Osimhen does not need an easy pass. he will beat Yekini's record regardless. We need to see more players.. We need to test our depth in attack and otherwise.

What we should be more concerned about is whether Peseiro or the NFF are ready to get rid of some players in the team and make way for new ones? Say we invite fringe players for the Sao Tome game and then the likes of Musa still gets called up for the next competitive encounter, then what's the point?

my biggest worry is our aging centre options and poor midfield

We need Peseiro out!
That man is just not good enough.
We need a better coach going into the AFCON.
Some of our indigenous coaches are even significantly better than him.

Not taking anything away from Senegal, but this is a Brazil team without a manager and a host of key players missing

I really don't know what people like Omeruo are doing in the team.

There is a reason why he has been a journey man player always at poor quality clubs and even lower leagues.

Many people commend him here but I've seen him make so many routine mistakes it's incomprehensible how he has remained in the SE.

Who are those key players missing? Vinicius, Militao, Guimarese, Paquette, Richarlison, Marquinhos, Ederson all started. Neymar is out injured and casemiro was on the bench.

Senegal looking solid as usual, sure favorites for the AFCON title.

Nigeria really needs to fire Peseiro and find a serious coach ASAP, don't mind Finidi and Amunike taking over for now. We need to overhaul most of our old deadweights like Musa, Omeruo, Ekong etc and start bedding in a new generation of players.

For Midfield we need to build around:

Iwobi
Aribo (still a quality player for Nigeria, needs to regain his form back)
Alhassan Yusuf
Onyedika
Daga
Akinsanmiro
Eletu
Onyeka

Defence/CB:
Bassey (still young, needs a different club and environment to thrive)

Igoh Ogbu

Tosin Adarabioyo

Jordan Torunarigha

Emmanuel Aiwu (heard NFF are interested in him)

Felix Uduokhai

Olisa Ndah.

Full backs:
Ola Aina
Ebuehi
Bright Osayi
Bruno Onyemaechi
Zaidu Sanusi
Ebube Duru

Players that should be on probation or phased out for good: Ndidi, Musa, Simon Moses, Ekong, Semi Ajayi, Chukwueze (probation, needs to start delivering for the SE), Paul Onuachu,Akpoguma (never been impressed with this lad in national colors).

omeruo and ajayi are 29, ekong is 30, it’s high time the coach start scouting for younger CBs

Any news about Victor's injury? Will he play next match?

He will be ok. A little enjoyment time with his new family and he will be ready for next season.

Nice Analogy which makes a lot of sense. However, a player's trajectory in foreign based clubs is first dependent on the player's well informed choice and his Club and National Team form and his fitness in his first 2 clubs.
Analyse Finidi George from Sharks to Ajax, Tijanni Babangida from Niger Tornadoes to VVV Venlo, Daniel Amokachi from Ranchers Bees to Club Brugge, Okechukwu Uche from Iwuanyanwu Nationale to Brondby, then recent times Kelechi Iheanacho's first move to Man City, Victor Osimhen's 1st move to Wolfsburg. Compare with the likes of Dele Alampasu, Late Sam Okoye, Godfrey Oboabona, Azubuike Egwuekwe, etc.
try using recent history so that you would not sound like a dinosaur. The topic is on home based players. Not sure what osihmen, alampasu or nacho have to do with the discussion. They dont fit in it.

we are one failed osihmen move away from playing the afcon without him cos I'm sure Napoli will definitely want to deny him of Playing in the afcon.
