To apply for a U.S. Fiance(e) Visa, also known as K-1 visa, there is a specific process you must go through. Here are the general steps involved:

1. Satisfy Eligibility Requirements: As petitioner and partner in this marriage petition process, both you and your fiance(e) must fulfill certain eligibility requirements in order to legally marry each other within 90 days of entry into the US by your partner and having met each other within two years.

2. File a Petition:
As the U.S. citizen petitioner, you need to file Form I-129F with United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) with evidence of your relationship such as photographs, communications logs and any other supporting documents required.

3. USCIS Processing: After you submit the petition, USCIS will review it to assess if it meets eligibility requirements and, if approved, send it onward to an appropriate U.S. embassy or consulate located in their home country.

4. Notification from Embassy/Consulate: Once your petition arrives at an embassy or consulate, they will notify both yourself and your partner and provide instructions for further processing as well as schedule an interview appointment.

5. Attend the Interview: Your fiance(e) must attend an interview at their country's U.S. embassy or consulate with all required documents such as their DS-160 confirmation page, passport, police certificates, medical examination results and proof of your relationship.

6. Visa Application and Grant:
Once the consular officer approves your fiance(e), she/he will receive the K-1 visa that allows them to travel to the US.

7. Travel to the US: Once they receive their K-1 visa, your fiance(e) may travel to the US within 90 days of entering. Once there, marriage must occur within this timeframe.

8. Adjustment of Status: Following marriage, your fiance(e) can apply for Adjustment of Status to become lawful permanent resident (green card holder) of the United States.

Please be aware that the exact steps may differ slightly based on individual circumstances and changes to immigration regulations, so for the latest and most up-to-date advice it is advisable to visit the official USCIS website or seek professional legal advice for more accurate advice.

Hello House, if my Us fiance wants to file for K1, do I need birth certificate (NPC) now? Or till during the K1interview? We got introduced by a relative first week in December last year..we already met physically in a neighbouring country.making the relationship 6months plus..is it too early to file for K1? Considering the duration of the process we both agreed to start the process early. We also plan to see by December this year to mark 1 year Anniversary...is there any reason to be worried?

1. Your (beneficiary) birth certificate or NPC is not necessary when you file until interview stage, but the OP should include his/hers
2. It is not too early to file, go ahead
3. Meeting again in December will make good sense as multiple physical meeting is very good for K1, so nothing to worry about as it stands. File now before the increased fee go into effect.

Hello house, we got approval on our petition for 76 days now and we are yet to get a welcome letter from NVC. Is this normal ?. Please I need help because the approval letter from USCIS expires in a month.

How long did it take NVC to send you welcome letter after you’ve been approved?

So I came across this. Guess it’s really been a huge problem for the US embassy as people keep selling dates.

Anyone with solid answers, please?

I’m Nigerian. Mid-twenties and living in Europe at the moment. My girlfriend is white, holds a dual-citizenship, one of which is American. She wants to return to the US; I want to see what living over there feels like.

Can anyone please tell me what visa category best suits me?

Goodday house
For someone who had his wedding officially here in naija and the wife is back to the US, what category of visa can the wife file for him(fastest route), since it appears that the K-1 is for the unmarried that intends to get married...

When it comes to immigration there is nothing like fastest. You need alot of patience. Your best option is to file CR1 that is immediate relative. A spouse of an American citizen. You guys need to do alot of research about how to file. It is easy but you just need to pay attention to details while filling the form. Some good resources you can use are youtube, Google, visajourneydotcom, also join facebook group on usa CR1/IR1 immigrant. This thread is for fiance visa so you won't get much info here. Good luck

Hello house. Please my case number is not written on the interview / appointment letter as requested by the clinic where I'm to do my medicals. Please should I be worried? Or I should contact the embassy to resend it.

Got to ask, do you have an idea of an estimated wait time, cos May 11 is when my case status showed ‘ready’..so I’ve been waiting over a month now. When ever I call, they ask me to wait for the letter..my NOA expires next month, that’s my concern.
Still called them today, they said it’s looking good from their end that I should be patient.

Any one with similar challenge? How long did you wait to get your packet letter/instruction letter for appointment?

Just be patient as your packet letter will definitely be sent to you before your interview date. Just keep checking your mail. it's not your doing it took this long, so that's on them and they will definitely advise you what to do.

Hi guys!

this is my first time on this thread, please help me guys!

my uncle went for his K1 visa interview and was given a white paper that says "your visa application is currently refused under section 221(g)........."
"Send in the ORIGINALS and PHOTOCOPIES of the following":
Beneficiary's Passport and Birth Certificate ticked from all the options.

He is not a social media person. He called me to ask since I live in the US and probably thought I will know but all I know about is the F1 visa which is the one I left with a couple years ago: 221g is given if the VO wants you to submit a missing document or for administrative processing, stuff like that.

He said the VO asked for his birth certificate that she hasn't seen it on her end so i guess it was not on file, he gave her an affidavit but she said "they don't accept that".
I told him it's not a big deal, he was born in 1975 so he needs to submit an attestation of birth from NPC and his passport, everything should be good since the VO only asked for birth certificate and passport but he is still scared so I want to confirm from you guys please!

Has anyone encountered something like this before? Any input will be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance

Hi guys,

I want to say a thank you to everyone for their contributions on this platform. I started following this thread since my fiancee filed. I finally got approved. This might be helpful. The below are the questions that were asked:

How did you meet?
What got you attracted to your fiancée?
Where does your fiancée works?
Where is her company located?

After checking her system for some minutes, she finally mentioned that finally approved statement 😊

TIPS: Please make sure you are bold and confident and don’t allow the expression on the VO face makes you lose your confidence. You should be proud discussing about your fiancée. Mine wasn’t smiling but I wasn’t bothered. I answered the questions confidently.

Also, I have a question 😊 Is it possible I fly in to US from another country different from the country where the visa was issued? Or is it a must I travel from the country where the visa was issued? The reason I am asking is because I plan to travel to country A for vacation and from there I plan on traveling to the US.

I wish everyone success in this process. Thank you guys!

Hi guys,
Please I have a question as regards the I-130 form I’m to take to my interview. There’s a part in it which asks for beneficiary assets, I’m confused on what to put on that part, I have no idea how much would be okay to write on there. Also is it compulsory that the beneficiary has to indicate how much she has ? If left blank would it affect me on the day of my interview?
Please all response would be appreciated

This is not for K1. Probably you are referring to IR1 or CR1. For the area regarding your income, you are not forced. If you are unemployed at the time. You should have indicated that you are. When interview come you can update that. For me, i put unemployed because it was during pandemic. Then after pandemic I have a change of career which let me for further education in Animation and Graphics having worked as a Teacher for Almost 9 years. I have evidence. Even my certificates and now, evidence of newly established self employed company. What the VO may detect is if you lied and that depends.

.

Assets, that like is very tricky, if you had filled anything in, it would having open up places where you indicate numbers. And then on and on. You said you left it blank. Please be prepared to cover up or provide a desirable answer during your interview if it comes up. What the VO is expecting is for you not to be doing anything here at that time. Even if your petitioner is send you money, you still have to have your own stuff going on. For me, my wife do support ( with evidence) but we have other things going on that I can't say here. You need to be ready to say what you are doing.

Sorry my bad it’s the I-134 form declaration of financial support. Plus when I was filling out my I-129 form I indicated I was an entrepreneur so I don’t know if leaving it blank won’t be an issue. Cause I don’t make much on my end and even I put an amount there it might look too small, just confused
