The Lagos State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, on Thursday, June 15, disqualified Erastus Ofoma, a witness subpoenaed by Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party (LP) against Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

According to PM News, the Chairman of the three-man tribunal committee, Justice Arum Igyen-Ashom, held that Ofoma’s statement on oath was uploaded outside the 21 days stipulated under the Electoral Act.

The tribunal ruled on the matter after taking submissions from counsels representing parties in the petition.

The man doesn't win cases based on facts but through technicalities. Thankfully, the tribunal had said, they are not there to look for technicality but raw fact. No country that want justice, fairness and peace will be scouting for technicality which is even alien to our laws. I have been asking people to point out any section of our law that says cases can be won through technicalities. It only retrogress the nation.

Technicalities are the tool employed by compromised Nigerian judges. Hopefully, the justices in this case will show that we can still have faith in our country by displaying impeccable integrity for once.
