The strike is part of what you get. My own 4yrs was 4yrs even though ASUU strike for 6 month while I was in school.

My school opted out of ASUU strike being a state uni. Even this last strike, my school didnt partake in it.
Chairman I get it wasnt your reality, but humour me; If you spent 7yrs instead of 4yrs due to strike would you still consider it subsidized? Or accord any value to the subsidy?

U are missing the point . My post clearly says exposure is relative . Like I mean u can go to a private school and be exposed , yet u can go to the same private school and not be exposed .

See as I dey break things down for u like enzymes dey break down fatty acids 😁

Yunno what.. Okay boss😁

Seems like apples and oranges here, but to answer your question No, that extra 1year is a risk; the 700M is insurance/compensation for my taking the risk, compensation for delaying my enjoyment of the asset; developer fit put my N200M into some maad yielding scheme, flip it over n number of times within 1year to still deliever my property in year 2 and turn profit.

At the end of the 2yrs we both have a property of comparable in Banana Island, you paid more for it got it faster, used it for 1yr

At 900M I would never have afforded it, Now I am able to sit in the landlord asociation meeting at Banana Island with Davido

That is what this education in Nigeria does

How many student can afford the almost 1m per session at covenant, they have the option of paying 20K per session in Unilag and at the end of 5yrs call themselves graduate with the same person who spent 20 times more

Seems like a huge bargain to me

Having the same curriculum doesn't mean you have the same content.
The difference is what covenant builds upon and offers in their courses compared to government universities.
The curriculum is the foundation, each uni is meant to build on that hence where the difference lies.

This is outside better libraries, better learning conditions which include less tired lecturers who are subjected to checks and balances alot more than government uni lecturers.
No strikes to derail you.
Better security which leads to safer learning environment.

Wooh I've tried and it's okay to have your view point.

So how do u explain graduates of OAU, LASU, UNILAG, UNIZIK , etc coming out tops at the bar exams while Afe Babalola University , Igbinedion university , Baze University law graduates with a well built upon curriculum are far behind ?

U must show workings o; u no fit run away with “ I’ve tried and it’s okay to have ur view point “ ? 🤣

Tbh, I will be angry but it doesn't change the fact that the reason there was strike in the first place was because the govt and lecturer unions are always clashing because of low salaries.

The schools are not charging reasonable fees to take care of the running of the schools which means the govt have to continue to fund them. That's the subsidy.

I went to a state uni, we had a less crowded hall, very good library and a working clinic all working efficiently on campus yet my school fees was 95k per session with zero extra fees paid after. Also with zero strike. While I was paying 95k per session, my friend at Redeemers was paying in excess of 700k for the same degree. That's the subsidy.

Na this same thing pulse ng report. Just like pulse ng report , this particular news still says they have not approved it, just the guy behind the commission urging states and FG to sign-on on it.

If that will be done, we don’t know yet .

The low salaries tends to give same lectural d less ginger to give you all you need in full...

The ripple effect is what it seems you are paying for..

I think the definition of subsidy plays a major role in this debate..

If paying less for quality.. then it is subsidised....but paying less for sub-standard,the subsidy if any is negligible

And what was the difference in quality of both graduates after 4yrs? was it ratio 7:1?

Don’t mind him.

I’ve worked in a private university environment before and from close distance I’ve seen there’s actually no much difference in a private university student and public university student . Private university students pay for the comfort in their hostels , conducive learning environment and state of the art infrastructure . It makes learning easy for those who actually want to learn .

It doesn’t in any way mean the knowledge passed on from their lecturers supersedes that passed on from public university lecturers .

Bro RMFAC job is review and approval of govt wages and salaries including minimum wage. That's their duty.

After RMFAC approval, they will make recommendation to the FG, NASS and State Govs. FG, NASS, State Gov and their house of Assembly will then have to sign it into law.

The RMFAC made the approval and recommendation to the govt since last year and it was ignored.

That's it.

Of course not.

We did a debate with both school department fielding their best, judges were from Unilorin and we won them twice.

That's a NO. So in essence the 7:1 difference is the cost of the risk you faced going to state Uni.

If Unilag is upgraded to have similar conducive environment & risk of strike eliminated - be rest assured that it would command more premium than Redeemers.

That can never be the 7:1 difference when those who attended public uni can still compete with those that attended private uni even with the strike.
