Does that matter? Should I get a gen for medium use or is that an overkill?

2.5kva will confortably power ur listed appliances, i think u missed the point thermocool saying the gen is used for light only, does that means u can't use it for tv,fans,and other appliances? If the thermocool is actually 2.5kva u good to go that's all.

Hello guys, the transformer on my street got vandalized and this has resulted to no water supply in my house. Please I will like to know if a 1.1kva generator (sumac 1800) will power a 1.5hp pumping machine?. Any other suggestions? I'm on a tight budget. Thank you

My Sumec Fireman FPG4800E2 just tripped off.
I put it on; it powered for about 1 minute, and suddenly tripped off.
I tried to start it manually but, it did not come up.

I then changed the oil (The oil was actually spent as evident in the color).
I also cleaned the plug, it was not really dirty (but to play safe)
I checked the oil filter, and it was good. But, it still did not come up, both via key start or manual start.
I then changed the plug with a new plug, but it still did not come up.

It is not even starting at all, not like it is a choke problem.

Please, What could be the issue?

I purchased the sumec in February from an authorised dealer, so I'm sure it's not fake.


Additional info
The only load I use it with is a Thermocool inverter freezer, smart Tv and power-saving bulbs.
Whenever I make use of a 1,000 Watt Microwave, I always put off the inverter freezer to ensure the load is not excessive.

When it tripped off, the only load on it was the inverter freezer.


I don't want these repairers to start touching things that would result in more faults. (Except it's absolutely necessary that they check it) .

Hope the gen has compression? If yes then wot u should look at for is the fuel supply, remove the fuel hors and see if fuel is flowing, if the fuel is flowing, then disconnect the oil alert switch and see if it will start

for the compression, How do I know if the gen has compression or not?

As for the fuel flow, I will check tomorrow.

I'll surf the net if the oil alert switch is something I can locate myself.

The plug was removed and manually started- There was forceful air observed coming out.

Fuel supply is okay:
One of the bolts beneath the carburettor was loosened, fuel was observed to come out.
After it fully drained out, the fuel pump was put on to confirm there is no blockage to the flow of fuel- Fuel was observed to come out with no restriction

The oil alert switch has been disconnected:
a yellow cable, the oil alert cable was disconnected and the gen started
It still did not come up.

I also tried another plug but, the gen still did not come up.


Any suggestions on what the cause could be ?

Check for sparks at the plug. It could be the culprit.

2.5kva to 3.5kva has the same type of engine ...the only difference is the configuration especially if your own has a kick starter..

Just go to the market...ask for a good product not necessarily sumec because it will be expensive ..

Other products cost 32k for an engine but sumec costs up to 90k
