Olowunl01: None of these affect what they are taught in school. Kids in Private Uni also give people and carry belle. Its not like they are sterilized. There are some public Unis who dont even strike that much, In my time Unilag and Unilorin no dey too strike Also some will argue that in Private Uni they are treated like secondary students and not like adults, even though personally I will take that trade off to graduate early At the end the quality of Private Uni are not significantly better or 10times better than public Uni in the job market where they all head to |

raumdeuter:Agreed to an extent that those factor do not affect what they are taught in school, but it is an important factor for you to make your decision to send your child private, so hence your willingness to pay the premium. |

BlueRayDick: I have a question for you. There's a course called energy and Petroleum studies offered by a private university in Delta state. But it's not in any other university. It is NUC approved. Universities are allowed to build on the existing structure. You just need to apply and have the NUC approve after carrying out their investigations. That is what differentiates the private universities from the government universities in that situation. |

larride: Even the exposure sef is relative . During NYSC where I served , the less exposed guy in our midst was a graduate of Novena University , a private in Delta state . A lady who studied Yoruba education for TASUED in our midst was more exposed and knowledgeable than him. |

larride: Larride this is what you typed just today. So I dont understand this whining. I don't understand how 1st class students passing ICAN is supposed to be a shocking thing or them getting employment. Would you like to compare the benefits of your students to what 1st class graduates from say Covenant will have especially across board. The problem is we don't have someone from these schools to properly talk about the opportunities they have available. I have never said there are no intelligent people in government unis but I stand by my point that the Gulf is consistently getting wider especially when you leave it at just your knowledge acquired in university alone. That isn't hard to understand surely |

raumdeuter: During my NYSC, I met a guy in the same school I served, the guy read Christian Religious Knowledge at Babcock. He was the first born of 4 but was the last to go to University because he insisted he wanted to study CRK and at Babcock for that matter. 😂 He said after all his siblings were through with Uni was when his father agreed for him to go to Uni. All his 3 siblings went to State Uni, he said when his father paid the first school fees of Babcock Uni, he told him that the moment he graduated, he doesn't owe him anything again in life. 😂 When we were calling the amount we paid in Uni he was just laughing and said he was not going to say how much his dad paid in Babcock before we get to know they pay close to 1m. Anybody arguing that our school is not subsidized just want to argue for arguing sake. 1 Like |

Olowunl01: There were friends who went to expensive Secondary school in the 90s Adesoye college, Atlantic Hall etc and paid 50K to 100K Of course they had cleaner environments, went on excursions more, met richer kids. The parents too saw value in that and If I had the money I would have probably done the same but at the end all of us had to face WAEC and JAMB If the A-Hall kid didn't pass WAEC or JAMB then how is he better than those who went to Regular secondary school? Osinbajo went to Corona Primary(An elite school), GEJ went to a no-name school, Many SANs and leader of Industries went to Jeleosimi and public schools The number 1 Legal person in Nigeria CJN went to Local Authority Demonstration School in Iseyin, There are many who spent thousands on their legal education and couldnt get there 1 Like |

Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 5:01pm On Jun 21, 2023 |
livelongprospa: He doesn’t process information like most graduates would; basic processes need to be explained to him over and over again . Sometimes he will make u wonder if he indeed attended a university where he was expected to be independent and learn to apply well thought-out solution to problems . It’s difficult to explain , but he left much to be desired about him as a graduate |

livelongprospa: Bro my school was run like a private uni, we have 6 different campuses so that each campus is not overcrowded. Like I said in that post, the difference is in infrastructure and having more lecturers than we do. As for knowledge acquired in the University, you dey whine yourself. |

Olowunl01: Yes I would still consider it subsidized. If a contractor tells you that this house in Banana Island that would cost 900M but finished in 1yr, It will cost you 200M but finished in 2yrs because I will use less manpower As long as the quality is comparable Will you consider it subsidized? Surely Davido will pay the 900M and get it sooner 4 Likes |

Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 5:09pm On Jun 21, 2023 |
livelongprospa: Yes I do. I believe the IT being offered in Covenant and UNIVEN are the same because they use the same curriculum as approved by NUC . I also believe the Covenant student has access to well equipped Library where he can carry out personal research after class. The UNIBEN student can also carry out his own personal research albeit under a different condition entirely. In the long run I believe if both students pass their exams and graduate in good grades they can offer the same knowledge to their would-be employers . I believe I’ve answered ur question. |

Olowunl01: The strike is part of what you get. My own 4yrs was 4yrs even though ASUU strike for 6 month while I was in school. My school opted out of ASUU strike being a state uni. Even this last strike, my school didnt partake in it. |

livelongprospa: U are missing the point . My post clearly says exposure is relative . Like I mean u can go to a private school and be exposed , yet u can go to the same private school and not be exposed . See as I dey break things down for u like enzymes dey break down fatty acids 😁 |

raumdeuter: Seems like apples and oranges here, but to answer your question No, that extra 1year is a risk; the 700M is insurance/compensation for my taking the risk, compensation for delaying my enjoyment of the asset; developer fit put my N200M into some maad yielding scheme, flip it over n number of times within 1year to still deliever my property in year 2 and turn profit. |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by livelongprospa: 5:20pm On Jun 21, 2023 |
BlueRayDick:Having the same curriculum doesn't mean you have the same content. The difference is what covenant builds upon and offers in their courses compared to government universities. The curriculum is the foundation, each uni is meant to build on that hence where the difference lies. This is outside better libraries, better learning conditions which include less tired lecturers who are subjected to checks and balances alot more than government uni lecturers. No strikes to derail you. Better security which leads to safer learning environment. Wooh I've tried and it's okay to have your view point. |
