Goodday house
For someone who had his wedding officially here in naija and the wife is back to the US, what category of visa can the wife file for him(fastest route), since it appears that the K-1 is for the unmarried that intends to get married...

Your wife (US Citizen) should file a petition for you to migrate to the US as CR1. In this case, the petition is filling Form I-130 (Petition for Alien Relative). If you need help on how to and the process, check out visajourney (google it). When the petition is approved, your case will be transferred to NVC (National Visa Center) for further processing and you will be contacted to start your immigration visa application to be interviewed at your country of residence's consulate office. The entire process could take 12 to 20 months (or longer). The earlier you start the better, this is your fastest and only option per your status (spouse of a US citizen). Good luck!

Hello everyone

Good to be here. Please let's keep this thread alive.

I will be arriving the US in a couple of months. I will be working in the dayton area, Ohio. Anybody in Ohio I can connect with? I want to ask things around getting an apartment, getting schools and daycare for my kids, getting a car and furniture, Nigerian churches around, African stores around. Just hacks around those things too. Things to look out for, resources available that I should take opportunity of. I am open to suggestions from people outside Ohio too. Thanks everyone.

If you will take my candid opinion, tell your spouse to return to Nigeria, for you all to apply and go for the Visa interview together.

North Carolina will be better. They should settle in either Winston-Salem or Raleigh... Raleigh will be better.

But if you want a cool and saner environment, I recommend Vermont, Rhode Island, and Connecticut.

Please how is life in Rhode Island like? I will be moving as a PhD student to Rhode Island for the Fall 2023 semester. This is the first time I am seeing Rhode Island been mentioned on this thread.

Rhode Island is a nice state to live in, that's why my aunty lives... I've spent a couple of weeks there.

It's a small state actually, social life on the low, but I think you will love it if you're someone that ooves sane environment.

All the best in your studies.
