Hope you know there will be guarantors who will stand for you. If you fail to pay back, your guarantors must pay

This country is slowly positively turning around. Tinubu is indeed a proven administrator. I see Nigeria having standardized credit rating soon.

Highly inconsequential.

Well, we'll wait for details of the scheme but it seems the only chance of repayment would be if the student graduates & becomes gainfully employed.

I think you should substitute earnings/income in place of gainful employment.

A person who inherited an estate may not be employed but end up with income to repay the loan. There could also be govt intervention programs to help offset/forgive the loan, either partial or in full.

Say for instance govt is trying to recruit into an area of occupation that is not attractive to graduates, like teaching or civil defense. They might target student loan beneficiaries with forgiveness offers in lieu of tenured service.

In other news.

For those confused about the electricity bill President Tinubu signed some days ago and the difference between the bill and the constitutional amendment bill signed by Buhari.

Check below for clarity.

The infographic is inaccurate where it says it took electricity off the executive list. Electricity has always been on the concurrent list with the caveat that States can only interfere in areas that are not covered by the national grid. What the Constitutional Amendment bill did was to remove that caveat and allow states to interfere wherever and however they choose.

In other words, electricity has always been and remains on the concurrent list.

Do u know the good thing about This?
Govt won't allow their money to go and so they will make sure u are absorbed after graduation and that will make it easier for them to recoup their money.

Can't u see this will FAVOUR the youths the more?

What happens if upon graduating u don't secure a job in 5 years.

Who is eligible for this loan?

Does it cover fees and living cost?

Are students in private university entitled to it

Are college of edu, poly, technical school entitled to it

Until these questions are answered, all this is for show

The greatest beneficiaries are parents.

I congratulate parents and rejoice with them on this bill.

No, they wl pay back. In the West, your debt wl never be forfeited. You wl certainly pay back even if it takes years to do so.

If datas and records are well kept, and subsequent administrations didn't frustrate the plan, then it wl be sweet.

I believe they will equally ensure mechanisms through which the loan would be recovered.

That is the problem of Nigerians, particularly the youths. Many of us lack integrity and have the tendency of abusing privileges. Anyway, whoever takes such loan and refuse to pay will block their subsequent chances of such opportunity in future

Easier said than done. The guarantor can as well sponsor the student or loan him the money.
Anyway the only chance of repayment is if the student graduates & becomes gainfully employed.

How do students pay back with the current rate of unemployment..

Do you know you can't leave Nigeria if you collected student loan to school

What Nigeria needs now is more Jobs

Obviously, repayment will be predicated on the student later graduating and becoming gainfully employed.

Of course!

They will pay back mostly when they start working and whoever did not pay will have his or her name on a blacklist. Am sure to get the loan, some conditions will be in place that will make it difficult for anyone to see it as a free money. This is how it's been done in the developed world and Nigerians need to go in such direction too.

At least we get to hear some good news.

Now back to the worries.

I hope no bribe will be demanded during the process, favoritism, segregation etc.

I sincerely hope it will be smooth and seamless for everyone who shows interest.

The old cragos scrapped all the goodies they enjoyed when nigeria was still working.

Now the new president is gradually putting things back to order.

It is well.
