there is a 9ja person who charges 3k for one of those courses 😅. I warned my friend he didn’t listen o. The consensus from majority of those in the class was that it wasn’t worth it , many went on to enrol in actual schools and colleges . My friend continued with his current PM job and has not been able to change jobs like the tutor advertised . But the tutor still used him as part of success stories without informing him, he saw his pic on a linkedin advert.🤣🤣🤣

I mean, how can you collect 3k for course that does not come with recognized national certification?? How much is B.A or PM certification sef? it's outrageous!

What Indians do is, one person will bring his brother and on code teach him sharply while on the job. Before 2 weeks, a completely new clueless person will start shouting about like a manager

Thanks for this insight. I wanted to be sure before I coughed out their 50K fee. Can't afford to waste money. And one more question, please. Do you know if it has validity period like that of police character certificate? If so, I may schedule the application close to my travel time.

50k That is a lot. Getting it from the High Commission is only $50

Is there any dating sites for Nigerians in Canada?

How does someone find in-person community of Nigerians around here?

I'm in Oshawa and it's mostly white and indian girls with a handful of Nigerian girls.

I don tire lol.

research on google. Many people here or those migrating from Nigeria are not into that field. My friend who teaches complained about staff shortage in their school in Toronto

Unfortunately it's becoming annoying. Almost everyone in IT with little experience these days is looking for who to teach and make money of them. Giving people false hope of getting jobs after parting with their hard earned money.

Someone I know in the field contacted me early this year asking if I could join hands and set up this tutor business, I declined. My conscience will not allow me, it is a rip off.

Hello All,

Does anyone have any experience with kids in a Catholic School, preferably in Ontario? Also can you get Catholic schools that offer French immersion? Our kids speak French and we do not want them to lose the language.

Looking to rent in the Durham Region. I have received some not too good reviews about Oshawa. Any info on neighboring towns in the region would be appreciated- Whitby, Ajax, etc.

Regards.

I know an old school friend who teaches. He is based in Ontario. Need to call him to find out his area of specialisation and the age range of the kids he teaches. Also, how he got the job and what someone needs to do to get certified.

I have a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE)

So, I asked because it is important for me to ensure that I have the whole picture - first degree and experience is really important when it comes to getting a teaching license. I will share our experience.

So we were in BC for a couple of years, Babe has a B. Tech in Mathematics from Lauthec + M. Ed from UVic and lots of teaching experience from Nigeria. BC granted a restricted teaching license - you can teach in non-public schools only. If you get an employment in a non public school with this license and teach for 2 years, you will get a non-restricted teaching license - you can teach in any school in BC only. If you have a non-B.Ed. and teaching experience from your home country, there is a bridging program at UVic that you can do to get licensed.

Provincial governments have exclusive responsibility for all levels of education in Canada. Basically, it is their prerogative to set educational policy as federal ministry of education does not exist. You will need to research the province of your choice and get info from the provincial professional teachers board and their local University(ies) offering education programs.

That is why in Saskatchewan, the professional teachers regulatory board did not issue restricted teaching license. They really did not care about the M.Ed. So they assess your credentials (WES) and then tell you all the courses that you need to do (to get a B.Ed and get an unrestricted teaching license that can be tendered anywhere in the country),you use this to apply for a bridging program at the local University - USask, which gives admission preference to mature applicants (applicants with prior tertiary education and teaching experience).

Please note that these info is at least 2 years old. Feel free to contact the provincial professional teachers board and the teacher education program administrators in each Uni

I hope this 'turenshi' will be helpful. Cheers.

Each province will have its own criteria for qualification. You could channel your research into how easily you can get licensed. Cost implications too.

The truth is that you don't have to be an "IT expert" to teach people. As long as you have a job somewhere and you are favourably discharging your duties, you can bring anyone up to speed to your level. It doesn't need you to be a guru. Bottomline, what most people do at work is the most basic things that can be easily taught. The most important thing is for the student who is looking for a teacher to rightly assess the teacher's qualifications and/or previous students to see if that teacher is the right fit for them before committing to a session.

If anyone is waiting for an "IT expert" to teach them, then they should be ready to pay through their nose. The average IT expert's time is worth at least $80 per hour. Not many people (outside of organizations) can pay that. In addition, most won't even find delight in teaching beginner/intermediate stuff. You are better off going to public MOOCs to learn or meet the average Joe who is working 9-5 somewhere, but has a passion to impart knowledge.

I am not sure what kind of 'help' you mean but if it is to somehow speed up the process, I am not sure you will find any. If you are not traveling soon or if you won't be needing the passport anytime soon then you have to make do with what is available. I live in Winnipeg with my family friends and they all had to go to Ottawa to renew. The booked online and picked a date then traveled for capturing came back and waited for it to be mailed back. I am not sure there is any expedited process.
