I didn't really get to know my dad so well early enough because he was always away on job transfer so I grew up knowing my mom and siblings. And when my dad finally retired he was home but we didn't want to know him again because we were older... He almost missed out on our childhood. But when I got admission, went to school and came back for holiday I decided to know this man called my dad intimately. With my newly acquired communication skill, i engaged him in a discussion and he was happy to finally have a connection with 1 of his child. After the discussion that night as I was about to leave he called me and told me "thank you".... cry cry
I almost cried that night. Since then he made sure he supported me emotionally, financially and spiritually and before he died he was crying that everyone would abandon me after his death and hell yes they did. Whenever I think of his sacrifices I'm always moved to tears.... Rest in peace Dad.

About some years ago, I tripped and feel in the bathroom and didn't tell anyone till I began to feel this pain in my ribs, and was taken to the hospital, I was xrayed and it was discovered that mucus(or so, I've forgotten what they called it at the hospital) had developed there, turns out the fall caused an internal injury and because I didn't speak up earlier it escalated...
I had to spend about 4 days or so in the hospital. My dad would close from work, go home, pick up food and bring back for me at the hospital(it was about 2/½ hours from the house) then go back home that same night and still go to work the next morning,...
There was this particular night he got back home late due to traffic, and they'd already locked the gate, think it was already past 1:am.
My dad knocked and knocked, no one came to open the gate for him, manzz had to lay down on the bare floor outside the gate and slept, until the community security came to wake him at almost dawn, they thought he was drunk or something...

I'll never forget that singular event.
God bless that man for me❤

I remember two incidents.

sometime in 2008 during the Forex rave. I told my Dad I wanted to go to Ibadan for a Forex training. He instructed me not to travel. As stubborn pikin way i be, I didnt go, but i left the house all day as if i went, Came back home late at night, and by 6am the following day, left for school in Ogun state.

Two weeks later, my Dad called me that he knows I didnt go, that he has paid for a forex training in lagos, i should come back

Omo boi enter Lagos na, FX trader loading!!!!!!

After the training, i was feeling like Jet Li of Forex. I went to borrow money. Almost 200 thousand, my friends saw me as the next billionaire, so they didnt mind to borrow me money to trade.

I lost the entire funds in 2 trades, mumu pikin, mumu trader

Oya na, where i go see 200k pay gbese.

When the thing choke, i go house go tell my papa. Sir, cultists want to kee your son oh, biko, bail me. My Dad gave me the money. And off course, stubborn shild way i be, i add on top. Use the extra lick bottle.

God bless the man for me.

Second incident

My dad worked for a multinational, so we got to use one of the best hospitals based on his employment. We were using st nicholas at the time. Shortly after he resigned, I had some health challenges. Na in we go hospital, off course, this time we would have to pay. When den bill my mum almost 500k for tests, i am talking about 2004/2005. Me sef know say na to go prepare for last supper.

My mum called my dad and i could hear the conversation, my dad said, no matter the cost, let them treat him, i will pay

Stubborn shild just de there de smile, so this man like me, and e go de pretend, con use belt flog my bombom well

God bless my parents. I hope and pray God blesses me so much i can give them the best

keep your advice
Do you think I smoke for fun ?
I smoke marijuana (loud) to reduce stress and anxiety which is more healthy than the sugar you take in daily

When I gained admission into one of the top secondary schools in Lagos, my dad deferred his MSc program to pay my school fees.
Till today, every single time I have to leave home before 06:30am, my dad will hold my hands, pray for me all the way to the bus stop, screen every vehicle and ensure that I board a good one and still give me tfare. My dad recharges my phone randomly even though he is just a pensioner. Last year, I took the risk of leaving a job that was beginning to take a toll on my physical and mental health, my dad understood and fully backed me up. He also supported me throughout the period I was jobless. Fathers are irreplaceable Fr🥹. I hope my daughters get to enjoy a father like mine.

When I was working in one school like that and had to stay in the staff quarters, my mum suddenly appeared in front of my apartment one day because I hadn’t visited home in a few weeks. We used to talk over the phone but I’m not sure they believed I was fine. This was my father’s plan too.

May God bless me enough to give my parents premium enjoyment in their lifetime.

I've never been loved because I don't know what love means at all. I was a posthumous child. Lost my dad when my mum was pregnant. Shortly after birth, I lost my mum. I have no siblings. I lived with relatives who maltreated me so much that I thought they even had issues with my late parents cos I have never seen such dehumanizing treatment before except only in movies. Up till now, I hate people due to the psychological impact of the maltreatment I got from the people I lived with. I like been alone most times because I trust nobody, I can't confide in people because I feel nobody got my back. I was so determined to at least get education for myself and today I am glad I did. However I am still struggling

You will be loved by your in-laws, wife, children and grandchildren, Inshallah !!

After my NYSC I escorted my Dad with my credentials to his friend office who is a big man in Nigeria immigration service. With the fact that they were very close friends, my Dad kneel down in my presence and beg this man to give me appointment when the opportunity arises. I was very ashamed of myself when I saw my Dad on his knees, at the end the man failed him

I will never forget this for the rest of my life, by God Grace I will make sure I stand by my Dad always and forever
please do everything within your power to make that man proud.

My papa used to stack coins into of his study table in his private room, he forbade other siblings from entering that room, I was the only one allowed inside that room

Even other wives no Dey enter there😂😂

That man spoiled me silly, I was living large as an under 10 year old boy, he buys the biggest bread for me to drink tea every morning before I go school, I had access to his coin in his room, he was a teacher in my primary school, so food vendors dey package my food separately when ever they serve him, he made sure I was more than comfortable and well fed, my other siblings nearly behead me for these reasons

Unfortunately I lost him when I was 10, then my nom took over

Even till this moment she still Dey package garri and beans for me 😂😂😂

This was favouritism. Imagine being one of your siblings. Yuck
