Were will the money for the loan come from and is the guarantee of repayment of the loans?
When something is a law, the source of funding is automatically included in federal budget.
The office of budget and statistics must have done their homework and presented the numbers.

From what I have learnt so far in life , not everyone should go to university or even polytechnic. We focus too much on the university education that we neglect the practical works . My mason drives a 2008 Corolla . My bricklayer and he is not a yahoo guy ! Something most graduates can’t even afford . One of my friends is a carpenter and he is a graduate and he just bought a 2022 Honda Accord and he is not into fraud . The jobs we look down on as a society have mad potentials . Coding and IT does not need the 4 walls of a university for you to earn in dollars .
The world has changed and Nigeria has to catch up

Mechanic, after years of apprenticeship, came to UK and has now bought the garage that serviced my car. Outside, he parks his 2024 Porsche Cayenne, while I'm asking for discount to service my ......

there's need to complain because you can't a jobless man to pay back loan.

It's already stated in the student loan Bill, no income no repayment. Don't cry more than the bereaved.

I smell federal school fees going up soon!

Very high up indeed, unfortunately. But I agree with Obi who said "university education cost money", or something similar.

This is good.
But they can as well call it Scholarship because no student will pay back a loan.
Not when your BVN and NIN are automatically attached and deductions made automatically everytime you deposit into an account linked to your BVN

Young people should not fall for all these.

All these is just to calm you guys down so that when they start dealing with you guys you won't even know.

Tinubu is a great manipulator. This is the same tactics he used in Lagos that's why even if he has turn so many young people to agberos they can't complain because he has bought their conscience before angry

What can Tinubu do that will please you?

This indirectly means that education subsidy is next to be thrown outta the window

High tuition incoming grin
high tuition coming and no more ASUU strike.

I love Tinubu.

Thrown away fuel subsidy and education subsidy.

Next is our epileptic power which he has handed over to states.

No state governor has excuse not to ensure steady electricity to his citizens.

He very will. Along with the doctors and teachers which require university degrees, UK is suffering from a deficiency in handy people and even farm workers.

Good one... Gbajabiamila really working

Many bills need urgent attention and signature to be law

All the solutions to Nigerian problems have been debated since 1999 and bills sent for assent, policy documents and National conference documents are all in the Aso Rock Archives and library

Tinubu would implement all policy one after the other

Benefits of the bill

*University sets their Tuition according to ASUU and NASU requirements

*Tuition at 500,000 to 700,000 students have to pay or take a loan

* Serious Student get a Loan to pay

* Unserious student drops out, becoming Olosho and yahoo

*Rich Student pay upfront

No more ASUU strike, as University would be fully autonomous

It wasn't top of buhari's priority. He had 8yrs but couldn't make it happen. It was Tinubu who campaigned with student loan in 2015 for Buhari's election and campaigned with it again for himself in 2023.
Bro,it passed 2nd reading may 25th,was tinubu in power may 25th?
I mean its a good thing tinubu didnt throw d bill away,bt dont forget d person that used his influence to make it go through house of reps without any hiccups. This is buhari weldone ,not a tinubu.
I giv it to tinubu for d subsidy thing although it could hav been handled better

Bill before they become law must pass through the appropriate legislative chambers and committees. That is where the budget is evaluated and the cost is looked into.
The same way National Assembly is funded is how it would be funded.
Since it is federal student loan, the money would come from the federal government. It is a now the law of the land. It must be funded. Whether from increasing tax or borrowing, that is issue for another topic.

Therefore the office of budget and statistics must be involved.
Paying back with interest is the student’s responsibility since it’s a loan, it is not a gift and nobody is forcing anybody to accept it.

What if the person finishes and decides to change name, be self employed or relocate out of the country?

How will they go about it?

I'm sure they didn't think of that.

And as they are thinking of this, they should also think of creating jobs for graduates if they really want such loans to be repaid in 2 years.

You can not tell a jobless graduate to pay money back when he hasn't gotten money for himself.

I think the subsidy on school fees will be removed and school fees will Increase in all universities... That way, universities become autonomous and stop waiting for handouts from the federal government...
omo if it is that one, then it will be really needed for them. At least everyone will have the chance for education. But another things is that if job rate after school doesn't increase it will affect the rate some will be able to pay back.

It will be an option, not compulsory.

Once taken, repayment is a must.

It's being done in the U.S.

However, the problem here is that school fees are about to get jacked up, and most students will have no choice but to take it.

Chai! Do you really believe that student loan is handed to the student?
It doesn’t work that way. It’s paid to the schools directly.
