start a business. Depending on your scale.

6. Rent a house. In Ibadan, you can rent a complete modern house with that amount, for a year.

7. Flex. You would be recognized as the man of the night in any popular club in Nigeria after spending about a million naira.

8. Give to charity. You would make the news if you give that much to the orphanage in a small town.

9. I can't think of more stuff right now, but I prefer odd numbers, hence number 9.
