If we check well, where u reside might not be more than 500m from a gas plant of petrol station. Leave all these long safety talk. My cylinder has been in my kitchen for more than 10yrs without any issue but fear no go let me keep even 10litres of fuel in my house for one day. Gas is far safer than petrol.

There is a reason why petrol stations are drive-in while gas plants aren't....as in you can drive you car into a petro station, but for gas plants, at least the ones I know, one has to park outside and walk in with the cylinder for a refill.. There are even self-service petrol stations in some countries, but I am yet to see a self-service LPG station..LPG hasn't gained that kind of operational trust yet.

Vehicles have been known to crash and not burn even with full tanks of fuel.. Heck even fuel tankers tumble, spilling their contents on the road, but sometimes don't catch fire until external factors accidentally ignite it....Black marketers, some with lit cigarettes in their mouth, sell fuel in jerrycans all across this country with little or no consequence..

Your gas cylinder is inside your house connected to a burner whose functions are regulated solely by members of that household, and overtime, a safe pattern of public usage of gas to cook has been developed and generally understood.. Now even the most illiterate persons can safely operate a gas burner.. Yet, even with that extended and generally understood pattern of use, gas accidents still happen.. And are usually very fatal when they do..Gas, coupled with the high pressure under which they are stored in steel cylinders are a potential bomb (iron shrapnel from the steel cylinder included as freebies) , if even slightly mishandled.. Leaking petrol generators will mostly leak out the fuel from the fuel tap area and go off when all the fuel has leaked out, very rarely starting a fire..

To take it further, forgetting to close the petrol tap in a generator will at worst lead to flooding of its carburetor or fouling of its plugs, causing a hard start.. No generator will catch fire because its fuel tap was left on after switching it off.. But with this whole gas/carburettor generator concoction, what exactly happens if pesin forget to off d gas tap after gen is switched off?.. At least we know what happens when people forget to switch off their gas taps after cooking...Take it further, what happens if pesin leaves the fuel tap on while the gen is running on LPG?.. Will efritin now mix together and explode danu?

Another trouble with these generator gas contraptions is that it hasn't been extensively used in Nigeria for people to be very familiar with its workings... So there might be operational errors which might be fatal.. See those ones above me seeking operational clarifications... Carburetor say, carburetor no say... This one say, that one no say.. If the operational guidelines are still a bit grey for such a potentially incendiary device, can we with all fear of God say this thing is ready for public use when we know a basic operational mistake by a user can raze down an entire neighborhood?

Secondly, no one has ascertained what kind of fumes these gas powered generators produce, if they do, and the effect of these fumes on people, short-term and longterm. Gas cookers are virtually "fumeless", as far as we can tell at least... Or they produce fire which comes with its own fumes... At least we know that the fact that we can't perceive a fume doesn't mean it isn't there.. Odorless carbon emissions from generators have been known to wipe out entire families.. . But how safe, if any, are the emmisions from these fuel combustion generators which are now converted to gas use, how safe, and who certified them safe?..

Saying dem don dey use am for India, Pakistan, etc is just being smart by half .. These countries are more of a shithole than Nigeria... . Giving us instances of where these LPG carburetor generator contraptions are approved for public usage in any 1st world country will build more confidence in the product, rather than pointing to Asian shitholes who have a reputation for not valuing their own lives.

Instead of all this roundabout, pending when other people have used their own lives and that of their families to test the safety of this contraption, simply get a small diesel generator and use.. Its price-energy ratio is better than that of petrol and may be on par with this LPG thing if not more than it.... And it's far less incendiary than both LPG and Petrol usage.. Yeah, I am sure that while frenzying over petrol, una forget there are small generators that run on diesel...and there is little to no risk of your diesel generator burning down your street

Sir, thank you very much for this. But I will have to disagree about India being more of a shith0le than this country. India manufactures MBTs, spacecraft, warships and more and despite over a billion population has less people in extreme poverty than Nigeria that has a population of 200 million.

Edit- I hope to be corrected, sir. But the diesel gens I've seen cost over 400k and they are from Sumec and co. Sure, diesel gen has big advantages in that diesel has far less propensity to burn than petrol or LPG and the operation of the gen causes less wear and tear than in petrol gens, but far as I can see, diesel gens here are more expensive than their petrol alternatives and spare parts are more expensive too.

If you know of diesel gens in the price range of 250k-300k I would be more than willing to look it over.

Just got this shocking video from a client who did not follow instructions.

Please use the low pressure gas regulators only

This direct valve should never be used .

It will damage the carburetor

And it will cause a gas leak.

It will not start.

No mind that gazzuz guy jare. Too much English. We go connect direct. E go work.

I have finally made it work after 4hrs of trying and retrying... becos of the high pressure of the cng, i had to tweak the setting of the carburettor. Cos moving the lever from lpg to cng will not work. Will try to start but wont.. It runs very fine now. Would have dropped a video here... but I've tried to but cant..

CNG Tanks weigh about 60kg or more without gas... one person cannot lift it...

This one be say devil does not give free gift.
No wonder it's sold for N110 per kg.
Be very careful with it though. I read on the front page lagos state government advising against CNG for domestic use.

- I can see you have different kits, which do I need for a 5kva petrol engine (pic attached)?

The generator starts fluctuating when the gas is about 60% empty. I use the transparent fiber cylinder. It gets very low and fan barely work with about one third gas left.

It is a pressure issue. Will have to get cylinder regulators that have better tolerance as the pressure in the cylinder drops.

It is work in progress. The hybrid carburetor is not at fault.

Thanks for the feedback, I am Actively testing several pressure regulators with my pressure gauge to see if there is local solution.

Ive been using this 3way carburettor since last week... what i realised is this...
1. Its as safe as petrol, maybe safer.. even is there is a leakage as long as its outside ur house ure fine... cos even those cylinder/burner type gas cooker u use indoors, ... the flame wey u dey use cook its a form of controlled leakage too.
2. There is a drop in rpm when u are using lng instead of fuel.. like if ur gen dey carry 50 bulbs on fuel, on lng..might drop to 45 ...etc
3. Generator Sound is lower... runs quieter..
4. Reduced exhaust fumes... i no dey see exhaust smoke at all
5. I use a 3.5kva generator.. on fuel...10litres(5,000naira) run for 8 hrs... on lpg 5kg worked for 8hrs... and i had 1kg left.. approx 4kg for 8hrs.. (thats 2600) at 650perkg
6. The Gen was on about 2000watts load
7. There is a drop in performance when gas don dey finish... like when it was just 1kg left in the tank... the gen was sounding like gas go soon finish for the final 15mins of the last 8hrs.... maybe becos gas pressure has reduced in tank... engine was not steady
8. I feel cng will be a very good alternative especially for those of us in benin where there are CNG stations.
9. I went to confirm today, cng is 110naira/kg..
10. I plan on visiting them on monday to see if my old cng tank i removed from my previous car can be connected to my generator make i take enjoy life at 110naira per kg....
go feedback,at least I am getting a clear picture of lng consumption of generator at 2000watt load, pls update on the cng as well,we must find a way to survive against all odds
