your wife LIVES WITH YOU, so you dont need to build her a house (if you guys already have a house together), so the parents would be next, if they are renting...

furthermore: even if you buy your parent or your wife a house, it should ALWAYS remain in your name.... they just are allowed to live there for free. so in case of death or divorce, no paperwork wahala!

No, I haven't seen elderly married couples with grown up children renting an apartment, and I'm being honest... I've only seen it in movies.

So it's true when they say most elderly people in Nigeria stay in rented apartments rather than owning their own houses I mean I've heard this story before.

To your question, any meaningful thing i want to do for my wife i will first do it for my mother, unless my mother don't need it. At least any time i go to my mother 's house i have that home feeling especially the one i build for her, unlike your wife 's own when you inlaws go put fire for where. I will believe my mother 95% but my wife is 50%.

Buy for mum and when she is no more, her children will her house before you know what is happening or your sibblings will drag the property with you because it belongs to mum, then you guys will start killing yourself to go and meet mum

Buy for your wife, when you guys have issues, she sells them and move on then what's the fate of you and your children

You have clear points i love them. Saying one should not build house for his own mother just because his siblings will inherit the house is not good idea to me, that means i didn't love my siblings or mother. My own joy is to be seeing my love ones living in that house. And i don't want anything to with the house because it is meant for my mother.

1. You chose the wrong wife.

2. You fail to realize that Mummy won't grow old with you. Choosing a wife means choosing a person with whom to create an intertwined life.

I never said anything about everyone being in their houses and not staying in apartments, I myself stay in an apartment.

But I've never seen elderly people living in apartments before, unless they moved in with their children, but it's kinda rare... And if you ask me, building a house is never about you being financially stable... I've seen security guards and construction workers who can manage their finances building nice homes for their wives and children.

I never tell u my mother doesnot own a house. I have seen many people with their full family renting an apartment, while many women are living in the husband's houses. So my question is does it mean you have never seen a situation where a son/daughter build a house for his mother or father?
