Empowerment is different from being educated.
We should stop mixing the two together..

The literacy rate in Nigeria is just slightly above 60% of our population. We need more educated people in our society.

Jobs will be created automatically if we have more sane society.

You can see what is happening in Fintech industry here, if not for covenant university and some private schools, we'll still be behind some African countries..

Don't worry to make it worse tuition fee is about to be introduced in our tertiary institution

APC e warriors at it again. Keeps flogging dead horses, which useless loans are you dreaming about? Trying to market these deceptive characters, why has a non existence mirage taken the front burner amongst legit issues plaguing the country? Why can't The AGBADO in chief declare state of emergency in the power sector? Why is the supply of pipe borne water not taking the centre stage? You are here Trying to deceive and sway the youth with one stupid loan jingle.

Even till now, government and private banks have several loans they give to people and the presidency can continue to drive it and make it more accessible to genuine business with the right system to monitor the disbursement.

Student loan is mostly for student with parent earning less than 45k monthly and often kids of people like that are denied tertiary education and even those that afford it also borrow money either from cooperative or individuals they know at huge interest.

From the student loan bill, one of the importance is to enable poor people have equal access to education and president Tinubu re-echoed that yesterday during his meeting with student leaders where he referenced Boli seller and etc.

The government is trying to provide that same one with no interest rate and yet Nigerian youth are wasting time debating whether it was a bad idea and etc. What do we really want?

Most Nigerian federal university are quite affordable. Some states government give out bursary and scholarship to their indigent students. Take a census on the numbers of graduates and students then you'd realise that there are a minimum of 1 graduate or undergraduate in every 2/3 family. These families had been coping in one way or the other to see their wards through school.

I believe we all understand the level of unemployment and poverty in Nigeria. We top the ladder. A graduate loan will obviously help curb these menace to an extent compare to students loan, and that wouldn't stop those poor family from sending their wards to school.

At least, over 1.5 million students sit for jamb yearly

Student loan is good but do u know rate of unemployment in Nigeria?

When empower graduates then they in turn can employ more hands and provide good money to send children to school, that way u wouldnt even need student loan no more.

But if u like give all Nigerian students free education, at the end of the day the labour market will be oversaturated

You need to have brains first before you will know how to invest! Student loan help safeguard the future of a country! It decreases illiteracy level and gives everyone (rich and poor) opportunity to be whatever they want to be! Youths no longer have excuses to blame their parents for their misfortunes, now their future is in their hands...

Student loan. Some parents really struggle to put their kids through school and have little to enjoy their retirement. Kids should take their destinies into their hands.

Both are good, but a lot more uncertainties with the Student loan.
Will he graduate?
Will he get a job?
Will he pay back?
But for the Graduate, you can carry out feasible study of his business plan & decide whether to give him loan or not.

Student loan is better

What Nigerian students need are the following 1..Student Jos which is the general term given to jobs that will fit with a full-time student’s schedule.. Universities should have the ability to employ students to work in the universities and also make the study to fit in.. Students can take up the roles assistants, front desk etc.

2..Internships: It should be mandatory for organizations to take students on internships either during holidays or graduate interns most organizations make alot of profits from the system but hardly employ fresh graduates or students interns

I think we are missing some salient key points the student loan seems to address for now..

It is strictly for parents that have a combine income of #500,000 and below per annum..

So, the idea, I think, is to address the children of those civil servants at the lowest of cadre..those taking home minimum wage...the gateman, the cleaners, the messengers and the likes that are finding it extremely difficult to send their children to higher institution..

These group of people includes petty artisans and petty traders.. their children too have the right to university education..

For me, this is bette than the trader moni and other social palliatives programs of government in the past, that we don't even know who are the beneficiaries of such programs.

If this is successful, I will advise the government to widen the net of the income to accommodate more parents...somewhere around 2M per annum should be fine.

This initiative will definitely reduce the number of dropouts and will encourage many to further their education.

Graduate loan.

In a strong foundational society, both are good; but many wise people can see that this particular bill is a money account diversion scheme, and also a way to stop legal people with legal paperwork from japa - ing, all in the name of we loaned you money. Why is he not expanding on the bill, so that people can see the ups and down and other ways of it.
